neighborhood blocked off. a teenager is dead and another critically hurt after a shooting near washington and jones. chopper 13 first on the scene of the breaking news. police say both teens were shot while breaking into a home with a 13- year-old. action news reporter michael burton joins us live from the scene with the latest. the street is a lot quiter now that most of the investigators have left. but without all the yellow tape we were able to get that much closer to the home where the shooting took place.

i have to say the mood is erie - knowing that someone was killed behind these walls. the victim was 17-years-old. "there was a life taken, but we have seen a number of younger people in gun violence and being involved in criminal acts." lt. dan mcgrath lvmpd 9 secs the homeowner told police it started when he heard his window shatter. he then grabbed his gun - started heading downstairs - and on his way down - he encountered a young man he had never seen before - and fired several shots at him. that suspect fled through a window - even as he suffered gunshot wounds. but immediately after - another man started coming up the staircase. the homeowner fired at him also - but this time the gunshots were deadly. police responded to two emergency calls. one from the homeowner saying he shot two people and another years old. the survivor is in critical condition at umc.

apprehended a 13-year-old boy who they say never went inside one neighbor is not surprised by the incident. she says the neighborhood is going down hill fast. "it's a bad area. it's becoming so...it looks like everyday that we live here, it's getting worse." ruby taylor neighbor 7 secs. as you can see - police are still at the home gathering evidence and they'e still questioning all parties involved - including the parents of the surviving suspects. they say it's a shame this happened so close to christmas day. reporting live - michael burton - channel 13 action news. a similar shooting happened at another home here in the valley. one man is dead and another could face criminal charges.... it all depends on what really happened at a valley condo complex this morning.

mathews was already in custody at the clark county detention center on an unrelated incident. police had been searching for a suspect since hawkins was discovered dead from an apparent head injury in the valet area of the paris hotel and casino back in may. this all happened after the "fight of the century" between floyd mayweather jr. and manny pacquiao. new at 6 tonight metro police need your help in identifying two women as part of a robbery investigation. according to police an unknown man will call convenience stores and claim to be a corporate supervisor conducting an audit of the store finances and that the employee is to give cash to a woman who will enter the store. two different women have taken money from several valley stores using this scam. an action news update tonight. rooftop solar installation company... "solar city"... says it will stop selling and installing panels in nevada. solar city issued a statement saying the nevada "public utilities commission"....

(butted with) (take sot scott coffee, public defender 01:35) keep in mind, she turned herself in, immeidateily after the event and asked for metro to be called. it was a brief proceeding. lakeisha holloway shackled and stone faced. her public defenders say she's distraught...the wouldn't discuss any possible defenses--like insanity just saying they had a lot of work to do and the media has actually helped them find leads. this as the district attorney calls her actions appalling. describes shocking video. and also opens up with how a 32 year- old arizona mom died. trapped under the suspects car. as her husband begged holloway to stop. slams right into the front of a store in north miami. three guys jump out.. climb in through the garage meant to keep them out and head right for the store's robbins jeans-- they cost between 3 and 700 dollars each. after leaving there, the group was caught on camera, again... breaking into another store where they stole 11 hover boards and more designer jeans. police are still searching for the suspects. caught on camera late last night in summerlin..

a low pressure area will dive to the south towards las vegas bringing the chance for some rain showers to the area overnight into christmas morning. the best chance for rain showers will be to the north in lincoln county and in the mountains surrounding the valley. snow levels will start relatively low - around 4500' and falling to around 3000' which means there's a chance for some snow showers is possible behind the rain showers as some very cold air pushes in behind the low. that storm will bring some very cold air into the las vegas valley for christmas and beyond with high temperatures barely making it out of the 40s for christmas day and will remain in the mid and upper 40s for saturday and sunday. the skies will stay mostly cloudy from sunday onwards with very cool temperatures sticking around for monday and tuesday.
