it was a dramatic day at voters turned out in droves to make their choice for the democratic nominations. steve: let's put up the numbers for you right now. this is where 82% of the caucus precipitations reportings. hillary clinton holding on to the 4 point lead. tricia: 13 action news anchor mahsa saeidi is live from the henderson pavillion supporters and michael burton is live at coerces palace. reporter: it's been a big day for hillary clinton. i was here earlier at the actual caucus site a floor down from

thanking supporters for supporting her. everyone is taking pictures. they are just so happy for this victory. you know, hillary talked about a lot of things in her address. she thanked hotel and casino workers for supporting her for years and wall street and talked about the middle class needing a raise and this country needing to fighting systemic racism head on. she affect college debt. it was a great day here and the energy was so alive. i think we have mahsa saeidi live where bernie sanders just... . reporter: yeah, that's right. michael, bernie sanders is right

a short time ago he did give his speech out here, his concession speech. it sounded in many ways like it was a victory. we have video of that to show you right now with a warm reception from this crowd. he talked about momentum and progress he made, 25 points down just a few weeks ago. going into this, they were in a dead heat. this was ninety-first real test for sanders in a state that was urban and diverse. he did well. that was the general consensus of everyone we spoke with. he's looking ahead to the south carolina primary, which will happen on the 27th. he seemed much more positive about super tuesday talking about how he would win many of those states with the continued support from the public and talking about how ultimately predicting that clinton would have one of the greatest political upsets in history.

here today, it was an intimate and lively crowd. i would say they didn't just support him, they truly do appear to love him. they talked about how honest he was, how genuine he was, how he was very humble. there were awful young folks in the crowd, which we expected, but we did see older women in the crowd withing according to polling you would expect they would be supporting clinton. no, they were definitely here for sanders. we want to let you know about one small issue, a young voter here told me while she went to go vote for bernie sanders at etna elementary school, she claimed there was somebody there a clinton supporter that turned away dozens of sanders supporters. that's basically what is happening today. we will continue to watch what's being said about all of this online.

for many voters today it was their first time being part of the caucuses and that high turnout meant there were delays that soured some people on the process. steve: 13 action news reporter david schuman is here to break down how they are feeling about the entire caucus experience? reporter: we heard mixed reviews. we had cameras at this middle school which turned out to be a problem location. >> i never had to wait out three hours to vote once since i have been in nevada. >> it's just a mess. reporter: that first man said nevada should get rid of caucuses altogether and switch to a primary system. it's because of these lines, look at them, waiting out in the sun. voters said they were hot and hungry. we got reports in of some computer troubles in northern, nevada.

disrupt the process too much. interesting tanote 2/3rd of voters today were first-time caucus goers, but overall turnout was down from the 2008 caucuses. tricia: here are pictures from viewers. so many people turned out here the fire marshal stepped in and turned people away. jesse sent in this picture of long lines. and there was this picture at shalleral high school. steve: there were a few unpleasant surprises at some of the caucus locations today. 13 action newsrker collins showed why siding with a candidate in some cases turned out to be difficult. reporter: when you were a senator or first time voter the lines slowed you down. are you surprised by these lines? >> yes i am.

hillary, too and it wasn't a fraction of this. reporter: everywhere you looked people standing and waiting to stand with bernie or hillary. they are frustrated by how long it was taking to do their civic duty. >> it's ridiculous. reporter: even after noon hit, the line kept it for a while as people waited to get in. some people are happy about this kind of turnout. >> not because ofb i have to stand in line. reporter: computer issues and greater turnout bloated lines. some people tried keep a positive attitude, but the general confusion was trying. >> it was nice they pulled the people in. a lot of people didn't know what caucus means. reporter: the rules of the game, registering voters, had to happen before the caucus could even start. as the first in the west, it's hard to tell if nevada is the norm or a fluc. in henderson, parker collins, 13

tricia: caucus goers here in the valley weren't the only ones run phagproblems as they tried to cast their votes. caucus sites in reno reported problems with long lines and computer crashes and not enough forms. one caucus site ran out of english language registers forms and had to hand out ones unspanish. steve: to join us to talk about the today's caucuses is ed. reporter: we are a non patterson organization, but personally i support hillary clinton. steve: since it was only a four-point win today as far as... progress is concerned. >> we are a non patterson. for us it was really important to see people show up to the polls. it will be equally as important for people to show up to the polls on tuesday with the

february 23rd. steve: people are involved. >> people are involved and showed up in big numbers and that's really important. steve: how are you feeling about some of the caucus process in general? i mean, in a way it's kind of lively. it gets your political juices flowing, but on the other hand, for a lot of these people, 2/3rd of the people out there today, first time in a caucus they could walk outgoing what the heck is that? >> it's such a cool process. i have to be honest watching people go into the democratic caucus, it's such a neat process to see people go in and meet their neighbors in their neighborhood and be able to caucus with each other and talk anatomical and get to know each other. i think that's important part of this process. steve: let's talk about the demographics, the thing that makes, nevada so different and the reason political eyes were watching, nevada today.

hampshire and iowa caucuses. demographically nevada breaks down different. >> it looks like the rest of the country. we have people of color here. we have women here and millennials here and so our state really does reflect what the country looks like these days. and so yes, iowa and new hampshire were exciting to watch on both sides of the aisle, but nevada is truly a reflection of what the country is feeling right now. steve: very quickly and we will have you back later in the newscast, just going forward, the ruts today, what kind of message do you think it will send to the punditry? >> the democrats are moving to south carolina. south carolina is happening right now for the republicans. you have to look at today's russell. hillary clinton won among african americans 76 to 22. that's huge. they were 12% of the electorate today.

steve: an upset on a story we first reported as breaking news an 13 action news this morning. police say a man who was shot and killed in the valley's northeast side may have been the

that happened at about 1:00 a.m. at lake mead and marion. he was rushed to umc where he later died. according to police he was walking down the street when he was confronted by someone. tricia: shots were fired at the gold coast casino near alley view. in total four rounds were fired. by the time police got there the suspects ran away. steve: update on yesterday's deadly shooting on the las vegas strip, the coroner identified two women killed at 27-year-old melissa and 27-year-old jennifer. metro says the shootings happened after a brawl near the miracle mile shops at planet hollywood. one woman died at the scene, another woman tried to drive herself and a man away from the

with annette steve: back once again to talk nevada political is annette magnus. when you left us last we were starting to break down the demographics a little bit. hellery ran well with african americans, hispanics and women, had problems with younger voters today. >> yeah. i am glad that young people are voting. for a group like battle born progress, our whole mission is to get more people to vote regardless of party. seeing millennials turn out and vote, excites me. steve: it has to make you happy. >> yeah. steve: the caucus progress itself, is just interesting because iowa has a caucus.

steve: a handful of states have caucuses. any interest from battle born progress about seeing the primary maker return? because it seems to be a little more less... a little less chaotic. >> this is organization chaos is what i like to call it. it was great today and tuesday. i am not one to get... [indiscernible]. i am glad people are turning out today in nevada and making their voices heard. steve: where would you put democrats on the scale. >> i heard it was lower than 2008. it's a different type of election. i think when i showed up at my caucus site today and just seeing all those people out there, it's huge. i think when we show up to the republican caucus sites onill see the same thing, a huge turnout.

event. >> yeah, it will be a different demographic of people, but a great turnout as well. steve: are you seeing the level of enthusiasm with the republicans coming here now because we have more candidates in that field, so a lot more ways to turn in the caucus process. >> you had, south carolina today, so that will be exciting, just like we are influencing south carolina for the tells me, they will be influencing us for the republicans. we are seeing a lot of people excitement going into the republican caucus. a lot of people on our list are republicans. you will see the candidates come here starting tomorrow. you are starting to see events starting to pop up. it's time for people to go and ask them questions they were asking the democrats. steve: that you can so much for joining us. we will have you back as the election season continues. >> you will have me back tonight.
