7:31 pm
will ask god to help those suffering for christ. one such nation is the west african country of nigeria. places of worship are burned and christians killed simply for believing in jesus. gary lane has more. >> reporter: as christians around the world gather to pray for their persecuted brothers and sisters in christ, open doors president carl muller says it is important to know how to pray for them. >> they don't ask that persecution would stop. they pray instead they would be strong in the midst of persecution and empower them to be bold witnesses. >> one country particular in concern is nigeria. more than 2,000 christians killed last year in clashes with muslim extremists in northern nigerian states.

7:34 pm
for all faiths? >> there will be no tolerance of any negative commentary or critical analysis about islam whatsoever. it is enforced with lethal force with thousands of christians being killed by boko haram. the very name boko haram means it is blasphemy to have western education. everything that is not boko haram or islamic is considered blasphemy for that radical extremist group. >> nina, this is more than nigeria. how big of a problem is this in the muslim world? >> it is a growing problem. we are seeing it in libya and tunisia and egypt because they are planning to introduce stricter sharia law. sharia law, the worst part isn't

>> it is. there is a movement through a muslim block of nations, organization of islamic cooperation which has a huge presence to the united nations. there is a push to have the entire world abide by these blasphemy laws of islam. they are asking the west to enforce criminal punishment for blasphemy against islam within western borders against their own citizens. we are starting to see this be adopted in places like western europe, canada and australia. >> pakistan school books foster intolerance and prejudice against minority religions, how does that impact the society? >> this stokes hatred towards the religious other, the christian in the case of pakistan or mahdi. it gives official sanction to

7:38 pm
this will mean the commission will cease to exist as of november 18th. we maybe included in a continuing resolution and get another lease on life. we need to be reauthorized. our mandate needs to be renewed for us to continue. >> nina, we always enjoy you being on the program, thanks so much, nina. >> thank you. come up, how a miraculous healing led this muslim woman to faith in christ and the high price she pays for leaving islam.
