people partying at a house near sahara and tenaya, when a 19-year-old was robbed.by several other men at gunpoint. police say he has some cuts and bruises--nothing serious. but the robbers did get away with his belongings. people-- an action news update from overnight... two people arrested, because police believe they may have been trying to break into someone's home. metro says around midnight someone called 9-1-1 saying they saw two people they didn't recognize in someone's backyard near durango and elkhorn. once officers got to the scene the suspects took off. metro set up a perimeter, and searched the whole neighborhood for them. they did manage to track them down, and both people taken into custody. and just hours before that... a car crashes right through a behind. a viewer who drove by says they saw a man getting arrested. we're still working to confirm that with metro. passengers trying to get from london to new york are getting ready for another day of travel

a hearse carrying the justice departed a funeral home for el paso international airport sunday--where it was put on a private plane. the 79-year-old justice died in his sleep while on a hunting trip at a texas resort. a government source said scalia went to bed friday night and was found unresponsive saturday morning.... he was 79 years old. now the battle is on as to who should replace him c-n-n's andrew spencer reports. in the wake of supreme court justice antonin scalia's sudden death over the weekend -- the top ranking democrat on the senate judiciary committee blasted any notion of delaying a vote on the next nominee until after the presidential election. it would be a sheer dereliction of duty for the senate not to have a hearing, not to have a vote. republican senate majority leader mitch mcconnell wants a nomination to be put on hold -- saying quote "the american people should have a voice in the selection." at the heart of the dispute - some republicans claim there's an informal history of not voting on judicial nominees in the months

police in philadelphia say the car was speeding before it slammed into a tractor trailer filled with toxic chemicals, bursting into flames. the family of one of the victims says she was using a special filter on snapchat which records people's speed. they believe it encourages people to drive too fast. sot jimmy abgarian, victim's uncle i'm not blaming snapchat, but hope someone gets something from this and puts it down while they are in the car (butted with) sot ethe hill, victim's mother "if that happened, it helped to kill my daughter," that was the mother of one of the victims-- a spokesperson for snapchat says they "take distracted driving seriously, including a "do not snap and drive" warning message when this geofilter is first accessed."

in your head as you hear this. tens of thousands of sharks have been spotted a stone's throw away from the florida coast. see all those gray specs down below? those are sharks off our coast. the professor is still trying to figure out why the sharks are attracted to that particular area. police are investigating who planted an explosive device near the airport in albuquerque, new mexico. investigators say the device was attached to an avis budget rental car. a mechanic saw it when he put the vehicle on a lift. a police bomb squad later disabled the device. officials are tracking down the person who rented the car. the search continues this midday for a man in connection with a fatal shooting. the shooting happened friday night around 11:45 on cindysue street near lake mead boulevard. police responded to a report of shots fired and found somebody dead inside a vehicle. the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. he was identified as 21-year-old leon max velasquez of north las vegas.

inside the vehicle with the victim before firing the shots. metro also needs your help tracking down another murder suspect named "fuyan liao." he may be driving a white 20- 09 infiniti s-u-v with a nevada license plate 712 a-t-z. they believe he fatally shot 40 year old zhihao li on february 4th near buffalo and twain. if you have any information about either of those murders, please call police or crime stoppers. the search for survivors in the deadly taiwan earthquake has been called off. this comes more than a week after the quake. 116 people were killed the five- point- nine earthquake. 289 people were rescued, many of whom are still in the hospital. most of the deaths and injuries came from the collapse of a high rise tower. the former north las vegas teacher, accused of kissing two students, is expected in court this week. william crawford is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow

crawford is accused of kissing two 12-year-old girls in 2012 at "sommerset academy." the students contend crawford never touched them inappropriately, but, they say he often brought students into a closet and "tickled" them as punishment for misbehaving. jodi arias will not be seeing any visitors for the next six months. the arizona department of corrections says arias has temporarily lost her visitation privileges. the 35-year-old is serving a life sentence for murdering her boyfriend. according to officials-- arias called a correctional officer a vulgar insult... after she was denied a haircut. arias will have to demonstrate at least 180 days of good behavior in order to see visitors again. still ahead on action news at midday... good news for two top dogs at the north las vegas police department. plus... a teen buys flowers for all the girls at his high school... did it start a cat fight? or a kind gesture?

two of their k-9 officers are getting brand new bulletproof vests. the department submitted pictures of the dogs, bobby and boris into a contest, but the donors decided they couldn't pick just one. so they're giving kevlar vests to all the dogs entered! those vests cost 25-hundred dollars each. meanwhile, metro's police dog nicky, who was stabbed during a 12 hour standoff on friday... is now recovering at home. metro says they released the dog on the suspect, after he stopped responding to swat negotiators. we're told the dog was stabbed in the head with a machete. nicky was rushed to an animal hospital for surgery. metro thanked the community for
