aftermath. >> it is much, much alarming. we are now stretched to the limit. we are receiving all the military casualties and civilian alike on top of our normal civilian that have been dealing with. >> this weekend, mr. obama used his bully pulpit calling both sides to account. >> we know what needs to happen. government of sudan must stop military actions including arial bombardments and end support for armed groups inside the south. like wise the government of south sudan must end armed groups and cease military actions across the border.

>> john waage, cbn news. a catholic church in sudan burned this week. related to ongoing hostilities. it was reportedly built on a disputed piece of property. hundreds of muslims shouted insults as they set the church on fire. now comes work sudan's government is forcing employees to donate portions of their salaries to support the army after losing revenues. gary is it your opinion south sudan and sudan are at war? >> even though they sign today comprehensive peace agreement in january 2005, they have been fighting off and on since. >> the president made this

comment calling on all sides to stop. what is being done to prevent an escalation of this going forward? >> not enough. if the president were wise he would appoint a special envoy to negotiate peace in the region. you have the african union, sudan and south sudan back together to the peace talks. they want to see that happen and a negotiated settlement. >> some are calling for the u.s. to take out the air assets of the sudanese government is that a good government. as you know sudan became the world's -- south sudan bm the world's newest country last july.

a lot of unresolved issues, borders, they held the oil field that is one of the last largest remaining oil fields of the north it possesses. when the south split, they took 75 percent of the oil with them. of course, south sudan says hagleg, that belongs to the south. they never negotiated a border, who gets what? citizenship rights. they need to do that. >> you have been there for, i don't know so many times over the last 25 years, how were the christians handling this? both in the south as well as in the north? >> they were concerned about this fire up in khartoum. they are worried for the christians that remain in the north. sudan as ordered all southern sudanese to leave sudan if they don't have special permits. what happens to the christians left behind? they will be a smaller minority

there. they are afraid they will come under repeated attack from militant muslims and al-bashir is losing control. >> are the christians worried in the south? >> no. they have peace in the south for themselves. they are worried about their relatives, others in the north that can't worship freely. >> obviously groups like samaritans purse, operation blessing, voice of the martyrs have been trying to rebuild this country. >> people say what can i do? first and foremost pray. do what you can to support these groups like operation blessing, like essam's purse and vom helping south sudan rebuild that country. >> amazing in the 21st century we would see the births of a new nation. >> they need infrastructure. >> gary lane, thank you for your

christians lived under the protection of long-time dictators. the arab spring ended that with egypt's hosni mubarak. >> very oppressive for them, they nevertheless were able to have churches and pray. now they are concerned they can no longer do that. no churches are allowed and shay says the government is hunting down people who pray in their homes. shay says it is not just the middle east. >> there is a radicalization of islam going on. this is having an impact on the tolerance there is for non-muslims. >> those include nigeria, north korea, china. a rare exception is this news week article described as a

somali dutch feminist and writer. she writes, in fact, a holy different kind of war is underway, an unrecognized battle. christians being killed because of their religion. it is a rising genocide that ought to provoke global alarm. the west needs to use pressure. shay specifically points to the u.s. as not doing enough especially in egypt. >> we can use more public statements to signal it matters to us we are not in different. it is not a green light to continue killing christians and disrespecting their worship. i think we have a lot of levers to pull.

>> christians of all backgrounds are honoring the life and ministry of charles w. colson. the prison fellowship founder died at the age of 80. he reached out to prisoners and his families. he called on christians to defend the faith and engage the cultu culture. charlene israel has a look at his life. >> chuck colson was born in massachusetts in 1931. he was a child of the great depression. >> it was tough. i got used to being poor. i never knew we were poor because it was the way we lived.

my dad went to school at night. working hard at a job making $32 a week. we would share with people on the block who didn't have has much as we had. >> colson went on to graduate from brown university and earned a law degree from george washington university. he served as a captain in the united states marine corp. and landed a job at the white house in the nixon administration. his promising career took an ominous turn. he was caught up in the water gate scandal as president nix nixon's hatchetman. he after that became a christian after reading c.s. lewis. boston globe reported if mr. colson can repent of his

sins, there has to be hope for everybody. colson admitted he was guilty. he would do anything for the cause of his president and party. >> he served seven months at maxwell in alabama. he promised fellow inmates he would never forget them behind bars and talked about the experience on the "700 club" over the years. >> i thank god, pat, i went through it. because i carry with me a heavy burden for the men and women in prison. >> that burden led colson to establish prison fellowship, an international ministry working in 100 countries, committed to prisoner rehabilitation. >> with the prison population exploding and crime rate

soaring, we are not dealing with the root cause of crime. we are treating them like animals and expect them to be rehabilitated. one way, it is when a man turned his life over to jesus christ. >> he wrote more than 30 books, selling 5 million copies and sought after public speaker. in his books he stressed the importance of a christian world view. >> it won't do for us to entertain ourselves, feel good about ourselves. this is a time for the church to engage the world. it has to be done through the church. >> in the end the only thing that mattered to chuck colson was having a right relationship with jesus christ and ministering the grace he received with as many people as possible. >> i live everyday to the fullest because i can live it for christ. whether it is just in my prayer time, i am going to do something

18 months old. sweden is very close to demanding exactly that. as dale hurd reports, for this very reason, some are calling sweden a police state. many families are fleeing the country. >> this is one of the escape routes nor home schoolers from sweden, by ship, two hours across the icy baltic sea, a part of finland where the locals speak swedish and parents can home school. sweden's home school has been crushed. they want children as young as one years old in day care. >> the president of the sweetish home school associaton. children have to be in school. >> after this family was threatened with tens of thousands of dollars worth of

fines, the family slipped quietly out of sweden. >> this family worked in the music industry in stalkholem before fleeing. >> our family was in danger. >> choice was quite easy, really, to make. >> most swedish home schoolers see the educational and social development home schooling prosides their children. >> we notice our children are enjoying the way they learn. our children develop very fast and good, both emotionally and social and intellectually. >> before 2010 it was possible to home school in sweden. government changed education law to ban in all cases.

also forced private schools to teach the state curriculum. what is happening in sweden a parental inquisition. >> there was a time when sweden was a haven for political refugees. now they are creating political refugees, the home schooler. >> they want to take children from birth-high school and control them. >> sweden's treatment of parents violates established standards. >> considered a foundational human rights document says article 26 part 3, parents have a prior right to decide the kind of education their children

should have. swedish government doesn't find it is important for philosophical reasons. they want children as young as possible. children as young as one year old into day care. >> one mother -- he has to go today care and you need to work. it is only a matter of time before we have a come pulse rare day care. this is not a right that parents are allowed to interfere with. >> don >> this seems to be what is happening in sweden. they want to socialize them and don't want parents to be

involved. >> sweden doesn't believe it is the parent's right to choose what and how you raise your children, period. >> this has caffeine. >> this family is in court battling fines levied over the home schooling of their son. >> they believe if you keep your children home, it is possible you are indoctrine nating them. >> sweden's experiment doesn't seem to be going well. swedish government's own report shows the psychological health is declining faster than in 11 comparable european countries. >> why are swedish young people so psychologically so unhealthy? so full of anxiety? so easily depressed.
