everyone i am george thomas. leaders from around the world are expressing shock and anger over gruesome scenes of children and women lying dead. little has been done to stop them. u.s. and u.n. officials warn syria, there will be consequences if the attacks continue. john waage explains. >> thousands dead in the syrian revolt that began 16 months ago, the obama administration will not commit american forces to try to stop the killing. former u.n. secretary general corp.yan has been shattered by the armed opposition. u.n. observers travel from town to town. this father is trying to get his family away from the violence.

on the ground in syria? >> that is exactly what we are hearing, george. nobody is saying that the leadership is that great in syria. many believers are fearing if the government collapses it will be worse for them. that is what we are hearing on the ground. >> it is a predicament, bashar assad has protected the member of the minority group in syria, protected the christians to some extent and concern about what happens next. how would you focus the global church's attention on the situation as we see the carnage, as we see the death and destruction on the streets of syr syria, how does the church pray for the unfolding crisis? >> we immediately go to the gee

>> kay warren saddle back church is training churches to be community health workers. >> those faith organizations already reach 250 million people around the world. if they can get these behavioral messages out and people start changing their own behaviors are more cognizant of drinking bad water. >> it is a vital partnership, in many poor communities, civil society is non existent. >> there is some sort of church, it maybe a group of people who claim to know jesus christ, god, they are his representatives. faith community is going to be there long after the government regime leaves the area.

>> in africa this week, radical islam group boko haram claimed responsibility for two church attacks that killed at least six christians in nigeria. s in city of josz, suicide bomber detonated a bomb. four people died and forty wounded. also an usher and church member. nation of india is emerging as a powerful force. this vast and diverse country as great needs. samuel thomas of hope givers international, spoke with gary lane, my colleague.

>> reporter: dr. thomas, i know the heart of your ministry is orphan children, how many do you have? >> today we have 4,800 in hope givers, psalm 127:4 and 5, we ask in god to help gather the arrows, place them in his giver, launch them into the village where gospel as never been preached before. 97 percent of our children end up in full time ministry. brother gary, they ask me, looks like you brainwash these kids. we teach them christ three times a day, eventually when they graduate from high school, they go into full time ministry.

>> you graduated 635 students. you notice a difference. what is the main difference? >> commitment and surrender. most of the christians committed, few are surrendered. >> you are also doing wells, i understand. providing fresh drinking water. >> brother gary, we send a pastor to a village, severe persecution, we would have to pull them out. we don't want to intentionally knowing they will be in danger. how do we go back? bible says shake the dust out of your shoes and go on to another village. we come on to a strategy of providing clean water, they then become acceptable to the gospel. within six to eight months after we provide a well, we are able

to accomplish a church in that village. >> many that are coming to christ are the dalid people, untouchables, considered the lowest casts in india. why? >> they are looking for love. they are looking for someone to care for them. going back to john 6, after jesus fed the 5,000, he says gather the fragments. that is what hope givers does, we collect those that nobody else wants, bring them to the saving knowledge of christ, then you see god. the main reason we have persecution in india, ministry of hope givers is killing the cast system. they are no different than any other people living in india. they are drawn because of love, because of forgiveness, because of joy that comes from knowing

their skin. because the people have been loyal to the democratic vote doesn't mean you are going to get their vote. >> even some that marched with dr. martin luther king, don't begin to compare to the fight for gay marriage. >> i don't think it is relevant to a civil rights fight at all. it is a fight between rights and wrong. this happened to be wrong. >> 39 percent of blacks favor gay marriage, a number barely increased over the last decade. >> many of them changed their votes or will some simply stay home and not vote at all? >> same-sex marriage is an abomination, scripture rally and actually. >> despite his difference with the president on marriage, delegate burns will support him
