we'll be rightcys!m how young is too young and push their kids? those are some of the topics that are tackled by esquire friday night tights which just premiered its third season. here to talk about it ises brian morgan and lori hurt, president of the all new texas storm, a team that is within the league. great to have both of you. how are you? >> good. thanks for having us. >> brian, it's the texas football youth association, one of the most competitive junior football leagues in the country. for those who haven't caught on to the show yet, how much of a draw is this association? >> well, i think the tv show helped a little bit. but even prior to the tv show, we were one of the most largest organizations here in the state of texas and as far as usa football had us rankd as one of the three largest in the country. the tv show has kind of helped
9:27 am
a household name. but we continue to see exponential growth in the league better things. >> it's so competitive, you're seeing there is almost like a kids. this is legit. >> it is. there is always competition for the best talent, you know. i think it's more from the parental side that the parents are shopping their kids around to those organizations that maybe could benefit from having their talented child participate in that program. so there is a fair share of recruiting and shopping around of kids thaton. but nothing too drastic. >> okay. lori, we caught you and your family in an interesting season. you're involved with the lobo's team. there is a skirmish. what happened? >> my sob was with the lobos for three years. as soon as the cameras came on,
9:28 am
in some of the parents. and some of the coaches. so we ended up leaving because of how they were treating justice and then how we were getting treated in the stands. it was constant, everyday thing at practice and during the gameses and it wasn't healthy for us and it wasn't healthy for our son. so we started a new organization to try to do something different, to make it about the kids. not about the parents, not about the coaches, but about the kids. and that's pretty much what we stand for at the texas storm. >> awesome. i love the name, too. i'm surprised there was no storm in the league. storm is a pretty solid name. >> it's a great name. >> very unique. >> storm comes rolling in, you take cover. i love it, lori. >> thank you. i love it, too. thank you. >> so i know the league is trying to tackle the same thing that the nfl is trying to tackle. how to keep the game true while keeping it as safe as possible. what have you been able to do to try to keep this safe for kids, but also keep it football?
9:29 am
different types of education for the coaches and the players as far as providing information on the heads up football program, as far as the see what you hit program. just trying to educate, make the game safer by teaching what the methods that are being taught right now at the higher levels. we're always going to follow suit with what's taking place in the nfl, high school and college because ultimately we want these kids to play at those levels, but it's got to start here at grassroots. they have to learn that better way of tackling or the safer way of tackling. we do whatever we can as far as to educate our coaches, the parents, as well as the kids. >> you actually see in the season one of the coaches actually being pulled off because he needed to learn possibly the new rules. i know there are some people that are saying that this is one of the most controversial shows on tv. we have ten seconds left. what do you think of that? >> i think it's controversial only from the standpoint of what's taking place today with cte and the concussions and
9:30 am
but also from the parenting aspect. i think what they'll see when is it is about parenting. it is about the kids, but ultimately it's about the safety of the kids and them enjoying this game. >> great having you and congratulations on the show. >> thank you very much. >> take an inside look at how football is made in the esquire network documentary series friday night tykes. in season 3. you can catch the latest episode tonight at 9. for more detail, visit the web site on your screen. the big game is days away and that means a lot of parties and big appetites. so what's your must have dish going to be this sunday? you talked back to us and producer zach is back with what some of you had to say. good morning, zach. >> good morning. yeah, for a lot of people, the food is actually the biggest part of the game. you and i don't really care too much about the football aspect of it. but we care about the food. jacob, one viewer, says it is all about the wings and as hot as they can be.
9:31 am
top of the show. >> i do. and i never think about chili. it's not on my radar at all (that's so funny it's a staple. >> i don't eat it. >> kate, another viewer says pigs in a blanket. they're easy to make and they're a hit with the guests. see, i don't ever think about parties. if i did, maybe it would be that because it's a lot easier to make. i know our potluck we're having friday that you talked about, i'm bringing vegetable tray. >> see, that's easy. you can get that and people will love that. i don't know what i'm going to bring. i would like to cook something sometime, but i've never done that yet either. >> i say i'm going to cook something every time and it never happens. chad, another viewer, says his wife's cran bettery meat balls. you haven't lived until you tried them. chad, help us live. i haven't had them. they sound very good. >> that sounds a little bizarre. meat balls. i never thought to do it. i think it would be delicious if
9:32 am
>> i think so, too. it could be a big game staple. >> what else do you like to eat on game day? >> pizza. and the chips and the dip and everything like that. >> what do you like on your pizza? >> i'm very simple. i like just pepperoni, maybe some mushrooms, which i know they don't have any flavor, but it makes a difference. olives. >> if i want to be really bad, i pizza. of pork. i know it's not the healthiest thing, but i want to go all out on this sunday. >> i'll go all out with you. thank you. >> no problem. >> still to come, help a local fulfill his need for speed. how you can help him become a champion.
