rikki-- i want to take you right to the damage here. this is where the metro police car hit the fence of if this tennis court crashing through this lower brick wall. it happened at about 10am this morning and the car has been towed away - but take a look at the images we captured earlier. police say two officers were inside of the vehicle - chasing a suspect. they say the suspect ran into the parking lot here at clark high school. they followed him into the lot and lost control of the car crashing into the wall. no officers were hurt, but the suspect did escape and the search for that person continues. there were a few landscapers on campus when this happened and none of them were hurt. reporting live near penwood and arville - channel 13 action news. a teen shot minutes after new years, and the suspect is nowhere to

went through a wall at the house, and hit the teen. it happened near sahara and sloan. again, the suspect is on the run. and police don't have a description. officers say this shooting might just have been a terrible accident... as someone was shooting off rounds to celebrate the new year. and that's something neighbors say scares them. "that's crazy. that's insane, no idea that was going on" (butted with) "didn't know anything that happened last night. i didn't hear anything" meantime, the teen is recovering and should be ok. new information on... a deadly police shooting. we're now learning why police officers say they were forced to open fire. u-s marshalls were doing surveillance on a man...wanted in arizona for multiple violent felonies. it all happened near d-i and durango yesterday. at some point the suspect took off, so the marshalls called in metro for help. when officers found him, they say he appeared to be holding a firearm. but they weren't sure because he was covering the object with his hand. they told him to empty his hands, but instead he started walking toward them. that's when they opened fire.

that the suspect was wanted for attempted murder, because this was a residential area, and because they believed he was armed with a firearm, they discharged their firearm upon the subject striking him several times. cpt. matt mccarthy lvmpd police say the object in the suspect's hand was a cellphone. the man died on-scene. no officers were injured. it was a chilly new year's eve... but it's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend. and you'll want to enjoy this weekend, because we're in for a weather shake- up next week! there could be some rain! let's go to meteorologist karla huelga and 'weather first.' karla-- a series of low pressure systems will skirt the west coast starting tonight. those storms will start to throw some thick high level clouds over the west coast with moderate rain to california north into washington. las vegas will see some of the effects of that moisture but it'll only be in the form of will concede some progress and allow highs into the low 50s for the first time since christmas day. around the world, there were

going into the new year's holiday. well, the celebrations are over, and it was overall a success for law enforcement nationwide. over in pasadena, california... the more than 700-thousand spectators and participants of the 127th rose parade and rose bowl are being protected by the largest force in history. there are more officers on patrol, cameras and even aircraft watching from above. "we're enhancing technologies, so there'll be cameras that are up and down the parade route. those are monitored 24/7 by law enforcement officials. we have more than two dozen k-9 bomb detection dogs that will be out on patrol along the

the game, as well" more to new york... the new year rang in safely for the millions of people packed into times square... all protected by nearly 6-thousand officers. and in munich, trains are back up and running. just an hour before the clock struck midnight, police shut down two stations because of a terror threat. officials think isis was behind the threat. the high level threat also canceled fireworks displays in paris and brussels. here at home -- there were no major incidents. but 8 people were arrested on the las vegas strip... one for a felony. over on fremont street, two people were taken into custody. these are just preliminary numbers. we'll get the full report monday. depending on how hard you went last night... you might have had some trouble getting up today. the struggle is very real for some partiers... who came to vegas for new year's... and left on planes today. action news reporter parker collins spoke with some of them about how they're doing. < 3:28:54-3:29:11 it's new

his arrest last april. the medical examiner who performed gray's autopsy also said there was no evidence of a previous injury. some sad news in the music world -- iconic r&b star natalie cole has died at the age of 65. the daughter of legendary singer nat king cole reportedly died last night of congestive heart failure in los angeles. cole also had kidney troubles dating back to 2008. she was diagnosed with hepatitis c...which the grammy winner attributed to her struggles cocaine and heroin. her most memorable hits include "this will be," "unforgettable" and "inseparable." the new year is bringing a promising start to the midwest...devastated by those historic floods. in some areas...rivers are cresting, levees are holding, and now many highways are re-opening. but in others, they're waiting for what's next. we'll have more on the record flooding.. when we come back.

las vegas fire and rescue says crews were responding to a house fire near maryland parkway and bruce yesterday, when the accident happened. the firefighter was checked out by paramedics on scene. as for the house, crews say it was vacant. they think it was started by squatters. officials are now studying that explosion at a radio active waste dump in beatty... so they can learn how to prevent another blast from happening. the fire marshall's final report found that rainwater seeping into the corroded barrels of waste caused the explosion. now officials are working to find out who is at fault, and what corrective action is needed. no one was injured during the explosion back in october. now to the midwest, and those historic floods-- it seems like the new year is bringing some relief. flood waters are starting to recede... so some major roadways are being re-opened.. but problems for many.. aren't over yet. here's abc's elizabeth hur. < two main higways.. flooded and shut down for days.. are now back open in missouri.. a welcome sight for residents.. flow of slightly warmer air in from the south. monday is where things change for the wetter - a weak low pressure system will miss vegas to the south but could toss enough moisture towards the city to spark off a few showers in the afternoon. that storm is the first in a line of storms headed towards southern nevada with models forecasting up to 1.25" of rain by friday night. the heaviest rain looks to fall tuesday into wednesday of next week with another whopper coming for thursday and friday. each successive storm will be cooler than the one preceding it, which will push snow levels lower and lower with each system. snow levels will eventually fall to about 4,000 feet by friday afternoon. temperatures all week will hover in the upper 40s to low 50s, low temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. to california north into washington. las vegas will see some of the effects of that moisture but
