announced a review wil be conducted for both officers cleared of shooting a 12 year old boy in ohio. this video was seen around the country. the officers shoot tamir rice.. playing in a park with a toy gun. abc's elizabeth hur has the latest on a grand jury's decision to not indict the police involved. elizabeth hur live intro: the prosecutor did not take any questions but noted that he had recommended that no charges be filed.. that the evidence shows, the officers had reason to fear for their lives.. pkg script: sot -- tim mcginty / cuyahoga county prosecutor: "the grand jury declined to charge either officer involved in the shooting death of 12-year-old tamir rice.... sot -- tim mcginty / cuyahoga involved that day - the evidence did not indicate criminal conduct by police. rice was shot and killed by officer timothy loehmann just seconds after they arrived at a cleveland playground in november, last year.. two months ago.. the grand jury was convened to determine if officer loehmann or his partner, officer frank garmback was criminally

the officers always maintained.. they believed the 12-year-old was armed.. it turned out to be a bb gun. natsot -- "i have here tamir's gun and an actual m1911 gun." according to authorities.. the grand jury determined that to the officers.. the toy gun looked real and prosecutors say newly enhanced video showed it was quote "indisputable" that rice was removing his gun from his waist when he was shot. sot -- tim mcginty / cuyahoga county prosecutor "he may have intended to hand it over.. but there was no way for the officers to know that... // "the outcome not cheerable.... elizabeth hur oncam close: the rice family said in a statement.. they are saddened but not surprised by this outcome.. adding that for months.. the prosecutor has abused the grand jury process.. the department of justice also responded in a statement saying they will continue their independent review of this case.

is picking what food to eat... especially since we've all been indulging in those holiday treats. if you're heading to the movies this weekend, here are a few tips. to quench your thirst... consider a giant water instead of a giant soda. if you want popcorn... get a small and hold the butter. stay away.... from pretzel bites... they may seem small.. but are packed with hundreds of calories... even without the cheese! and... instead of getting candy, bring some dried fruit and nuts from home... instead. asthma's a common problem for american children.. but for some demographics.. that's changing. with more, here's abc news senior medical contributor dr. timothy johnson. script children and inhalers?we started seeing them together a lot more in the eighties and nineties, when childhood asthma was on the rise. between 1980 and 1995, the number of kids with asthma doubled. since then, doctors have been working to reverse the trend. so, how are the asthma rates today? c-d-c researchers reviewed data from 2001-2013?finding that the

asthma has gone down since the year 2000. for kids four years or younger, asthma rates are much lower than before, which is good news. for children living in poverty, however, asthma rates have increased. the same is true for children living in southern states, and for children in their teens. clearly there's still a long way to go in keeping asthma rates down across the board? but, with any luck, in coming years we'll all breathe a little easier. with this medical minute, i'm dr. timothy johnson. we'll be right back.
