tonight the strip was packed with cars... like normal... but in just 24 hours those cars will be gone. replaced by hundreds of thousands of tourists ready to ring in 2016. a large crowd will also be under the canopy at fremont street. the job of protecting all of the revelrs falls to metro police and local firefighters. 13.13.03.00 "we will have upward of 100 personnel, both in a support function and operationally, like i saind on and around the strip." clark county fire will have two extra engines and 10 ambulances staged near the strip. that is in addition to the stations that normally serve the strip corridor and private ambulances that will be in the area to assist with the crowd of 300-thousand people.

new tonight. .. friends and family are remembering 38 year old shamar hudson.. who was killed on his motorcycle during a memorial ride for another biker who recently passed away it u.s. tonight.. a fundraiser is being held in his honor. action news anchor jacqui heinrich is live near lake mead jacqui. hudson, who was better known as 'big boi'...left behind three kids of his own...but he also played a big part in the lives of his girlfriend's two children....who he treated like his own. without hudson here, the family's not only facing the grief of loss...but also a financial burden. . those kids have a bunch of uncles right now that are really, really looking out for them. we are taking donations right now because one of his son's his bithday is coming up. hudson's friends and family

liquor store yesterday. this happened at 'jones liquor' near the 215 and jones. you can see the man walk in and look around on the shelves before taking something. he then walks to the register.. hands the cashier a piece of paper and makes a run for it. we're told he got away with two bottles of high end scotch. new developments tonight on a story we're following closely. d-a steve wolfson now says the woman accused of running down more than 30 people on the las vegas strip was under the influence of marijuana. according to the toxicology report.. lakeisha holloway tested positive for marijuana and was over the legal limit. but.. according to the head physician at umc.. it still doesn't prove her driving was affected. "if you drink an ounce of alcohol, youre under the influence of alcohol, if you drink 10 ounces of alcohol, youre drunk. but youre still under the influence of alcohol. so at what level, it has to be determined scientifically, at what level youre clearly impaired.

what that is." wolfson says the results don't change the murder charges against her. one woman was killed in the crash earlier this month and dozens were injured. holloway is due back in court january 20th. . police are investigating a deadly knife attack early this morning near swenson and twain. when officers arrived.. they found a bloody knife in the street. a security guard at the apartment complex was able to catch up with the suspect.. 29 year old gianni raneri. according to investigators.. the suspect and victim both had a relationship with the same woman.. and witnesses saw them yelling at each other before the stabbing. a friend of the victim talked to action news about what happened next. eric smart, held dying friend 00:00:13-00:00:27 "i had two choices in that split moment: take down the person that did it or save a life, and i tried to save his. i guess i didn't do it." the victim died at the hospital. raneri is facing murder charges

we're learning more tonight about the relationship between a man and his son.. before a deadly shooting. friends describe eugene tshiyombo as a quiet unlv student. they say his dad was former military.. and ran a strict household. so much so.. his son reportedly couldn't have a smart phone and had to stop taking part in after school events because they ran too late at night. police say the two had an argument the day before the body of tshiyombo's 68 year old father was found sunday. two more people have recently died in clark county from the flu. the southern nevada health district says one was a child under the age of five.. the other was a woman over 50. two men also died from the flu before five.. the other was a woman over 50. february.. so it's still not a bad idea to get a vaccine. happening right now.. a weather emergency is unfolding in the nation's heartland.

leaving 25 million people in danger from texas to florida.. in the worst flooding in more than 20 years. in missouri.. dramatic rescues like this were carried out by first responders. one man was pulled from the roof of his home by a ladder truck. he later told rescuers he'd been there all night. hundreds of homes have been evacuated and federal officials say 19 levees could breach. the flooding is blamed for at least 20 deaths in missouri and 20 deaths in missouri and illinois. most of those victims were killed in cars while driving on flooded roadways. in tonight's rwb2016 political coverage.. donald trump now says his presidential campaign is a war. trump made the remark during a rally today in south carolina.. as he went into full attack mode. trump unloaded on several republican rivals.. especially jeb bush.. then took aim at the democratic frontrunner. trump: low-energy can be applied to hillary.

21 people are recovering from injuries after turbulence on an air canada flight today. the flight from shanghai to toronto was diverted to calgary. c-t-v reports several people were removed from the jet on stretchers. air canada says 332 passengers and 19 crew members were on board. 3 of the injured were children.

three counseling sessions. hoverboard new tonight.. another report of a hoverboard suddenly burstin into flames. this time.. a new jersey family learned the hard way. his hoverboard is smoking in his garage. repeating we need the fire department to respond. firefighters got to hector sierra's home to find his 13 year old son's hoverboard was still on. he says his son used it twice.. then left it in his room when it started smoking. sierra took the hoverboard to the garage where he says more smoke came out. the upper levels around central nevada and decent upper level winds helping to transport the cold air southward. that means that new years eve and day will see temperatures just a smidge below 50 with breezy north winds making those days feel even cooler. highs tomorrow will be 49 and friday we'll see a high of 48 to start off 2016. new years eve night will be pretty chilly as well with temperatures around midnight in the 38 range and generally calm winds at the surface. the complicating thing gets into atmospheric layers as winds just above the surface (200-400 feet) will likely be stronger overnight which could curtail fireworks on new years. the weather during the first

with a bang as well with some substantial looking storms headed towards southern california and las vegas. las vegas will likely struggle to see much sunshine from saturday on through most of next week with a series of increasingly potent and moisture laden systems push into the desert southwest. these storms are forecast to move in from nearly due wewhich is a much wetter direction for southern nevada and initial models are saying steady rain could fall basically tuesday night through thursday morning with snow levels eventually falling to near 4,000 feet by friday. we'll continue to monitor these systems as the week progresses.> still ahead on action news live at 11.. the latest on the search for a north las vegas womn who went
