crash, breaking glass and a window, and he grabbed his handgun. lt. dan mcgrath lvmpd after the homeowner grabbed his gun - he started heading downstairs to see what the ruckus was about. on his way down - he encountered a young man he had never seen before - and fired several shots at him. that suspect fled through a window - even as he suffered gunshot wounds. but immediately after - another man started coming up the staircase. the homeowner fired at him also - but this time the gunshots were deadly. police responded to two emergency calls. one from the homeowner saying he shot two people and another from his neighbor saying there's a wounded man in his backward. both young men were only 17 years old. the survivor is in critical condition at umc. when police arrived - they also apprehended a 13- year-old boy who they say never went inside

assist in the break-in. that suspect is unharmed and so is the homeowner. while we were on scene - we spoke to a woman who got to the scene hours after the incident - claiming to be the step mother of one of the 17-year-olds, but metro would not give her the names of the victims because they're all minors. happened at a valley condo complex this morning. contact 13 investigative reporter stephanie zepelin has details on a shooting at the complex off fort apache and sahara. police say a man and woman were locked in one of the units at the complex behind me...when a man started pounding against their door. police say the man, in his 20s, was yelling and banging against their door, trying to get inside. the occupants warned him they had a gun, before firing several shots, hitting, and killing the man outside. people who live in the area are concerned because of what happened. but also because of how the suspect got inside to begin with. 09.27.30 my curiosityt is at a peak because i dont know how they got in here 34 they can't get through the gates 35 there's an exit on sahara but you would have to climb over a wall and it would kind of be ridiculous 44 you can't go underneath it 45 unless the guy

the biggest question tonight is whether the man in the unit was justified in shooting the person outside banging on this door. we spoke to a former metro lieutenant...who says it all comes down to one thing. we have that for you at six. live at fort apache and sahra, soc. an action news update tonight. metro police have identified a suspect in the murder of 27-year-old da-shawn antwon fouch hawkins from san jose, california. 23-year-old de angelo mathews faces one count of open murder. mathews was already in custody at the clark county detention center on an unrelated incident. police had been searching for a suspect since hawkins was discovered dead from an apparent head injury in the valet area of the paris hotel and casino back in may. this all happened after the "fight of the century" between floyd mayweather jr. and manny pacquiao. action news is tracking the

roof on the ground there still still crime scene tape left entire roof may collapse still. part of the reason the fire got so out of control is the smoke detectors were not working. new management just took over this property days ago. since the fire - the family who was living here tells me the company has been bending over backwards to make everything right. maintince crews are going door to door, checking everyone's alarms. they even brought in a crew to make sure the family could move into a new home in time for the holidays. but it's not just the property managers who are stepping up. the whole communoty is rallying behind the family - bringing by clothes, gift cards, even christmas decorations so their 2 year old can still believe in holiday spirit. kristopher youts home destroyed in fire ((we've had people that we only know in passing. people that we've never met. places we didn't even know existed have all come together to help and it's a little overwhelming.)) obviously a devastating situation especially just a few days

dead on normal for this time of year and mostly sunny skies. very strong winds will push in later in the day with gusts increasing to about 35mph and wind advisories possible for the area. a low pressure area will dive to the south towards las vegas bringing the chance for some rain showers to the area overnight into christmas morning. the best chance for rain showers will be to the north in lincoln county and in the mountains surrounding the valley. snow levels will start relatively low - around 4500' and falling to around 3000' which means there's a chance for some snow showers is possible behind the rain showers as some very cold air pushes in behind the low. that storm will bring some very cold air into the las vegas valley for christmas and beyond with high temperatures barely making it out of the 40s for christmas day and will remain in the mid and upper 40s for saturday and sunday. the skies will stay mostly cloudy from sunday onwards with very cool temperatures sticking

the problems are getting worse for japanese ..air bag maker... takata -- the u-s transportation authority has confirmed that an eighth person has died because of the faulty airbags. authorities say the teen passed away back in july -- but until last week.. the family wasn't aware that his honda accord was involved in the takata recall. here in the u-s, 23-million air bag inflators have been recalled. home sales went up in november, but only because fewer people bought new homes in october than intially reported. the housing market has strengthened for much of this year, although it has noticeably cooled off since september. for the year....
