rosemont community. i heard over the scanner - they actually kicked down the door - and then started firing. a man and his 14 year daughter were both shot before the suspects took off. on their way out of here - they tossed a gun in a nearby park. just looking at the website crime mapping dot com, i couldn't find a single other crime reported in this area in 2016... ....but with these suspects on the loose, neighbors are terrified this could happen again. back to you. this just in... the hiker who died at red rock canyon this weekend has been identified. the clark county coroner says he was 47-yr-old ravi day-al from las vegas. the cause of death was not disclosed... but it's thought to be related to a medical episode not a fall. we have another breaking news

a metro officer is recovering after he was kicked in the head by an out-of- control suspect. and the story is quite bizarre. 13 action news reporter parker collins spoke with someone who saw the whole thing play out by summerlin parkway and buffalo. parker? that's right. they're telling me it was a scary scene. police tell us they came out here for a call... and found a naked teen jumping on a car! they tried to calm him down and take him in... but it wasn't working. eventually... the kid kicked an officer in the head. that officer had to go to umc trauma... could have a concussion. so did the suspect.. police think he was on something. earnest rogers, witness 16:19:16-16:19:29 "woke up, thought it was a lady screaming, thought someone was doing something to a lady. come outside-- it's a 17-year-old kid butt naked... police got him on the ground." i actually just got viewer video of this incident. you'll see it on later editions

the man killed yesterday afternoon as mike guinn. the shooting happened outside his home near desert inn and mc-leod. police say the victim was shot once after an argument with two people in a silver pickup truck. we're told a woman in the silver pickup used to live at the home. guinn's friend says she came back to get her belongings when the man she brought opened fire! only on 13 action news... we spoke with a witness to the murder. "me and my wife ran over there, tried to hold towels on his wound but he was shot right, right in the chest." "his wife started on the street, saying call 911, that she was going to go and get these guys, like like she knew who they were." homicide detectives believe they know the identity of the people in the pickup truck. this just in... hundreds of american soldiers are headed to afghanistan. the u-s army announced that it would deploy soldiers to the southern afghan province of helmand. the new troops will assist afghan forces who try to push back taliban insurgents.

something else... a couple is caught having a romp hundreds of feet above the strip. now.they're facing felony charges for committing sex acts in public. police say security at the high roller spotted the pair having "relations" in one of the pods. chloe scordianos and philip panzica told officers they were just having fun and didn't think anyone would notice. but passengers in a neighboring pod not only noticed, but started recording the activity through the glass windowed pods. this is a look at the view from one pod to another last night. you can see between the pods. police say the couple was hooking up in broad daylight friday afternoon...so you could see even better. folks at the high roller say this is a growing problem and they want to make sure it doesn't ruin their reputation. vm you're not seeing double...

hundreds of southwest airlines pilots are rallying today. they're demanding a contract...it's been almost four years since they've had one! the pilots will be outside the orleans hotel and casino this afternoon. that's right before a southwest employee rally. pilots say four years is far too long not providing them with a contract. they're calling on management to step up and move forward. stay tuned for today's health report... top athletes are sounding off about the spreading zika virus. will they go to brazil for the olympics? plus... nursing mothers get a break at one of the nation's busiest airports.

reported in 20-14. a valley man takes matters into his own hands and becomes his own detective after his wallet and car were stolen at the gym! albert rodriguez has been looking through security footage from saturday night. that's when he found the lock missing on his gym locker at planet fitness near sunset and noticed a man - not wearing gym clothes - cut him off at the front desk. that man goes into the locker room then comes out 15 minutes later without working out. rodriguez believes this man took his 13 credit cards and his car! "i was looking and it was just funny because what they purchased was a knife, bolt cutters, a mini file set, a file, and a file handle. i was like wow, that's ironic, he just bought all kinds of stuff to steal something else!" henderson police have found the stolen credit cards and i-d. the thief is still on the loose

the four remaining protesters at that wildlife refuge in oregon say they have no plans of leaving. the occupiers have been posting videos on their youtube page. they are listing new demands for police. they want all charges against them dropped, and ammon bundy and his supporters released from jail. they complain the electricity to the compound has been shut off, and the fbi confiscated their phones. (david fry, oregon wildlife refuge occupier) "they took away all of our smartphones and gave us this flip phone that doesn't even have a speaker." the group says they are using generators now for power. now to an action news update on that train crash in germany... emergency workers are at the site again today... they're trying to figure out why multiple safety measures failed. they're saying the crash was caused by human error. ten people were killed several others injured. two commuter trains crashed head- on in an isolated area. one person was still missing in the wreckage. a skydiving accident turns deadly near phoenix.

while jumping in eloy... it's the third such death in that spot since december 31st. and the man was a veteran sky-diver- so they're not sure what went wrong. but good news from the quake rubble in taiwan... a dog was pulled from the wreckage... at least 44 people died in the 6.4 magnitude quae this past weekend. and 100 people are still though tn the debris. in today's contact 13 consumer alert... the labor department says there were five-point-six million unfilled jobs in december. that's just shy of the all-time record -- set in july of last year. the downside is many u-s workers don't have the skills to fill those jobs. and the takata airbag recall is expanding-- again. daimler and mercedes-benz have issued recalls. the total number of affected vehicles is now up to 840-thousand in the u-s. honda, ford, nissan and toyota have all been forced to issue recalls because of the defective airbags, which can explode violently without warning.

woman out of harms way after a home caught fire this happened just hours ago... on washington near valley view boulevard. a man driving by saw the house fire.... got out and saw an elderly woman in the bakcyard...trying to escape the flames. he was able to lift her over the fence with the help of another man. she was then taken to umc and treated for smoke inhalation. we're told the woman had a small candle fire the night before and burned some bed linen. investigators say it may have re-ignited. a family turns to 13 action news... because they say their home is sinking in the ground, costing them thousands of dollars, and no one is helping them! you can see cracks in the walls and window frames all around the home. the owner traced it back to an
