a suspected burglar.... has been shot and killed. bryan... detective and going in and out of the house we never known better view of behind us here to tan house behind me. right now the police are trying to determine if the man that was shot and killed was living inside of this home. he was reportedly shot by one of the property managers that have come by the house after a locksmith called and said they house. husband-and-wife team had just made it to the backyard and by the suspect. the husband was reportedly punched in the face several times in a wrestling match followed before he was able to grab his gun and fire one shot. the suspect was taken to sunrise with a gunshot wound or he was pronounced dead. the police are still looking for witnesses in the area as well. at this point they have said

concealed carry permit. reporting live bryan callahan 13 action news. 13-action news following another breaking story in downtown las vegas.. where a man has been threatening for hours to jump from a parking structure at the 'd.' 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston has been watching this unfold all day and joins us live with more on efforts to talk him down. marissa. this has now been going on for over seven hours-- police say crisis negotiators have been up there talking with him. we do know family showed up about three this afternoon-- police did let them underneath the crime scene tape-- but its not clear if they were involved in the negotiations. police have been working for several hours to try to convince this man to come down to safety. but during those hours of

is suing the city of las vegas. lyft says... the city is trying to impose.... an illegal tax on them! 13 action news reporter..... gina lazara has more.... on what both sides are saying. gina: lyft says the city of las vegas is trying to levy an outrageously high tax on ride-share companies. but they say -- the city does not have the legal authority to do that! vo: lyft says -- nevada law clearly states -- it's illegal to single out ridesharing groups with extra fees. the tax is supposed to go into effect next month -- and it would cost ride- share companies 50-bucks -- per driver --- every six months. lyft says they've tried to ask the city to reconsider the illegal tax -- but they refuse - so they chose to sue. gina: the city tells 13 action news -- they don't comment on pending litigation so they had nothing to say about their choice to go through with the tax. the topic will be discussed at a city council meeting in a few weeks. reporting in the newsroom gina lazara 13 action news. the man who was shot by a metro officer.... after police say.... he stole a car... is pleading not guilty.... to all the charges against him.

date.... of june -21-st..... for gilberto gutierrez. he was arrested.... on january -26-th.... for auto theft.... assault and weapon charges... and.... possession of burglary tools. metro says.... one of their officers shot guitierrez.... after he pointed a gun at him. gutierrez is being held.... on 5- hundred thousand dollars bail. the red cross is helping two people after a fire destroyed their home. chopper 13.. fast and first over the blaze at decatur and bonanza. no one was inside the home when the fire broke out. the cause is still under investigation. a memorial is growing at durango and spring mountain.. for the young father shot and base. his family says his name was tyler white. only on 13-action news.. we're hearing from his loved haven't talked to tyler. you don't have to talk with tyler in two years and the minute you do its like nothing ever happened. police say the man was killed in a parking lot tuesday after a fight near las vegas

of colorado anschutz medical campus 29:06 parents want to protect their children and they think that if they buy the most expensive helmet or the helmet with the highest rating their child must be safer, and we found that's not true. dawn comstock is the senior author of a new study from the colorado school of public health... that says lab testing does not directly correlate with on-field concussions. graphic 1 high school athletic 2008-9 and the 2012-13 seasons. graphic 2 on average...there were eight concussions for every 10-thousand times a player stepped on the field. graphic 3 head injuries were more serious ...when the players' helmets didn't have this seal... meaning it's been approved by a national committee. sot 29:31 it's kind of the sports version of the good housekeeping seal -- any helmet that's certified by nocsea should keep their child safe anne mcnamara @annemcnamaratv 35:21 and there's one more thing parents should look for...whether a helmet has been reconditioned in the last year. our expert says the date of that reconditioning will be right inside the helmet. sot 30:00 any broken pieces are fixed, any padding that needs

basically the football helmet is made near new again it's a for the now...i'm anne mcnamara. happening right now.. surf's up. this incredible video is out of ventura, california.. where a high surf advisory is in effect until 10pm. while the waves take their toll on coastal roads and property.. the surfers are in heaven. high pressure continues to dominate the weather for the desert southwest which means that temperatures will be very warm and even hot to some through the weekend and into next week. the best we'll see cloud cover wise in the las vegas

clouds which will decorate the blue skies through saturday and sunday with tons of sunshine into next week. high temperatures will be about 2 short of 80 at its coolest on friday and could exceed 80 on saturday and sunday. temperatures will take a bit of a dip getting into next week but it won't be cold by any stretch of tihon. current models push an upper level low through the northern edge of the state with the possibility of some slightly stronger winds on monday. that system will cool temperatures by about 2-5 for tuesday but that'll just keep temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. following that system another ridge of high pressure will push in from the west for wednesday, kicking temperatures back up into the upper 70s and even the low 80s possible by the end of next week. no rain is expected through the forecast period.
