police across the valley are after a dangerous purse-snatching gunman. plus -- in the race for the white house -- donald trump going after minority voters and clinton dealing with more email controversy. and.. president obama tours the devastation caused by historic flooding in baton rouge, louisiana. thank you for joining us -- i'm megan telles. and i'm steve wolford. we begin with the latest on the severe weather that moved across the valley last night.. and if we might see more of the same t let's go to 13-first alert chief meteorologist bryan scofield in the weather center. bryan. the system that brought us all the shower activity yesterday is now to our east, but we could still see isolated t-storms tonight on the back valley will be after 7pm. tomorrow and thursday we'll see temps warm back to the low 100s. thursday, another system will drop in from the north which will bring a little cool-down the area which will linger through at least saturday. chances for rain with this system will start in the also, expect breezy winds with this system on thursday and friday. the system moves on sunday and

then 102 on monday and 103 in louisiana -- visiting the areas floods over the past couple of weeks. he spoke with families impacted by the tradegy and said more than 100 thousand people have applied for federal assistance. this trip comes amid criticism from republicans that obama should have made the visit sooner. karin caifa is in denham springs, louisiana with the latest. and running. we are a resilient people. we've been knocked out, we got up, we fought back ///// parish, that's what i'm concerned with right now." in livingston parish, louisiana, i'm karin caifa. osha is now looking into why a scaffolding collapsed at tivoli village... killing a construction worker. we first broke this story right here on action 3.... 24 hours ago. police tell us three people were on the scaffold at the time. two managed to jump to safety, but the third worker fell to his death. management from tivoli village sent us a statement expressing their condolenes to the construction team and the victim's family. they say all construction at the site has been stopped until it's deemed safe to resume. a desperate search continues around laughlin right now for an elderly man who hasn't been seen in almost a week. the family of 80 year old

they say they were staying at the aquarius hotel. on friday.. they think he was seen on surveiilance video at a gas station in bullhead city. they're asking anyone who may have seen him to please call police. right now-- metro and north las vegas police are working together to find a serial purse snatcher... who's robbing women at gunpoint all over the valley. take a look at this map... showing where the crimes happened late sunday night. police say two of the women were robbed outside a walmart, another was held up at a 7-11... and at an apartment complex near rainbow and smoke ranch. women across the valley say they are on high alert. police are still working on a description of the suspect. we will keep you updated as soon as we get anymore details. a man is thanking some good samaritans and social media for tracking down his pickup truck after it was stolen early sunday morning from the venetian parking garage. he posted it on facebook.. which was shared hundreds of times. a man finally recognized the

and pete's brother. they all showed up moments later in a parking lot near sahara and maryland parkway.. but the thief took off. a short time later.. a nearby business says their security cameras caught the thief changing his clothes inside the truck and putting on a blonde curly wig before running off. outrage is growing in charlotte, north carolina right now where a deaf man was shot and killed by police. police say they were trying to pull over 29-year-old daniel harris for speeding.. which started a 7 mile chase. into his driveway and got out of his car. sot: "he stopped right here. a few seconds later i heard a gunshot." sot neighbor: "that guy's deaf, he didn't even hear the siren. he didn't hear anything." neighbors believe harris was trying to use sign language to communicate with the officers when a state trooper opened fire. the trooper is now on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. your voice.. your vote in the race for the

republican donald trump is stepping up his push for minority voters while hillary clinton continues to brush off another firestorm over some newly released emails from her private server. abc's maggie rulli has the latest. rallying an enthusiastic crowd in akron, ohio last night... trump nat: i just get the feeling were going to win in a landslide. donald trump once again asking african-americans for their vote...before a mostly white audience trump: we'll get rid of the crime, you'll be able to walk down the street without getting shot. look at the statistics, we'll and now he's expanding his plea to hispanics as well. abc political analyst rick klein says, trumps outreach to minority voters - is also for white voters. klein: he wants to give white voters comfort more themes on repeat - trump appears to be softening his firm stance on immigration... and he once again accuses the democrats of rigging the election against him. trump asks his supporters to make sure they 'watch' the polls trump: "and when i say watch, you know what i'm

thicker than water - well science may now be able to a new study from the university of toronto found older adults who are close to family members live longer than those who are closer to friends. researchers asked people between 57 and 85 to list up to five of their "closest confidants".. excluding spouses.. and detail those relationships. people who said they feel "extremely close" to family members had about a six-percent risk of death over the next five years. that's compared to 14-percent for those who said they were "not very close" to any family members. and the more the merrier,

close family members in their network... the odds of death were lowered even more. the author of the study was suprised by the outcome.. saying that since you can choose your friends.. you might be able to better customize your network to meet your needs. the southern nevada health district is confirming to 13 action news the first human case of west nile virus in southern nevada this year. they say the victim is a female over the age of 50. she was hospitalized with the more serious neuro-i form of the virus but has since been released. america's top heart experts have a new recommendation for how much sugar your kids should be eating. but even if you keep them away from candy and cookies.. they can still get sugar in ways you might not think of. here's abc news kenneth moton. that after-school snack? may have just gotten a lot less sweet. the american heart association this week, setting a new recommended daily limit for kids' consumption of what are known as added sugars - those

deadly motorcycle crash on the 15 at the "d" street off ramp. we're told an suv slammed into the motorcycle around noon.. killing the rider instantly. the driver of the suv suffered minor injuries. it's still unclear who was at a golden retriver that had gone missing after her owner got in a crash near primm... has been found. this is video of nala this morning.. it was posted on the bring nala home facebook page. nala had been missing since last wednesday... police are searching for three men accused of robbing a robertos overnight near rainbow and charleston. it's the third time this location has been held up since june. police believe this holdup could be connected to some other robberies at robertos.
