profile murder case we've been following for five years. javier righetti has now pleaded guilty to capital murder in the brutal rape.. torture and murder of alyssa otremba. the 15-year old was killed in september of 2011 after she was kidnapped on her way home from school. righetti's attorney says he decided to spare everyone from a drawn-out trial. a story you saw first on 13 action news. new surveillance video from the street where several bags.. containing dead animals.. were dumped. we first started telling you about the gruesome discovery morning as it was unfolding. tonight.. 13 action news reporter michael burton explains how we got this surveillance video first. michael.

seems like no matter what you do these - there's always someone or something watching. in this instance it was a surveillance camera on a nearby business that happened to aimed directly at this event. the surveillance video shows a nearly empty road - tuesday morning - with nothing but a single piece of white debris - before a car passes and a heap of trash appears. the following morning - metro officers side of the road. later that afternoon - our 13 action news crew arrived after a veiwer called and told us about the bags then an hour later, metro officers return to put up yellow tape. the crime coincidently happened right after metro's new aimal cruelty unit was established. clark county prosecutor amy ferreira is a part of it - and is thankful this investigation will get the time and effort it deserves. "i realized that there was a really big void in the abilities that we had to prosecute those cases.

one of his followers metioned seeing the car at the cracked egg on cheyenne and buffalo. on monday - a man that jeffrey has never met - posted surveillance video of someone stealing a package from his porch. he posted it on the 13 action news' facebook page. that's when one of jeffrey's close friends happened to see the video on on our page - and recognozed that the package theif was driving jeffrey's car! so - we broadcasted the surveillance video on 13 action news live at 11. the next day - a man who was watching that newscast saw that car pull into a gas station on the corner of alexander andteneya. before he called police - he made sure that the suspect at the gas station had arm tattoes similar to the man in the video. police arrived just in time to apprehend the suspect.
