the shooting happened near las vegas boulevard and st. rose. metro says when their officers arrived on scene, they say a man with a gun just pointing it at traffic! we learned overnight that gun was not real, but that's something both responding officers and people living in this area didn't know. metro says officers repeatedly asked the man in both english and spanish to put the gun down, but nothing worked. no officers were hurt. as for the suspect, he's in stable condition at u-m-c. the north las vegas man-- accused of kidnapping a 14- year-old girl-- has agreed to plead guilty to sex assault charges. jimmy carter kim waived his preliminary hearing today-- accepting a last-minute plea. if he officially pleads guilty-- that would mean all of his victims could avoid taking the stand. kim would face a minimum of 35 years in prison-- it's something the family of one of the victims is thankful for-- saying justice would be served-- for what their daughter had to go through. it was stressful, we went all over town looking for her, 12, 14, 16 hours a day just driving around trying to pick up leads.

language and symbols.. including the words "whites only" and a swastika. this all follows a 13 action news report. neighbors spotted the offensive language a few days ago. they say it's not the first time.. and they also believe they know who's repsonsible. developing today... an ohio teen is facing 6 felonies, after shooting up his school's cafeteria. the 14-year-old made his first court appearance this morning. he pleaded not guilty. the school is closed today. earlier today, the school district's superintendent spoke, trying to reassure everyone's fears another shooting could happen. curtis philpot, superintendent, madison local schools: "at this point, our plan is to return to school tomorrow. we believe in getting kids back into school as quickly as possible with supports as best for them." he also said there will be extra support tomorrow to help students get through the day. we also got to listen to the 9-1-1 call from yesterday's shooting. :10-:16 "there's a shooting. he brought a gun and he started shooting people.

what? how many people did he shoot? i'm not sure.. he just pulled out a gun and started shooting." two students were hit by the gunfire, the other two were wounded by shrapnel. sot 13 55 09 zayd ahmed/student "the first shot went, and then it kinda paused for five seconds and then it went bang, bang, bang." 24-hours later, and police still don't kow why the student brought the gun and opened fire. the teen pleaded not guilty in court this morning. a virginia community comes together to remember a police officer.. killed in the line of duty on her first day on the job. 28 year old ashley guindon was shot saturday as she and two other officers were responding to a domestic dispute. investigators say army sergant ronald hamilton killed guindon and his wife. he's now behind bars on murder charges. also today.. the family of late supreme court justice antonin scalia held a memorial in his honor at a hotel in washington d-c.
