flint water crisis... the mayor of flint, michigan announced a 55-million-dollar proposal today to remove lead piping from the city's water system. it's a bid to fix the city's toxic water crisis as quickly as possible. right now... the u-s and south korea are looking into the possible deployment of a missile defense system... this follows north korea's alleged missile test last weekend. for some time, the u-s has been nudging its close ally south korea. china is concerned the missile defense system could be used against it, and the u-s sanctions could hit chinese companies that trade with north korea. right now...the search continues for people trapped after a deadly earthquake in taiwan. this midday family members are begging workers to help. a high rise apartment collapsed in the earthquake that struck over the weekend. that deadly quake has killed 41 people. there are over 1-hundred people believed to still be trapped. in hong kong, a night of violence between police and protesters disrupted chinese new year celebrations monday.

pleaded not guilty. two people had to be rescued after a crash at 95 and charleston. chopper 13 bringing you breaking news fast and first... we watched the dramatic scene unfold this morning. two people inside a white pickup became trapped and had to be pulled out by rescue crews using the jaws of life. both people were put into an ambulance and taken to nearby hospitals. there's no word on their condition, but the crash caused a huge backup on both the 95 and charleston. and an action news update... brought to us from one of our viewers viewer tony avelar sent us this video early this morning-- just around 4. clark county fire confirms they responded to a truck fire near emerald bay apartments on krissy louise way... by nellis and vegas valley. investigators say the fire is suspicious-- no one was hurt. an update on a scare at ... a valley wal-mart... the entire store was evacuated. it happened near nellis and boulder highway... shoppers tell us they were

answers. we found out someone wrote a bomb threat on the wall in the women's restroom. the whole store was emptied... police k-9's were called out. police didn't find anything suspicious... some tense moments during the vigil for a young girl killed by a hit and run driver over the weekend. police were called to the memorial of evelyn green when emotions escalated to arguments. 2-year-old green was hit and killed on super bowl sunday while crossing the street. the family says the driver remained on scene apologizing for several minutes before driving away 01.43.38.00 "i could hear him i could see him, i know what do you look like but i'm not worried about him right then. i'm holding my daughter in my arms." police describe the vehicle as a white full size panel van with no windows. only on action news.... we're hearing from someone who says she saw the deadly hit and run that killed evelyn green. the witness says the driver pulled over and got out of the van after hitting the toddler.

university of central oklahoma had a terrifying weekend. a stranger crept in through an unlocked window. one of the students woke up with the intruder sitting on the edge of her bed. it was around two sunday morning. edmond police got an emergency call that a stranger was caught creeping around inside the alpha delta pi sorority. when cops arrived ... they found 41 year old randall scott ashton -- on the balcony. he was arrested. that's when authorities made another unusual discovery. he'd apparently been sifting though the girl's laundry.
