plus a man is found dead after this house fire. what investigators believe he was doing there! and -- we are monitoring the latest on those historic floods in louisiana....several people are dead and thousands more without a home. right now -- our 13 first alert weather team is closely watching the sky and those unsually hot temps in the valley. good afternoon las vegas -- i'm alert chief meteorologist bryan scofield. bryan --- how long are these winds going to last?? (ad-lib) the first of three systems that will affect area weather this week is currently passing to our north and will keep things breezy tonight. breezy winds will stay in the forecast tomorrow as another small system starts to push into the area. high temps will drop to 107 tuesday and wednesday and we'll stay in the breezy category as that system continues to push

make its way down the california coast and start to push moisture and more cloud cover our way starting thursday afternoon. also, high temps will continue to drop first to 105 on thursday, 102 on friday and saturday and 101 on sunday. by monday the system will start to push inland off the southern california coast and will improve our chances for rain to start next workweek. right now -- a man is dead -- killed in an early morning house fire investigators and neighbors tell us they believe he was squatting! chopper 13 fast and first to the scene this morning -- you can see the damage left behind. 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston tells us why officials say this was a squatter home. take vo this cell phone video we got from a viewer-- shows just how high the flames got earlier this morning-- when the home near sahara and lamb caught fire. take vo fire crews say when they got to the scene-- the utilities were all turned off.

locked-- telling them-- nobody was at least legally living inside the home. neighbors say this-- was a squatter home. 04:15:15 you can see how it looks, it kind of looks abandoned, so we just thought nobody was in there 04:15:23 investigators are now working to figure out if there was any foul play. mk-- 13an. this just in -- a scare for the guests staying at the rumor hotel as a fire breaks out! firefighters have just put out a two- alarm fire there. during the incident and no one was injured. crews are currently ventilating the structure so that guests can return to the property and their rooms. a local woman and a firefighter are in the hospital after an apartment goes up in flames. this is a video you'll see only on 13 action news -- the fire broke out near twain and valley view. in this video you see flames shooting up through the roof. even people running away trying to escape at least a dozen can't go home right now.

to stop the flames. he went to the hospital... but should be okay one person had to be treated for smoke inhilation. right now a gunman is on the run after shooting a man this morning. metro says the victim was shot by his house near lake mead and pecos. he is expected to be ok. police dont' have a description of the suspect.. a woman is recovering after being hit by a car overnight. police say she was jay-walking near lake mead and jones, around midnight... when a man driving a mustang hit her. she was taken to the hos expected to survive. metro says they do not believe the man driving was impaired. right now -- at least six people are dead and thousands more without a home after historic floods hit the south.... a state of emergency remains in effect in louisiana. historic rains have taken out entire communities and forced tens of thousands of people to ask for rescue. here you can see all of that rain on 13 first alert desert doppler... as abc's kenneth moton reports -- the waters are still

picked right back up....giving out thick plumes of white--gray--and black smoke.... the fire...destroying a historic northern california town. thousands have been evacuated. more than 3,000 acres have burned in lake county, in what authorities are calling the clayton fire. in the center of historic lower lake....several pockets of downtown were in flames or covered in ash. and....firefighters in portugal were continuing to battle yesterday....some of which have been burning for a week. over 900 firefighters were seen battling the flames in the forest near the serra da arada mountain range, attempting to keep the fires away from local villages. in total, 394 wildfires were counted on the portuguese mainland by late afternoon on sunday.... fuelled by a hot, dry summer. impressive video of a tornado..ripping through manila..in the philippines. this happened yesterday afternoon. the woman who shot the video said she was "terrified" by the
