9:23 am
open and we trap the polluted air in our home. >> during extreme temperatures in the summer time, it's worse? >> absolutely, the less you go outside, the more you're breathing the air indoor. >> and the homes are built now to be sealed. tight. so what are the symptoms then of toxic air? you're hacking up a lung, i've had my air ducts cleaned before, and i know how much better i was breathing after it was done, this can really affect your health. >> no doubt. being fatigued, asthma, and all the things that come with either allergies or not being able to breathe well.
9:24 am
kids, old people? anyone? >> absolutely, older people have lower immune symptoms, and kids are crawling on the floor. we put chemical ins the carpet, stain resistant, and fire retardant. >> so what do we do to improve all of this? we see the different air filters, there's the cheap cheap one, the fantastic one, but they're all the same dumb material. >> absolutely, one of the things we can do is clean the air centrally. every bit of air that's in your house, passes through your system, every 16 hours of use. the best way to clean it is using the central air-conditioning unit. in the video, a condensed version of an air-conditioning unit. we're pumping a full cigarette in the box there.
9:25 am
>> and also a stop smoking ad. >> it's all in your lungs when you snoke. but again, filling it with smoke, to give you an idea. the fan on the bottom, it's moving the air around and we flip the switch for the air cleaner up here. you can see within five seconds, the box is completely cleared. we didn't pull the air out. >> but it comes back in 16 hours. how is it working? >> every 16 hours of use, it'll pass through the filter. every 16 hours of use, you're completely filtering your entire house. it has a stand alone filtration system in the corner of the room, this is using the entire system. >> is this the typical filter? >> you brought a filter. >> this is a dynamic air cleaner.
9:26 am
cleaner. it's using electricity to stop the dirt and dust. >> how does it work? >> wired directly to your heating and air-conditioning system. anytime the air is pulled through the system, it sends a 24 volt charge to the pad inside here. that carbon pad will filter out 97% of the air, at .3 microns. it's a third of a width of a hair. you can see how much the dirt and dust is trapped inside of this system. >> is it expensive to wire it to the house? >> not terribly expensive, it does cost money obviously. >> it's not a big production. >> no. >> if someone wants it, it's easily done by you guys. >> absolutely. >> this demo -- that's what we saw.
9:27 am
it's such a good visual, you don't realize what's happening in the home. >> the smoke molecule is very small, at .3, that's on the same stage as different bacteria, the flu virus, things are at that level. this is a visual demonstration so it shows it really does capture. when the fan is on, it's just going through the filter. but we turn the charge on, it pulls it on a molecular level. and it's the same with dust. >> you have a special offer for viewers. >> we do, for the first ten people, we have a free assessment. indoor air quality assessment for free, and then we'll give a 40% discount if you mention the morning blend. we don't normally do that, if
9:28 am
we'll give 40% off. thatcleanings, filters, and a lot more things than this to help clear the air. >> it's cool, the filters are passive, and panty hose pretty much. this is something that's actively trying to get the molecules, and make it a cleaner home. >> absolutely. >> thank you very much. >> thank you. alaskan heating & air-conditioning is offering free indoor air quality inspections to the first ten callers. that's an $89 value. and plus f you mention the morning blend, you'll receive 40% off all indoor air quality services. >> for more information, check out the website or call the number on your screen. still to come, this adorable
