away sparking protests. plus.. contact 13 reveals the five biggest scams of the year. hello wind. the start of a news storm hits las vegas. but first breaking news just into our newsroom. one woman is dead.. shot near craig and mlk. we have a photographer headed there right now. we'll bring you an update as soon as we get it. now to that wind advisory in affect for las vegas and the surrounding valley. we sent our photographer out to track some of that wind. look at what he found near charleston and the 215. it's shaking some trees. thankfully there aren't any reports of damamge yet. meteorologist karla huelga's tracking the new storm for us tonight. karla, how long will it stay this gusy? ad-lib we'll start to feel the impacts of our next storm system late tonight in the form of gusty winds, chances for rain, high elevation snow and colder temperatures. expect gusts to 35mph tonight, then bumping up to 40mph in the overnight hours.

packages being stolen right off of peoples front porches... now holiday thieves are taking aim at christmas decorations... one valley family's security cameras caught these christmas crooks stealing their beautiful holiday display. 10:50:12:00 you can't have packages being delivered to your home because they come and take it, obviously you can't have nice decorations out because people take it. real life grinches are stealing christmas spirit.... right off of houses and out of front lawns. surveillance cameras caught these holiday thieves swiping a sleigh, a reindeer and other light up decorations right out of lori burger's yard on thursday night. 10:50:56:00 once we got home and saw the video surviellance cameras my ten year old was astonished and that's when he asked why would someone do this, why would someone come and take that, people suck. that's not all they took, the burger's home use to be beautiful lit up and decorated just like their neighbors... now it's dark... a few wicker figures and a lonly wreath is all that's left of the families festive holiday display. 10:48:35:00 this is now along

arizona charlies....where she used to work. "i think it was her intention to double back and go across the street and say hello to some old coworkers. the vehicle just didn't see her." 42-year old emily collier never made it to arizona charlie's. investigators called her former next door neighbor - juanita watkins - to tell her the news. "that she had been hit and that she had expired and they wanted to let us know." juanita only knew emily for three months. but she left an impact in that short time. "i met emily right away. she's a very special person." juanita says emily went out of her way to get to know her "she walked over like people used to do back in the day. endearing. she didn't have to do that. and people don't do that no more." didn't have to do that. and people don't do that no more." the long time bartender recently moved off riker ave...

(sot/exchange) kendis: where did it go? luke griffin: "it just started back that way towards the high school and you can see up there on that lane jennifer skender, out christmas shopping when the tornado ripped apart her home of eleven years. a neighbor texting her these picture of her home (sot) jennifer skender: "i'm just grateful that we weren't home. (emotional pause) i think, um, the lord sent us away and spared us." over 2 dozen severe storm reports over the

foot of rain to some parts of texas - and wind gusts powerful enough to throw 64 large cargo train cars from the trestle and residents and authorities are astounded that not a single injury has been reported in these weekend storms. kendis gibson, abc news, lindale, texas. now a story developing in california. another police shooting caught on camera. the video shows los angeles county sheriff's deputies fatally shooting a man walking away from them they fire repeatedly even after he falls to the ground according to police, 28-year-old nicholas robertson pointed a gun at them and refused to drop it. more than a dozen people gathered to protest this evening outside the gas station where police shot robertson. relatives accuse the officers of using excessive force.. investigators say they will not make any conclusions until they've reviewed every detail.

about that terror attack in san bernardino. tashfeen malik was vetted by homeland security. but investigators passed over social media. after the attack they found malik's facebook post critical of moderate muslims. now the new york times reports she also talked openly on social media in support of violent jihad and "wanted to be a part of it" "had they checked out tashfeen malik a little more, maybe she wouldn't have gotten a visa. maybe those people in san bernardino would be alive." this weekend senator chuck schumer's pulling for the immediate installment of a new program.. desinged to scour the social media of everyone in the u-s on visas. the attack in san bernardino is the second worst shooting since the massacre at sandy hook elementary. tomorrow marks the third anniverary of that shooting. 20-year old adam lanza killed nd six adults. he killed his mother too. then turned his gun on himself as police closed in on him.

a teenage boy is dead and two people in critical condition after a crash on the 95. n-h-p says a semi truck hit the back end of a car friday night north of las vegas. the driver and a passenger in that car are the ones in critical condition. the driver of the semi was not hurt. there's a major medical scare in california. .. a nurse in the maternity ward at a san jose hospital.. tests positive for tuberculosis. officials at the santa clara valley medical center.. .racing to find more than a thousand people... including 350 newborns who had contact with the nurse between mid-august to mid- november. dr. jeffrey starke, md/infectious disease specialist at texas children's hospital tb leaves the lung and causes other problems such as meningitis, so it's appropriate to take the protection of newborns very seriously when an exposure has occurred hospital officials say the nurse's annual t-b test in september had negative results... she showed no symptoms. she was diagnosed with tb in november after treatment for an unrelated illnesss... doctors say tb skin and blood tests are extremely unreliable

for infants. they recommend the 350 potentially exposed babies undergo antibiotics for the next six months, as a precaution. a heavily armed gunman is dead tonight after being shot by police at a pennsylvania walmart. police say the man walked into the store and just started pointing his gun at people. officers got there and asked the man to drop it, but he refused - so they shot him. he was taken to a hospital where he later died. noone else was injured, but as you can imagine, customers were shaken, "i won't even come here by myself. i always ask my husband to go with me because i'm so scared. police have not released any information about the gunman or why he chose to wave a gun around inside the store. security remains high around geneva, switzerland following the arrest of two individuals on the suspicion of terror. swiss police arrested the two people after locating a vehicle and finding what authorities say are traces of explosives. both individuals had syrian passports and were arrested on suspicion of the manufacture, concealment and transport of

explosives and toxic gases. authorities have been looking for at least two people with links to suspects in the paris attacks, in which 130 people were killed. it's not known yet whether the geneva arrests are linked to those attacks. british prime minister david cameron plans to call for a ban on high powered semi-automatic weapons across the european union . his office just announced that the measure is part of a crack down on the illegal firearms trade. it's also part of a long-term plan to counter terrorism in europe. cameron is also calling for greater efforts to 'undermine' online radicalization. right now.. the philippines is bracing for a powerful typhoon. typhoon melor is expected to make landfall tomorrow. the storm is growing stronger the closer it gets to the islands. ad-lib we'll start to feel the impacts of our next storm system late tonight
