action news live at 3-30 begins with breaking news. chaos at a north las vegas home and now.. a homicide investigation. i'm steve wolford. and i'm rikki cheese. a woman is dead, and a man is in custody. contact 13 investigative reporter stephanie zepelin has details on what happened. information is very limited right now and as you can see, police as keeping us really far away from the home where it happened. north las vegas police say they got a disturbance call around 9:45 this morning. when they got on scene, an adult woman was dead. they arrested an adult man in the house and are calling this a domestic. they could not tell us how the man and woman knew each other. they said officers are interviewing people off scene, and several people on scene. they said there were a handful of people in the home at the time of the incident, including children. michelle orzoff lives near home where this happened 12.25.10 we've lived here for a

quiet neighborhood 13 and to see this happening is kind of shocking old calls as part of their investigation. live near civic center and cheyenne, soc and now to latest on that police shooting in front of the bellagio. we just learned the name of the officer who opened fired, and the man he was shooting at. that suspect is this man -- 20-year- old khaleal black. and the officer who shot at him -- is 45-year-old george smith. police are still investigating why black was waving a gun at people and weaving in and out of traffic friday night. when the officer opened fire, his shots missed black and instead grazed 2-pedestrians, including a child. smith is on routine paid administrative leave right now, black will make his first court appearance wednesday morning.

california for 3 inmates.. all considered armed and dangerous. and there's already a 50- thousand dollar reward for information leading to their capture. abc's brandi hitt has more on how they escaped from a maximum security prison. < the all-out manhunt for these three escaped inmates is expanding in southern california... with the f-b-i and u-s marshall's office joining the search. sot -- lt. dave sawyer / orange county sheriff's dept. "each of these inmates are extremely dangerous and should be presumed to be armed." investigators believe friday's break-out from this orange county maximum security jail... happened just after the daily 5-am inmate body count. the men -- first cutting through this metal grate in a holding cell. sot -- lt. jeff hallock / orange county sheriff's dept. "they went from the plumbing tunnels... and made their way to the roof." that's when police say they used bed sheets to create a rope like this... rappelling down. it's believed this shadowy fbi agent & abc news consultant "the immediate thing that jumped out to me is they had help... and probably inside help." the next body count wasn't until after 8-pm... giving them a 16-hour head

candidate jeb bush is coming to nevada this week. he's scheduled to hold a rally tomorrow at the northeastern nevada museum in elko. an avalanche has killed one person, and injured another. it happened yesterday near washington state's mount baker ski area. search and rescue crews are still trying to find that person's body. authorities are still investigating why the pair were there. it's the second avalanche death in the state, in one-month. an earthquake has people rattled 24-hours later...after hitting alaska. it caused gas leaks and fires, and now has 30-families out of their homes. the magnitude 7-point-1 quake woke people up early yesterday. it struck about 160-miles southwest of anchrage. (ella mann/felt earthquake) "something went falling down on my bed and i didn't know what it was." 'making a murder' - the netflix series that has captivated the nation...speaking out from prison for the first time since the show's debut. [gfx] steven avery writing this 3 page letter to abc affiliate wisn's collen henry saying "the real killer is still out there...who is he stalking now?" ((keyables)) avery is serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of teresa halbach. he previously spent 18 years in prison for a rape he didn't commit...and was in the middle of a 36 million dollar civil lawsuit against the local sheriff's department for that wrongful conviction...when halbach was killed.
