>> reporter: latinos make up just 6% of the total population here, but lulac estimates that accounts for about 70,000 potential caucusgoers, and that's a high number given that last cycle just 90,000 voters participated in the republican caucuses. >> we are unknown commodity here in iowa. >> reporter: it's a nonpartisan effort. lulac says their only goal is to get out the vote and make sure they understand how the caucus process works. many of the first-time voters here, for inst anyone in their families to show them the ropes. >> it's not like something they're used to. she doesn't know that much english sometimes. sometimes that's a barrier. she doesn't want to the go to these events and feel weird or uncomfortable or left out. >> reporter: and while some campaigns are trying -- [ speaking foreign language ] >> reporter: lulac says those that haven't made much of an effort with iowa latinos may pay the price on caucus day and
