60mph down the colorado river valley and there could be gusts to about 70mph at the hoover dam. thank you michael...we are following a developing story near downtown. police just arrested "maria escalante".. accused of shooting and killing her husband at the plaza hotel. this happened last night just before midnight...we're told the body was found somewhere on the sixth floor of the south tower. as you can imagine, it was pretty scary for guests staying on that floor.

rooms. we are following this story and will bring you the latest information as it comes into our newsroom. it's been a christmas nightmare for a valley woman desperately searching for her husband. 72-year- old wallace inkenbrandt reportedly went missing yesterday - and police have been looking for him since. they traced his cell phone to the california state line. that's where action news reporter michael burton joins is live with an update. live intro: rikki/jacqui - i'm here at buffalo bill's casino - one of the establishments on the state line that authorities and family members have searched. they say he was driving a silver nissan sentra and they haven't been able to find that either. wallace inkenbrandt was last seen yesterday at 10am - when he left his home in the valley to run an errand. "our heavenly father is watching down right now and he's going to find him. he's gonna bring him back to us." 8 secs that was wallace's wife breaking down in the arms of a friend. she says he left the house yesterday - headed to the

he wanted to buy food for relatives visiting from out of town. at about noon - she got a text from him saying he was almost home - but he never showed up. family members immediately began searching the area for hours - found nothing - and then called police. police traced his phone to an area near the state line - and began searching casinos, hotels, and other businesses in this area - but they have yet to find the phone. his family is extremely worried about his heath. he has dementia and cancer. he was supposed to get a very important shot yesterday - and i'm told he could die without it. meanwhile in britain, crowds waited hours for a glimpse of the queen... who relfected on the meaning of christmas. at this time of year, few sights evoke more feelings of cheer and goodwill than the twinkling lights of a christmas tree. meantime here in the states, president obama called on americans to thank our troops and veterans for their service. the president made those remarks during his annual christmas address to the nation. he and first lady michelle obama said it's important to treat one another with love and compassion and care for those in need. it's what the holidays are about: coming together as one american family to celebrate our blessings and the values we hold dear. the president and his family are spending the holidays in hawaii, as they do everywhere. still ahead on action news at five....soldiers around their world are celebrating the holiday without the company of their loved ones...but they're making the best of the situation.

for sub-freezing temperatures tonight, but strong winds will keep temperatures at or just slightly below freezing for the most part. the winds will increase tomorrow as a secondary low pressure area passes from our northeast to our southeast. the winds, along with a reinforcing shot of cold air mean that wind chills will be in the 20s to start out, and 30s for the majority of the day. the sunshine won't do too much to warm things up as highs will be in the mid 40s, and some areas outside the valley won't break out of the 30s. a wind advisory is possible for the las vegas valley tomorrow. sunday the winds will die out but very cold air aloft will keep temperatures chilly around the valley. highs will in the upper 40s with a few more clouds around.
