you asked us to investigate. if you take a look at this house you can see some of the damage that's been done. the garage is off it's tracks, there's old mattresses, broken glass and garbage all around... and the homeowners daughter and neighbors say it was done by squatters. neighbors say the area use to be quiet and safe but now they barely recognize it because of squatters taking over one of the homes. robert woods, live in neighborhood 11:50:17:00 the quality of life here in the nieghborhood, you know you just bring in a bad element you know things are going to start daughter a couple of blocks away. the daughter barbara says she just recently learned that squatters had taken over the vacant home. barbara 13:19:46;00 there were squatters in there and there were quite a few in there. she says she quickly took action but they'd already damaged the home. 13:24:50:00 it's like a real nightmare, to think that someone can actually come into

channel 13 action news. first on action news.. take a look at this video... a viewer managed to get closer than any news photographers as paramedics rushed a man to an ambulance after he was shot near las vegas boulevard and serene. while police were on the scene.. they discovered the same suspect was threatening to blow-up the apartments. several units had to be evacuated for hours. no super img0413 00:00:22-00:00:30 "my kids were inside the house. we were scared because we heard the shots almost in our bedroom. turns out.. the suspicious device wasn't dangerous. and the man accused of makng the threat should be okay. police are still looking for two shooting suspects. a tragic accident involving a pedestrian.. struck and killed along the 15.. is blamed for some long traffic backups today near jean. action news reporter marissa kynaston is live near the scene with the latest on what happened.. and an update on the traffic situation.

its free and clear out here now-- earlier this afternoon-- southbound traffic was bacled up to the st rose turnoff. it was a combination of holiday travelers-- and the cleanup from this mornings accident. this is video from when that happened. just before ten this morning-- a semi truck hit and killed somebody walking alongside the interstate. its still unclear why that man was walking along the roadway. but witnesses did say they saw that man walking in and out of the travel lane rught before getting hit. no more traffic from that accident-- but there does seem to be traffic building up in the southbound lanes near stateline from holiday travelers. reporting live in jean-- mk-- ch13an. we're following weather developments: another storm is already moving on shore...does that mean rain for the valley?" chief meteorologist bryan scofield is tracking the possible change...

it happened at a large warehouse in the downtown area. around 80 firefighters were on the scene at the height of the blaze. fortunately.. the building was vacant. three nearby structures were evacuated as a precaution but so far.. no reports of anyone being injured. five americans detained for months.. even years in iran..

platform. this one ended in a spectacular failure. the booster successfully carried a satellite into orbit.. but as it was about to make a soft landing on the platform.. it toppled over and exploded. the video was posted on instagram by space-x ceo elon musk. the company says one of the booster's legs failed to latch on the platform. musk says it apparently occured because of an ice buildup from the condensation of heavy fog at liftoff. this was the company's 4th attempt to safely land a booster rocket at sea. a valley man says he's being discriminated against for his medical marijuana use. he says he was fired from his job for failing a drug test.. and is now being denied unemployment benefits.. so he came to action news for help.

the march marked the end of what was called "96 hours of direct action" by an activist group called the anti- police terror project. the march eventually made its way to the golden gate bridge -- stopping traffic for about half an hour. the las vegas mayor pro tem steven ross is holding a news conference tomorrow to make an announcement regarding the issue of solar panels at homes here in las vegas. this comes following a recent ruling by the public utilities commission that reduced the kick-back to solar customers. that same ruling also led to one major company -- solarcity -- to pack up and leave the state. the news conference will be held at 9:30 tomorrow morning at las vegas city hall. thousands of people lined the streets of downtown today to honor and celebrate the life of doctor martin luther king junior. the annual parade has quickly turned into one of the biggest celebrations of the year. over 100 floats, marching bands, performers, and law enforcenemtn, all took part. it's not just for a day of
