scene when a man was killed in a hit and run in the same area yesterday morning. metro tells us about an hour after the crash the driver came back and turned himself in. police say us he will be facing charges. leaving the scene of a fatal accident is a felony under state law. thankfully no injuries to report at a transformer fire that happened this morning... and chopper 13 fast and first over the scene of a transformer fire that was smoking since 2 this morning. this is a nevada energy transformer... treatment facility near herritage park. firefighters appeared to let the fire burn itself out. it's not clear how the fire started. 24 passengers recieved medical attention after severe turbulance on a flight. . here are some pictures taken inside the plane. the jetblue flight was en route from boston to sacramento --- when it apparently hit bad weather. the pilot had to divert the plane to south dakota thursday night after encountering a line

[butted with] jason layne passenger phoner: "within seconds we dropped probably a hundred feet. people flew out of their seats that weren't strapped in." passengers were transferred onto another plane --which made it safely to sacramento -- eight hours after they were supposed to arrive. developing news out of chicago... a 6 year old is fighting to stay alive after being shot in it happened in a chicago neighborhood. the little girl was playing with water balloons with some friends when - police say - someone walked up and opened fire. she was hit in the back of the head - and rushed to a hospital. right now - investigators don't think she was the intended target. the girls uncle was also shot in the chest....but did not survive. so far - no one is in custody. another child is hurt ... after falling off a roller coaster in pennsylvania.

hawaii... 168 people are sick. 46 of them have been hospitalized so far. the latest cases include food service workers at a papa john's restaurant and a bakery. health officials suspect it's probably from a frozen or dried food. took the stand for the first time today.. sandusky trying to get his 2012 conviction overturned. the 72-year-old arrived at the philadelphia courthouse in an orange prison uniform-- handcuffed and shackled this morning. when he was asked if he commited the crimes he was convicted of - sandusky replied "absolutely not". he claims his defense lawyers messed up the trial in 20-12. sandusky was found guilty of was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison. the three-day appeals hearing will continue on august 22nd. three college students lost while exploring a cave in arkansas... they were trapped underground for nearly 30 hours ... abc's gio benitez has the story of the incedible rescue.... a race against the clock to find three arkansas state university students who disppeared into this cramped dark cave near cushman arkansas. nats new video: here's casey? casey sherwood-a soon to be senior and cub scout leader-was leading two incoming freshmen on an expedition of 'the blowing cave'-where crevasses can reach a depth of forty feet-when he suddenly realized his group was lost. sot sher in there for about an hour and then i felt scared all of a sudden. nearly thirty hours went by as the trio huddled together to stay warm?.sitting in a triangle formation?..breathing into their shirts to generate hot air. sot sherwood pre-tape: any cool additional details about how they survived/how he felt-did he think he would ever be rescued? sherwood's wife alerted authorities to the groups disappearance. emergency personnel responding to the scene around 1:45 am.

back... a man is behind bars in atlanta - after police say he punched two sisters in the face. the 18 and 20 year olds were walking to their car after a late night run when they were attacked.... ....but they didn't let this guy take off. one of the girls bit him in the hand...the other kicked him. then - police found the guy walking along a road in the vo it was a gruesome case of torture... now the three suspets are in jail for their crimes..... a source telling only 13 action news this was a brutal, high-level retaliation... and one of the victims was a drug trafficker. police say two women were bound, duct taped and burned... and another man was stabbed. mario jimenez died in the home near lamb and stewart last november. weeks later his daughter angelica passed away from her injuries.

two of the suspects are from philadelphia, the other is local. another person is now charged....for beating and robbing a security guard at boulder station. police say the men attacked the guard and stole his gun. officers arrested two of the guys that morning. we're told the guard is still in the hospital, recovering from serious injuries. we've been telling you about the monkey on a plane at mccarran... but now we can finally show you the monkey. this video is from an airport in ohio... you see checkpoint. he shows agents the monkey and carries it through security. but frontier airlines claims the traveler did not tell them about the servicieal, and tried hiding the monkey in a duffle bag. during the flight to las vegas, the attendant saw the monkey and asked for its papers. the airline contends the man refused.. metro met the passenger once they landed at mccarran. he then showed officers the documents proving it was a therapy animal. it's a purfect homecoming ...

weekend. he was dropped off in a litter box outside the store, at eastern and russell, yesterday. but somehow he clawed his way out....made his way into the store and a volunteer found the little guy roaming around. little reese was properly identified by his microchip.. we are told the little guy is adjusting and appears happy. announced just a few hours the list of names for our new professional hockey team is down to the final five. yahoo sports is reporting, three of the options are-- the desert hawks, red hawks and night hawks. owner bill foley's company reportedly registered those names as several different website domain names. foley confirmed to the review journal he is considering the three names, but wouldn't give the other two. the team name is expected to be annoucned in the next few weeks. an oklahoma woman went to a dating service looking for love... and left with a lawsuit.
