i was crying. it was not funny at all. aurora demattos needed a doctor's signature. it all started one day last month, while she was at work. i just knew there was chest pain, and i couldn't breath, and i got scared. aurora rushed to the hospital and they ran some tests. doctors eventually performed a small procedure, to help relieve a blood flow problem. it went well, but aurora missed 9 days of work. i called the short term disability to get paid for those days. to process the paperwork, all she needed was the doctor's signature. but when she called the hospital, she was told the doctor who performed the procedure was on vacation. what am i suppose to do now? that started a chain of phone calls, with no one willing to help. and not only was she not going to get paid, but she also faced a penalty at work for an unexcused absence. they give you points, you can have 5, and after 5 points you get fired. 2 weeks went by with no new answers from the hospital. that's when aurora decided to pick up the phone.
