pentecost sunday. the 11th anniversary of the event. organizers say they desire to see the fulfillment from habakkuk, the waters cover the sea. joining us now is professor of biblical from regent university. what can you tell us about this founding vision of the global day of prayer? >> it is a wonderful story, an ordinary man who had the vision in calling them together in 2001. finally the whole world, the original vision was to get people together and ask god to intervene in our history and

bring forth his kingdom. >> 200 nations all praying at the same time. why is it significant to bring this global day of prayer. everyone from around the world praying together? >> in my original discussions, it is quite interesting. he mentions the day of pentecost, acts 2 and 4. scripture says when christians came with one voice, one heart, one accord, god poured forth his spirit. praying to the lord. >> the bible says when one can put one prayer can put a thousand to flight and two can but 10,000. there is powers in number and power in unity? >> how good and blessed is for brethren to pray together and the anointing ail that drips

down. >> we all need that. big prayer events are good things. is there a deeper level of prayer god's people should be wanting and desiring? >> other forms of prayer, prayer of examing, prayer of gazing, prayer of worship. can we transform oir lives into prayer? >> what about liquid prayer, tears? the lord collects our tears. tears are like liquid prayer. they speak without speaking, i guess. >> pentas prayer. one of the earliest -- blood heals the souls. tears cleanse us. >> so many scriptures about

grieving and sewing in tears and reaping a harvest, psalm 126 comes to mind. true interception, whether for a person or nation or world, that carries a price tag, doesn't it? >> we stand in the gap. we speak to god on behalf of people. often, their cost is to feel the pain and feel the pain of god. >> what if we are honest and say i don't really feel that, how can we get in tune with god's heart and have a burden even for lost souls? >> we have to wait upon the lord. we have to wait to receive his heart and mind. we have to desire him. sometimes there is no desire. desire to desire. 50,000 more are expected. pete wooding traveled to south sudan with workers from samaritan's purse. he gives us this look and christian efforts to help them. >> with sudan and south sudan on the brink of war, a crisis being cause by the max exodus of more than 120,000 refugees fleeing arial attacks. desperate need of food, shelter, and water after walking in the intense heat. >> churches are gathering under the shade of a tree every sunday morning in these refugee camps. past pastors are networking together for the thousands of needy

each family is set up with a ration of beans or maize. >> samaritans purse is providing vital medical help. the only hospital in the region providing surgeries for wounded and treatment for malaria and acute malnutrition. >> one of the most rewarding things is we do see change. when tabatha came, she wasn't eating or drinking, we had a tube in her mouth. now she is eating and running and playing like a normal child.

those choices we make, they are influenced. by evil powers, by good powers and who are you going to listen to? >> c.s. lewis said i never wrote with less enjoyment. mcclean says it is because he was forced to dig deep giving him spiritual cramps. >> i wasn't really anticipating how people react to the end of the story. i don't want to give it away. it really has this this triumph of good over evil that grabs people in a way that is one of the unexpected consequences.
