but action news live at 3-30 starts with breaking news in the northwest part of the valley.. i'm rikki cheese. steve wolford is off today. one person is dead -- another one wounded after a shooting near jones and vegas.. this happened just after 11.. and action news reporter michael burton has been on the scene ever since.. michael, what are police saying? rikki - it's still a very active scene here and police say it will be for hours to come. let's take a closer look at the house where it all went down. believe it or not - the victim's body is still inside the home. the homeowner called police at about 11:15 this morning - saying he shot a couple of young men who broke into his home. when police arrived at the home - they were able to locate three male juveniles. a 17-year-old pronounced dead on scene - another 17-year-old

13-year-old who was unharmed. the wounded suspect is now being treated at umc - and the 13- year old has been detained. police say he never went inside the home - but it still considered a suspect. police say it appears all three young men may live in the area. none of them were carrying weapons during the break-in and the homeowner was not hurt metro police lieutenant dan mcgrath says it's terribly sad a young man lost his life, but the homeowner had the right to open fire. even though the homeowner was defending himself - police are still investigating the incident as a homicide based on the definition of the word. this is a developing story -

and mostly sunny skies. very strong winds will push in later in the day with gusts increasing to about 35mph and wind advisories possible for the area. a low pressure area will dive to the south towards las vegas bringing the chance for some rain showers to the area overnight into christmas morning. the best chance for rain showers will be to the north in lincoln county and in the mountains surrounding the valley. snow levels will start relatively low - around 4500' and falling to around 3000' which means there's a chance for some snow showers is possible behind the rain valley for christmas and beyond saturday and sunday. the skies will stay mostly cloudy from sunday onwards with very cool temperatures sticking around for monday and tuesday. breaking news out of mississippi -- a large, extremely dangerous tornado is confirmed on the ground. there is likely some serious damage in holly springs -- that's not far from memphis, tennessee..
