where it's headed next. plus.. chilly nights ahead in las vegas. tonight a warning.. what you shouldnt do to keep your family warm. but first.. a young girl attacked by a police dog. and.. it's all caught on camera. thank you for staying with at frightening dash cam video... the video was released after a henderson police k-9 bit a 17-month-old girl in what the police chief says was a case of miscommunication. action news reporter bryan callahan reviewed the footage and has the story. this video comes from a january 2015 incident... but the dash cam footage from five henderson police units on scene was just made public this week. cam 2 - "there is an infant in that car." that came from one of the officers just moments after another officer on scene released his k9 towards a car police were looking at in connection with a robbery. that's girl's father had already been detained by officers... who quickly realized he was not the suspect... 00.05.20.00 "you don't look like the person. but 12 seconds later... the dog is seen running to car. from anonther angle... you see that officer release

ten seconds later he sprints to the car... after realizing the young girl was inside. quick nats of crying. in the video she can be heard screaming and crying... as she suffered nine small puncture wounds from the bite. after realizing the mistake... the k9 officer can be heard saying on the dash cam that he thought the car belonged to the suspect. 00.08.20.00 "we didn't know it was unrelated til after, because i'm thinking he was our suspect." henderson's police chief releasing a statement saying the officer had the best of intentions to protect his fellow officers... but adding the dog may have been used too quickly and saying there could have been more communication between officers before the dog was used. henderson police say the k-9 officer voluntarily left the unit for the patrol division following the incident. reporting in the newsroom, bryan callahan, channel 13 action news. now... to developments in your weather. here's a live look.... out at las vegas. overnight lows are colder than they should be. chief meteorologist.... bryan scofield's joining us now. bryan... how long is this cold.... going to last. below average temps will
