at this moment.. gina... the victim car was headed north on lamb when that red car you see in the middle of the intersection tried to make a left hand turn and side swiped that car you see flipped over. the passenger of the rolled over car died instantly. the driver of that car is in critical condition with a skull fracture. metro said the driver at fault has been cooperative but is extremely shooken up. lots of people hanging around the scene tonight are concerned and even fired up about this intersection because of the number of accidents here. they say the permissive green light is not clear to drivers that youre supposed to yield when turning left. leonard sanchez "oh it's his fault cause he didn't read the sign?! you try reading the sign at night. all you can see is that green light. and if he didn't speak english or he can't read english - then he's in trouble." the driver who metro says caused the crash could be charged with vehicular homicide. but thats up to the prosecutor. reporting live gina lazara

an update now to a story we first reported as breaking news. a valley high school teacher is on leave tonight after being arrested on allegations of sexual misconduct with a student earlier this month. details are limited on jillian lafave.. but we do have calls out to the clark county school district for more information. new tonight at 11: the frantic 9-1-1 calls... after a home break-in..... in mountain's edge! "is somebody coming or not? i mean what do i got to do (expletive) (okay) (expletive!) our action news camera's were the only one's there... when detectives arrived at the man's house.... two and a half hours later. action news reporter.... mahsa saeidi... has listened to the 9-1- 1 calls... and talked to the victim and police. she's live outside metro headquarters.... to explain the delay... mahsa? tricia...so many break-ins in the valley! scary videos like this... are not uncommon! many victims

to get to their house. tonight .. we got clarity from police. "they could take the (expletive) house by now." "dispatch: i'll let them know you're upset about about the delay." "upset? i want to kill people." michael prescott's desperation clear! more than an hour after his first call for help! he came home friday to find his home ransacked! shattered glass..that shattered his sense of security! "i could clearly see the house has been entered, i don't even know if someone is still in the house, i ran outside." that was the first 9-1-1 call. 18 minutes later. no cops. standing outside...freezing with his 4 year-old. he told dispatch this: "let them know i'm entering my house with a firearm, i am armed and i'm going in. goodbye." turns out. that was just his frustration talking. but that could have taken police away from a more pressing situation. why? "the lvmd receives approximately 1.2 million 9-1-1 calls a year." how are cops dispatched? first to crimes in progress! or when a person's life is in danger! next: when both parties are still present...a domestic situation. finally...crimes that have already occurred... which appeared to be the case here: "unfortunately, there are times when individuals must wait due to resources on the ground and we just have to say be patient." the man police arrested this morning after finding a woman dead inside a house near civic center and cheyenne. marland jackson was taken into custody after police say he stabbed his girlfriend several times with a sharpening tool. officers say jackson then called police and explained what happened. according to police.. they had been called to the house before for other disturbances. neighbors say they were shocked to hear what happened. michelle orzoff lives near home where this happened 12.25.28 everybody keeps to themselves and as far as i'm concerned it a safe neighborhood jackson has been booked into the las vegas city jail on one count of murder with a deadly weapon. the name of the victim has not been released. a north las vegas family's home is ransacked and the whole thing is caught on camera. the surveillance video shows several men going through the house near tropical and commerce. the homeowners say they were inside for about 45 minutes.. taking property and trashing the place. the homeowners more than 30 thousand dollars worth things were taken including three guns. now...

across southern nevada tonight. meteorologist karla huelga is in the weather center now with what we can expect this week. karla. the breezy winds we've seen today will taper off a bit tonight, before picking back up tomorrow afternoon. expect sustained wind speeds between 10-15 miles per hour tomorrow, with highs in the upper 50s and sunny skies. high pressure will be in control of the forecast through most of saturday, which means warmer temperatures are on the way. highs will rise to the low 60s on wednesday, mid 60s on thursday and upper 60s for friday and saturday. partly cloudy skies are expected each afternoon. the winds will pick up to the along with cooler air. highs will drop to the low 60s on sunday and along with the chance for scattered showers, afternoon. an action news update.... on some trouble.... singer chris brown found himself in here.... in las vegas. metro police say... those charges have been dropped....

steve benton, rooftop solar customer 10:05:04-10:05:14 "i want my $20,000 back, at least $20,000 because you effectively have what i'm getting out of this system and i think that's wrong." the next hearing is february 8th. some of the state's rooftop solar companies are fighting back.. and now want voters to have a say. the petition would seek a ballot referendum that could overturn part of the p-u-c's decision to hike solar rates. however.. the ceo of solar city says a referendum could take months.. and he'd like action much sooner. lyndon rive ceo solar city let's call a special session, and then come up with a short term solution so that the market doesn't get decimated, allow the public to then determine if they want solar in the future, but fix the problem right now solar energy supporters hope a short term solution could prevent hundreds of laid-off employees from leaving the state.. so those companies won't need if a long term solution is reached.

the scene of an accident when a semi drives over some train tracks and stops. but when the officer waves him on.. the crossing arm comes down and traps the truck with the train coming. that's when the train plows into the semi.. launching it into the officer. incredibly.. the officer is expected to be okay. an all out manhunt tonight for three inmates who broke out of a maximum security jail in california. investigators think they got out friday just after the inmate count. they cut through a metal grate in a holding cell to reach some plumbing tunnels.. then made their way to the roof
