taken into custody. we'll bring you more information as it becomes available. reporting live, 13 action news. >> another situation unfolding right now. you're looking into the eyes of a man police believe may be to blame for a death of a woman. 13 action news first to break this story, live this morning, after it happened. and we have more developments tonight. 13 action news anchor christopher king is live with more. chris? >> reporter: this is where police found the woman's body, right behind thisoo no one answered. and right now police are looking for this man. jaime santana, the main suspect in this murder, last seen driving a blue two-door scion, 2015, it has a nevada license plate 37 a 563. police say he lives at this home. right now he's missing. police found the woman's body inside the home. they say she was partially clothed and badly beaten.

they are not suspects. we are talking with the neighbors, calling friends, trying to get more details on this murder. as for santana, he's 25 years old, 5'10", hispanic male, weighing about 150 pounds. if you see him or have any information on where he is, please call police right away. live at lilac lane, christopher king, 13 action news. >> a developing story, the director of the boys and girls club of henderson has been arrested following accat children. 44-year-old willis brown, known as coach willis, was arrested yesterday, and just minutes ago we heard from somebody who claims to know him. >> it just wasn't a very good thing to read or hear about. and it just really disappoints me and it really hurts me because i trusted him. >> if you have any information on this case, police are asking

striking fear in a neighborhood. one woman says one of the dogs charged at her and she later got no response from the people living in the house. 13 action news reporter went knocking on doors for answers. >> i just want to be able to feel safe in my neighborhood from dogs, and from people that i have no idea who they are or how they got here. >> neighbors say five squatters are living in this house west clifton buffalo. they say it's been two weeks and we had no more luck talking to the intruders that neighbors had. >> this is a neighborhood with children, families, we have dogs. we're afraid. >> georgia says the squatters have dogs, too. and the other day one of them charged all the her. she was only saved from an attack when a friend yelled and scared the animal off. >> my heart was pounding. i was upset. i was afraid because that doesn't happen around here.

metro says he ran that car in the driveway through the system and no identification came up, leading him to believe that it's been stolen. >> it's frightening, terrifying to have this happening. we have small children in this neighborhood. it's not okay. >> neighbors say the dogs have gotten loose at least five times. they've seen fights in the middle of the street. they now ask for one thing. >> we would like somebody in authority to ask for a valid lease, rental agreement or deed. >> near west cliff and 13 action news. >> police need your help tracking down a violent criminal they say choked a woman until she passed out, then robbed her. take a good look at these surveillance photos. this happened near desert inn and maryland. police say the woman walked up behind the -- the man walked up behind the woman, began choking her, left her unconscious, then took several of her belongings and then took off. if you recognize him, get a good look. you're asked to call police right away. police are still looking for

as a matter of fact, coming up, i'm going to show you which neighborhoods will be the hottest in your 13 first alert forecast just ahead. >> a man accused of sexually assaulting a maid inside a hotel is now being held on $660,000 bail. the judge also raised concerns that ivan major could be a threat if he gets back on the street and wanted to set that bail higher because the crime appeared to be random and senseless. major is accused of attacking a maid who was cleaning a room in a hotel along boulder highway. plans to bring raiders to las vegas are a hot topic around town, but if that happens, how would all the fans get in? 13 action news political analyst john ralston has answers from nevada's top guy. >> the governor has been a big booster of the stadium project, seeing it as economic development, but he has raised concerns publicly and privately, including recently at a meeting

>> depending on that location, it could require some pretty expensive improvements to our interstates and the interchanges, and it's one of those things that's very important to me as governor and chairman of the transportation board that we keep track of the expenses. everyone's excited about getting the raiders here. i think it would be wonderful for southern nevada but we've got to make sure that we account for everything that's going to come with it. so certainly if we do bring them here and we have a stadium, we want to make sure that the traffic is able to accommodate that, that the interstate -- it won't just be the raiders. there will be essentially 80 plus events throughout the year. and when you've got 65,000 people coming to a single place, you want to make sure that their experience is a positive one. >> he also was concerned about calling a special session to approve a room tax increase before the election, afraid that it might have an impact on election outcomes. who wants to have a tax increase special session right before

safe but we've seen a number of cars not stop for pedestrians. activists tell us we are on a record-setting number for deaths on a roadways. >> where we were today in 2016 we've had seven more pedestrian fatal its. >> this time last year there were 23 pedestrian deaths. right now there have been 30 people killed on valley road wales. the last 24 hours have been some of the deadliest. the area near eastern and saw two deaths within hours of each other thursday. the first killed a 50-year-old man and then later a 37-year-old woman was killed. police believe both were either in or near a crosswalk at the time. walkers who live in the area believe more needs to be done to keep them safe. >> it's kind of dangerous walking around. they're upgrading some spots, but even people get hit on crosswalks. >> some of the people don't want to stop.

and you gotta duck and dodge them. >> activists tell us that with school starting at the end of this month, more people need to be vigilant around those school zones to make sure everyone gets home safely. reporting from eastern and sahara, 13 action news. >> chopper 13 fast and first over the river mountains water treatment facility in henderson this morning where a transformer caught on fire. the facility was briefly shut down as a precaution while firefighters got that situation under control. nobody was hurt, investigators are still trying to figure out >> it was meant to be a punishment for talking too much but it left an inmate screaming for nearly an hour. what was going on at this jail and what one man in charge said behind the camera that has him fighting for his job tonight. >> an update after investigators find a bunch of animals in a

>> that's the sound of a jail i believe may screaming in pain after -- inmate screaming in pain after jail taser in an attempt to get her quiet. the jail supervisor is heard instructing the guards to continue. >> pet her in a wrist lock -- put her in a wrist lock and twist her wrist until she shuts up and stops crying. >> the screams continue for more than 45 minutes as the woman pleads with officers who resort to using mace. the jail supervisor is now on leave while he's investigated

the jail administrator says new training procedures are now in place so this doesn't happen again. >> cats and kittens rescued from a hoarding situation are being nursed back to health and made ready for adoption. chief investigator has the details of a story that the only on 13 action news. >> reporter: two tiny for even a six-week old kitten, this little guy howls until he's placed with his mother, who has been too sick to nurse her babies. and its mother have been with the vet since the day they were seized in june. very sick, malnourished, underweight and in bad shape. in fact, it may have died if animal control hadn't stepped in. it's still being nursed back to health but the vet says it will be healthy enough to be adopted out soon. >> henderson authorities rescued 22 cats and kittens from a hoarding situation. julie frolic was arrested for

and recently pled no contest to three charges. depriving animals of food, shelter, medical attention, failure to spay and neuter, and exceeding the allowed number of animals. >> i pointed that out to her and she told me that my eyes were deceiving me. >> amy of street dogs rescue originally reported her to animal control. she had reached out to the rescue for help with food and litter but abruptly cut ties when they expressed concern about the cats. >> you still shake your head when these cases >> always. >> the doctor at vca black pound take a minute animal hospital provides medical treatment for henderson animal control. he and his staff treated about 10 of the animals from the case. >> they were all fairly emaciated, you know, in poor nutritional health. most of them had an upper respiratory infection like a cold. >> this mother cat is still being treated for a severe eye infection.

road recreational complex during an excessive heat warning. they say she appeared to be homeless and threatened to fight anyone who tried to take her cats. >> it looks like somebody just got overwhelmed and was trying to do the right thing with the cats and just couldn't. >> it's much more than that for amy. >> it's a mental health issue. she can't just be slapped on the wrist with jail time. >> but that's exactly what happened. despite a separate warrant out for her arrest for previous animal welfare violations, she was sentenced to just 30 days in jail in the henderson case. she served 12 and was released with an order not to commit any similar crimes for one year. she also had to forfeit all of her animals. >> she has declined repeated requests for an interview. most of her cats have already been adopted out by the city of henderson but the ones we showed you in this story still need forever homes and they should be

the only saving grace might be mount charleston in the 80s this weekend. that is a heat wave that they're going to face over there. we feel for the folks in mount charleston. so locally we haven't seen much in the way of thunderstorms the past few days. more drier air punches in for tomorrow. that will be such a bonus for everyone across the valley. more dry. it's not really that dry today. we're still tunnel -- double we will not see the moisture here. watch the timeframe. end of next week, starts to make a little bit of a comeback. that will bring the temperatures down a little bit more. still feel hot. won't change how it feels. it will just change how it looks out there probably. 113 for tomorrow. 100 searchlight. temperatures are still -- well, you know, in some areas, decent, but you have to go north.
