where he has been tracking all of the negotiations. a long day here as the assembly passed the first bill and sent it along to the senate before calling it a night. assembly members saying the workforce development deal could benefit more than just faraday. derek armstrong (r) las vegas no verbatim the assembly is likely done for the night. they are waiting on the senate to finish up the commerce bill to cover the tax incentives and bonds for the billion dollar electric car factory. it is currently being amended. the senate is expected to vote on the bill before adjourning tonight. the senate would cover the assembly bill and new water morning. the assembly would then take up the commerce bill assuming it is approved by the senate tonight. reporting live, bryan callahan, channel 13 action news. unlv's head baseball coach.. tim chambers.. is stepping down.. citing health reasons. it comes two months after he

an action news update tonight. police say they have made an arrest in this front door package theft. it happened near charleston and nellis but this wasn't any ordinary theft. a val planted a box full of dog poop inside... he had just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to see if package thieves lived nearby.

a young man took the bait. police are waiting to hear from the homeowner on whether he wants to press charges. in tonight's rwb2016 political coverage.. a major distraction for the bernie sanders campaign going into tomorrow night's democratic presidential debate against hillary clinton. a sanders staffer took advantage of a software clitch to gain access to part of a voter database that contained confidential clinton campaign information. that staffer told abc news he was not prying for clinton's info.. and quote: "we did not take anything out of the system it was in.. and did not gain anything out of it." the staffer was still fired immediately. sot - jeff weaver sanders campaign manager "we're running a clean campaign. we're going to beat secretary clinton and everyone on theses issues. we don't need dirty tricks. that's not how we run it here." the dnc has temporarily suspended the sanders campaign's access to the party's crucial voter file while it investigates. new information tonight on the

bernardino. enrique marquez, a childhood friend of san bernardino shooter, syed farook has been arrested on terror charges. including conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. authorities say marquez purchased the assault rifles used in last month's attack. over ten days of interrogation, prosecutors says enrique marquez freely revealed he and longtime friend, sayed farook, planned terror attacks together--dating back four years--including a plot to attack students in the cafeteria of riverside community college--where the two friends attended classes. michael siahaan/student: it makes you feel unsafe.//the fact that this could just happen is unsettling. another plan between them, targeted drivers on a california freeway--during rush hour. an update on a contact 13 investigation that's been ongoing for months. april parks.. an embattled private guardian under investigation by metro.. is now facing more problems. parks is accused of abusing her power and exploiting the people she was court-appointed to protect.

that could lead to criminal charges.. parks now faces disciplinary action for violating national standards. the center for guardianship certification.. which certifies private professional guardians nationwide.. has censured parks for her actions in the case of elizabeth indig. contact 13 first reported on indig's case in september.. after parks failed to pay indig's hoa dues and let the elderly woman's home slip into foreclosure. it sold at auction for $22,000.. all without court approval. elizabeth: she took control over the home and everything in the home which were trust assets. and she had no right to. indig's daughter successfully fought to get her mother out of guardianship but the house was already gone. parks was also censured for failing to file required court documents in a timely manner. a clark county family court 'hearing master' and judges were aware of all that.. but indig says they failed to do anything to prevent or rectify parks' actions.

guardianshp services despite the censure and police investigation. protests took place around the city of chicago on today as officer jason van dyke appeared before a judge on charges in the 2014 murder of laquan mcdonald. he did not enter a plea as some expected. instead, a judge set his arraignment hearing for december 29th. one of those protests took place outside the courthouse...another targeting holiday travelers at midway airport...blocking traffic there. the group wants to hold up holiday and business travelers. from contact 13 a major identity theft protection company will pay a record 100-million dollars to settle charges it failed to keep customers' personal information safe. lifelock's deal ends its case with the federal trade commission. in 2010, the f-t-c alleged the company made false claims in promoting its i-d theft protection services. at that time, lifelock paid a 12- million dollar settlement.

into a big selloff today. dow down 367. nasdaq down 79 sp500 down 36 all of the big local gaming stocks were down today except las vegas sands.. up almost 1%. unemployment rates fell in more than half of the states last month. it comes after the labor department reported the economy generated 211,000 jobs last month.. leaving the national jobless rate at 5-percent.. a 7-year low. nevada's unemployment rate of

expected highs in the las vegas valley will be right around 60 with a couple areas breaking into the low 60s but not much warmer than that. sky conditions will be mostly cloudy most of the day with the majority of clouds being high level, slowly lowering throughout the day. the thickest clouds will be just after sundown and into the overnight hours where a few light showers may make it into the valley very early sunday morning. the vast majority of the precip will stay in the mountains where a couple hundredths of an inch of rain below about 4,000' and above 6,000' a trace-2" of snow is possible. locations in the las vegas week where an atmospheric river will set up for the california and oregon coasts. vegas will get some very thick high level cloud cover essentially all week but won't see any rain as a lobe of high pressure will keep all the low level moisture north in central nevada. high pressure will keep

known as the "affluenza teen". ethan couch was spared jail time and was given just probation after killing four people while driving drunk. but now.. he is on the run and he could have a three-week head start on authorities. abc's elizabeth hur reports. not long after posting this video from a booze party on twitter.. investigators say ethan couch vanished. the 18-year-old was due in court on december 3rd for his probation hearing.. but not only was he a no-show.. his mother is also missing. sheriff dee anderson, tarrant county: "i believe they left after his last appointment with his probation officer // i believe they planned and timed

maximum amount of time to be gone before we started looking for them." the fbi and us marshals fugitive task force now joining local investigators.. tracking the family's passports.. phone and financial records.. not ruling out the possibility couch fled the country.. sheriff dee anderson, tarrant county: "he's going to have to look over his shoulder the rest of his life. we're not going to not come after him. anytime he gets anywhere we could apprehend him, we're going to find him." couch was serving 10 years probation after a drunk driving in 2013 left 4 people dead. at the time.. he was 16 and his legal team argued he suffered from a condition called affluenza.. scott brown, attorney: when's the last time you recall disciplining ethan for anything? tonya couch: i don't remember. in other words.. his lawyers argued he was too spoiled.. to know right from wrong.. couch reached financial settlements with the victims families and managed to avoid jail time with his affluenza defense..

but there may be another way for kids to reduce stress and be healthy and it involves being still. with more, here's abc news senior medical contributor dr. timothy johnson. middle school students? they aren't exactly known for their ability to sit still and be quiet. but a new tudy shows that students from disadvantaged neighborhoods who learn

better chance at reducing the negative effects of stress and trauma in their lives. researchers from hopkins studied 300 middle school students from two baltimore schools? splitting them into two groups. one group participated in a 12-week mindfulness-based stress reduction program. the other group? participating in a program of similar structure where they learned about health topics? but without the mindfulness component. at the beginning of the study, the students reported comparable levels of things like depression and self- hostility? but after twelve weeks, the students who learned mindfulness had significantly lower levels of these symptoms and many others - such as negative affect, negative coping and posttraumatic symptom severity. this study was done in a limited sample, but it's still potentially good news. school-based mindfulness instruction could be a meaningful tool for kids with many negative stressors in their lives? and less stress in

healthier life later. with this medical minute, i'm dr. timothy johnson. the fda is proposing new rules to ban minors from using tanning beds. the fda is also proposing stricter safety regulations for adults.. including a requirement that users sign a risk acknowledgment form. officials say indoor tanning is a known contributor to skin cancer.. including a deadly form.. melanoma. congress has approved legislation banning plastic microbeads used in soaps, body washes and other personal- care products after complaints that the tiny beads were harming fish and wildlife. microbeads do not dissolve, but instead are rinsed down the drain and discharged into lakes and rivers where fish and other wildlife mistake them for food. we'll be right back with an update on tonight's forecast. your watching channel 13 action news. saturday will be another pleasant day for las vegas with some breezy southwest
