i'm yasmeen hassan. all eyes are on nevada right now. the state is getting ready for the caucuses next weekend... ...and democratic candidate bernie sanders rallied supporters at bonanza high school today. 13 action news reporter david schuman is live with what the senator had to say on several hot button issues. david. we got here two and a half hours before the event started and the line to get in was already around the corner and down the street. sanders is the self-proclaimed anti establishment candidate and he was embraced inside the bonanza high school gym natvo "bernie! bernie! bernie!" sanders touched on a variety of issues in his speech -- universal healthcare, reforming the criminal justice system, wall street. he joked with the crowd, calling them smart when they booed things like the income gap and sanders' political opponents. saying he wanted to raise minimum wage to 15 dollars an

around 12 thirty this morning. officers say the victim is expected to survive. a suspect has already been arrested - and charged with battery with a deadly weapon. no word on what led to the shooting. an update tonight on a deadly shooting here in the valley. the coroner has identified the victim in friday night's shooting as 21-year-old leon max velasquez metro officers responded to reports of a shooting around 11 thirty near lake mead and rancho. when officers got there, they found velasquez shot to death inside of a car. they say the suspect was inside the car before the shooting... ....and then took off.. right now, the search is on for two suspects in a home invasion on west atlantic street in henderson . according to police, one man was shot yesterday. he was taken to sunrise hospital and is in critical condition. 3 kids were also home at the time. thankfully they were not hurt. authorities say it does not look like this was a random home invasion. they are trying to find a man and a woman right now.

accused hit and run driver who killed a 2 year old girl. daniel garcia-martinez was arrested saturday in the death of evelyn green. the tragic crash happened last week. garcia-martinez is charged with a felony for not stopping at the scene of a fatal accident. his bail has been set at one million dollars. the little girl was playing in the street at the time. many of the greens are in california right now, including her parents. they are preparing for their toddlers funeral which is set to be in los angeles on saturday. a major battle is brewing in washington... this weekend, supreme court justice antonin scalia passed away....and lawmakers are already arguing over who should name his successor. abc's elizabeth hur has the latest. the battle for the bench has already started? area. a 13 action news update tonight. rescuers in taiwan are officially ending search and rescue operations after last weeks deadly 6.4 magnitude earthquake. 116 people were killed. nearly 300 people were rescued. around 100 people are still in hospital. most of the fatalities and injuries happened when a high-rise collapsed in tainan. three people, all former executives of the company that built the collapsed apartment building,have been arrested. they are now facing charges of professional negligence resulting in death. last night, hundreds attended a vigil for two 15-year-old girls who died in a murder-suicide shooting on friday at a phoenix-area high school. social workers have been at the school to help students get through this difficult time. police haven't released the names of the victims, but a teacher at the school has come forward, saying her sister is one of them. it's believed the two victims

tonight we're hearing from a man who many are calling a hero. a virginia man pulls a driver from a burning car---saving his life. 51-year-old meredith conyers senior risked his life to save the trapped man, he says he's not a hero. conyers says he was on his way to work around 4 a-m on the freeway and noticed smoking coming from a car.. he says his first instinct was to get out and see was in the car... ....and that's when he found a man screaming for help. meredith conyers, sr.0pulled man from burning car " i feet from the car. by that time the car was engulfed in flames. we sat there and he was just was in pain." the driver's family is asking for privacy. a family spokesperson did say the young man has a long recovery ahead but will be okay. brazil's president says the

compromise the upcoming olympics in rio. he says the country will be able to fight the mosquitos carrying the virus. yesterday was a national mobilization day in brazil to fight zika. brazil's military and hundreds of thousands of health workers have been mobilized. zika is mostly harmless for adults....but it has been linked to a serious birth defect among newborns. the olympics in rio de janeiro kick off in august. pope francis is on the third day of his trip to mexico. today, he delivered a mass in one of the poorest and most dangerous parts of the country. it took place at the center for advanced studes in ecatepec. he arrived in mexico friday for a five-day visit. the pope urged the nation to fight against corruption and drug violence. he said mexico's leaders have a duty to provide security and "true justice" to citizens hit by drug violence. the northeast and midwest are getting hit with bitter cold temperatures and strong winds
