(describe scene) it's been quiet the blustery day for the entire las vegas valley. 4 sx (too quick for cg's) we actually started our day down in the green valley area-- those were some of the toughest winds of the day-- blowing consistently between 40 to 50 after that we headed to the northeast-- where things were a bit calmer-- but still seeing those trees blowing from left to right. but we did speak to one woman-- who said more winds no problem!

green valley parkway. not much is known at this point about the circumstances of the shooting except that witnesses heard several gunshots. investigators are looking at multiple leads to figure out who did this and where that person might be. police officials did say this was not a drive by shooting. the road there is la mesa drive. it's closed down now and will be for a good while longer. there are other entrances into the apartment complex that are open. live in henderson david schuman channel 13 action news we're learning new information tonight.... about what led to this man being shot.... by police.... after crashing a car.... near pecos and bonanza. police say.... gilberto gutierrez is a four time convicted felon.... and... has a long criminal history of stealing cars. metro says... he stole a honda civic in northeast las vegas.... and... pointed a gun.... at the car's owner. when gutierrez crashed that car... he got out on foot.... and... pointed his gun... at officer samuel solorio....

at gutierrez.... hitting him in the left side of his body. metro says... they've dealt with more than.... - 8- hundred stolen cars.... in the last year. 13:16:49 undersheriff kevin mcmahill, las vegas metro police department "those are large numbers that continue to drive much of our property crime statistics. it's absolutely very frustrating for our officers to continue to have to confront these types of individuals." gutierrez was released from the hospital that night.... with minor injuries. he now faces multiple felony charges.... including assault and robbery.... with a deadly weapon. you might remember last week.. we showed you video a social media prank that left a valley woman with hundreds of dollars in damage. tonight.. one of the alleged culprits has been caught. and now.. police say the teens may be responsible for a lot more than just "putting 'em in a coffin." plus... the three inmates.... who escaped from a maximum security jail... in california.... are back behind bars!!! and now... we're hearing for the first time... the 9-1-1 call that led to the capture... of one of the fugitives.

(male caller) he's not armed or anything, he just wants to turn himself in peacefully. police arrested the other two inmates about 24 hours later. two virginia tech students..... accused in the abduction and murder of a -13-year-old girl made their first appearances in court today. nicole lovell's body was found saturday..... just across the state line.... on route -89-.... in north carolina.... about -1- hundred miles away from her home.... in blacksburg, virginia. police believe... david eisenhauer knew lovell.... and used their relationship.... to lure her out of the house. natalie keepers is accused of disposing... the body. the motive is not clear... and... police have not said.... how lovell was killed. the world health organization has declared the zika virus.... an international emergency. the organization warns.... as many as... -4- million people.... could be infected this year. here in the u-s... -4- pregnant women have been diagnosed... with the virus... right now... there's no treatment... for the virus.

protesters in jacinto, texas say... a black teen was a victim of police brutality.... after this video was released.... of a fight between two teens.... at a convenience store.... friday. you can see both teens throwing punches..... before an officer runs up.... and.... pushes one of the teens.... sending him through a plate glass window. (lee hagan, alleged victim) "i backed away from the dude after the police told me to get up, and he just grabbed me and threw me and through the window for no reason. i didn't resist arrest." (butted to) (chief joe ayala, jacinto city police) "it didn't happen like that. my officer did not body-slam him through the window." the chief maintains......that his officer was just trying to get control of the teen.... and... didn't shove him through the glass. he says... he tripped over his feet and an action news update on the search for a teenager who damaged a henderson woman's truck while taking part in a prank called 'put 'em in a coffin.' police have arrested a 13-year old in connection with the incident. the prank is becoming popular on social media..
