a man is dead tonight after a shooting near downtown. and police are left with few leads. just before seven this morning, several people called police to 10th and wilson after hearing one very loud gunshot. when officers got here, they found one man lying face down with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. according to family members, the victim is 38 years old and a father of five.. they said he does not live in this area, and they don't know what he was doing there. multiple people told police they saw an older grey pickup leaving the scene. that's the only lead they have right now. if you know anything, call metro we're continuing to follow the story of an officer who was shot while on routine patrol. metro is now sharing the officer's name, and contact 13 investigative reporter stephanie zepelin is digging

metro's jurisdiction this year. organizers of the rally say they wanted to march in a neighborhood that's in serious need of motivation - choosing the city's north east side - pointing out this morning's homicide on 10th and wilson... and the triple homicide a few weeks ago on jackson avenue. the march ended with a vigil in honor of the lives lost to gun violence... in las vegas... this year. front of him, cutting him off... the death marks the 119th fatal accident in metro's jurisdiction this year. the driver...49-year-old erik provencal...is being charged with felony dui involving death. the nevada department of corrections is reporting that an inmate has died at the "northern nevada... corrections center's... medical facility"... in carson city. inmate "anthony daniels"... was a 53 year old male serving 24 to 72 months for coercion. authorities say an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. . in tonight's red, white and blue 2016 political coverage. in their last debate of the year, the democratic candidates for president shared a stage in new hampshire tonight. it focused on national security...but it was overshadowed by a political feud between frontrunner hillary clinton... and her closest rival -- bernie sanders -- ...all over alleged "dirty campaign tricks". abc's... marci gonzalez is in manchester, new hampshire with more. following impassioned opening statements - touching on the

you can see the thief walk into the store and point a shotgun at the owner, demanding money. the gas station owner began to load the money into a pastic bag. that's when the owner pulled off his shoe and threw it at the guy.. then ran out from behind the counter and pushed him out the door. an action news update tonight the path is now clear for "fara-day future".... to move into north las vegas. we were the only local station in carson city when governor sandoval signed the bills that sealed the deal for the billion dollar electric car factory. action news reporter bryan callahan has reaction from mayor john lee and the lawmakers in carson city. it was about a year and a half ago lawmakers passed the bills allowing tesla to build its battery factory outside reno, now that same legislature this week cleared the way for a similar project in southern nevada. take pkg "our job is done." that signature sealed the

future. this after lawmakers spent four days in special session clearing the way for the electric car makers billion dollar factory. "reward does not come without risk, and i this is going to be a great reward for the company. we are going to make you that involved water issues at the apex site in north las vegas as well as set up the work training programs. they also had to approve $215 million dollars in tax incentives plus bonds for infrastructure that local lawmakers say is critical to attracting more companies. "i think it is going to be a huge opportunity. that apex place is just going to take off and that whole project is just going to be a huge boon to southern nevada and hopefully the whole state," assemblyman james oscarson (r) pahrump said. the factory is expected to create 4,500 jobs itself. senator pat spearman says that number can be increased if the state can capitalize on to act on our opportunities for lithium and processing and developing these mines because what do electric car companies have in common lithium

"the permits and all the other things that take place to start a project are bing handled as of tomorrow morning," north las vegas mayor john lee. take tag governor sandoval saying when he called the special session that it was happening before christmas because the company wants to break ground next month. reporting in carson city, bryan callahan, channel 13 action news. a major security breach at computer company juniper networks has u-s officials worried. the fbi is investigating the breach involving hackers installing a back door on computer equipment that would allow them to spy on the most secure f communications. the u-s department of defense... justice department... treasury.... and several big companies.... all rely on juniper networks' products. it's not clear what... if any... classified information could be affected. the breach is believed to be

there are reports tonight that an airplane has crashed in a rural area south west of bakersfield this afternoon....it disappeared off the radar after leaving san jose ...on its way to the henderson executive airport. authorities say debris has been found. we have no word on how many passengers were on board but officials tell us there are no survivors. just after 4 o'clock this evening officials got reports of a plane and distress calling mayday. a contact 13 consumer alert tonight. thousands of cases of chocolates are being pulled from walmart shelves... because of a fear of allergies. the candy maker-- mars-- says

more than 7.4 million nevadans plan to travel for the christmas and new year's holidays. that's an overall increase of 1 percent compared to 2014. nationally, "triple-a" projects more than 100 million people will travel 50 miles or more during the holiday. las vegas is also one of the top new year's eve destination spots in the country. now for the latest on the pain at the pump for the first time since 2009, ional average price for a regular gallon of gas has dropped below $2. nearly two-thirds of gas stations are selling gasoline for $1.99 or less. experts say this is all due to a recent decline in crude oil prices.

a bit higher...paying an average of $2.53 a gallon now for a story that's positively las vegas. firefighters delivered christmas presents to a family that lost nearly everything in a house fire shortly after thanksgiving. operation fire heat and firefighters that fought that fire, stopped by the deran-leau family's ..new home to make sure their children have a great christmas. the family has children ages 18, 15, and 7. the fire happened in a home on la palma parkway near jones and the 95. everyone was able to get ok, but the house was a total loss. the family says theyre extremely grateful for all the support. cynthia deranleau/mother 11:24:44-11:24:58 "it's completely overwhelming, they've done so much. the firemen there that night helped us, and now they're helping us again. i'm so thankful for everything they've done, i'm so appreciative." the family had previously received the basic neccesities after the fire...also from operation fire heat. coming up in tonight's health

cold and flu season is here, but some states seem to do a

infectious diseases don't care about state borders. but it turns out that some states are better than others when it comes to fighting them. here's abc news... senior medical contributor... dr. timothy johnson. e.coli outbreaks? influenza epidemics... infections that attack sometimes right in the hospital. all of them health crises that we should be able to prevent, or at least reduce. but out of the fifty states in this country? five seem to be doing a better job than the rest. the list includes - delaware, kentucky, maine, new york and virginia. they're tied for top billing on preventing and responding to disease outbreaks, according to a new report from the trust for america's health, based on c- d-c data. the report also tracked vaccinations, finding more than one in four preschoolers across the country are not receiving all their recommended shots. and when it comes to the flu? only 18 states vaccinated at least half of their people in last year's flu season.
