authorities have identified the motorcycle rider killed after being hit by an alleged drunk driver near elkhorn and red cinder last night. that victim is 21-year-old.... "brandon michael degrella"... from las vegas. degrella was killed when his motorcylce slammed into the pickup when the driver made a left hand turn in front of him, cutting him off marks the 119th fatal accident in metro's jurisdiction this year. the driver, 49-year-old... erik provencal.. is being charged with felony dui involving death. the nevada department of corrections.... is reporting that an inmate has died at the northern nevada corrections center's.... medical facility.... in carson city. inmate "anthony daniels"..... was a 53 year old male serving... 24 to 72 months for coercion. authorities say an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. . president obama is in hawaii tonight, but he made a stop in san bernardino before heading on vaction. he and the first lady spent about two hours with the families of the 14 people

lawmakers in carson city. it was about a year and a half ago lawmakers passed the bills allowing tesla to build its battery factory outside reno, now that same legislature this week cleared the way for a similar project in southern nevada. take pkg "our job is done." that signature sealed the governor's deal with faraday future. this after lawmakers spent four days in special session clearing the way for the electric car makers billion dollar factory. "reward does not come without risk, and i this is going to be a great reward for the company. we are going to make you proud," governor brian sandoval said. it took four bills to clear the way. that involved water issues at the apex site in north las vegas as well as set up the work training programs. they also had to approve $215 million dollars in tax incentives plus bonds for infrastructure that local lawmakers say is critical to attracting more companies. "i think it is going to be a huge opportunity. that apex place is just going to take off and that whole project is just going to be a

and hopefully the whole state," assemblyman james oscarson (r) pahrump said. the factory is expected to create 4,500 jobs itself. senator pat spearman says that number can be increased if the "i think it is also time for us to act on our opportunities for lithium and processing and developing these mines because what do electric car companies have in common lithium batteries," senator pat spearman (d) north las vegas said. north las vegas leaders who have been pushing the project as a way to help the struggling city say they are going to get to work right away. according to the national fire protection associatin, on average, christmas trees are the source of about 200 structure ires, $17 million in damage and 7 deaths each year. at umd, some ph students get to play with fire as they study how to event those fires. after extensive safty training, they conduct lab experiments at umd's department up in flames. "we have a tree that's perfectly arranged, so we have this wonderful surface area to volume ratio, so we have all these nice little bristles that could ignite," he said. with real trees, leventon a his classmates said it may seem obvious but it is critical to keep them hydrated. and while artificial trees are more difficult to ignite, once they do, they put out toxic gases. umd professor and fire protection engineering department chair jim milke said, "the smoke that's produced, we were able to exhaust through our hood but that [smoke is] going to accumulate and provide a very difficult environment for an family member lft in the home." to protect your amily and your home, the umd tudents it. don't have a space heater

turning now to a developing story... a pedestrian is in critical condition tonight after being hit by a car near las vegas boulevard and blue diamond last night. metro says the man was jaywalking when he was hit. we have very little information at this point and are awaiting more details from metro. we will bring you the latest as soon as we get it. metro police are still searching for the suspects after a violent attack inside caesars palace is caught on camera. watch the man walking up the hallway. you see a couple of people then come up from behind.. then they attack. the victim was taken down by a hard punch to the face.. and doesn't get up. police tell us the other guys took off and are still on the loose. this gives you a much-closer look at the men police are looking for right now. the victim, by the way, is in critical condition. police are investigating an officer-involved shooting at a california hospital.

details... but we do know that the shooting happened at the harbor...-u-c-l- a ...medical center... in torrance. authorities are not saying if anyone was injured in the shooting...or what caused the incident. investigators are on scene responding to the report of a "categorical use of force" police in aurora, colorado.... say one of their officers slipped on ice and accidentally fired his weapon. he ended up critically wounding the car theft suspect he had been chasing. the officer drew his gun and ordered the suspect out of the vehicle. police say that's when he accidentally fired one shot, hitting the suspect in the upper body. denver police are investigating the shooting because it happened in their jurisdiction. the officer is a 16-year veteran and has been placed on administrative leave. the suspect, who is 20 years old, is currently in critical but stable condition. move now to president obama's meeting with relatives of the victims in the san bernadino massacre. the president and first lady michelle obama held a private meeting with the families before making their way to hawaii for the holidays.
