how officials there are reacting to his immigration plans. plus... neighbors living in fear after their homes are riddled by gunfire. the confrontation that led to a child being pistol-whipped. but first...... construction blasts in one southern highlands neighborhood continue-- despite a pending lawsuit. people living nearby say the blasts are damaging their homes. the blasting company telling homeowners their houses would be safe from damage. 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston was there for one of those blasts earlier today. take nat construction take vo this was one of several blasts-- just in the past couple months-- that people living nearby this construction site say-- have damaged their homes. contractors sent out this letter-- telling people about the blasts-- but also adding that homes would be safe. one person says his home backs up against the construction site-- and says his home has

damaged by blasts literally 100 yards behind my balcony they've been blasting huge patches of earth and just blowing it right out of the ground marissa tag we did reach out to the company hired for the blasts-- wesco drilling and blasting. we havent heard back-- but again this letter was sent to people living nearby-- it says their process follows state and county laws. mk-- 13an. one of the men charged with killing a teenage boy over an i-pad... has been found guilty on all c a jury found michael solid guilty of first degree murder and robbery charges... after stealing the ipad of 15-year-old marco arenas. arenas was ran over when he tried to get the tablet back. the incident happened during a time when a series of thefts of apple products began happening around the country. solid now faces the possibility of life in prison without parole. we're learning more about a shootout on the 95 involving an n-h-p trooper.

when trooper shawn peckham tried to pull a car over near boulder station for an improper license plate display. that's when 41 year old matthew gibbon took off running. peckham chased after him... leading to the shoot out. peckham was hit... but the bullet was deflected by his badge-- possibly saving his life. the two other people in the car with gibbon were taken into custody. peckham is a 3 year veteran of the nevada highway patrol, bulles apartment complex...one of them hitting a home with a child inside. 13 action news reporter parker collins is the only one to check in on that family. 7:52:36-7:53:01 take vo at 7:52:43 several shots were fired during the confrontation one of them going through this window you see up here police are telling us a man woman and child were walking around in this complex when they were confronted by three other the bottom and one of those

retired police officer found a baby locked in a hot car in a shopping center parking lot. when they saw the child's condition they rushed into action. (sarah mazzone/helped rescue the baby) ( "she was beat red, sweating profusely. she was half covered in a sledgehammer that i left in the back of the car. so i ran i got it and i smashed the window, took the baby out."

store to cool off until police arrived. the child's mother left the baby in the car for nearly an hour while she went shopping. she was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. turning now to new york...and an intense rescue on the hudson river. a number of kayakers needing help after they were hit by a ferry. 5 kayackers were taken to nearby hospitals, most with minor injuries. 1 person remain in critical condition..another has been upgraded to serious condition this afternoon. jasmine hairson were a lot of helicopters and search boats. and they got the guy really fast but he couldn't move or feel anything. it's still not clear what led to this accident, but officials continue investigating. the coast guard administered alcohol testing to the captian of the ferry. he came back clean. millions are bracing for another round of severe weather... as tropical storm hermine

after a powerful typhoon hits northern japan. the storm made landfall tuesday and was later downgraded to a tropical depression. police say the victims were found in an elderly home in a town swamped by flooding. officials say a rescue effort is underway in that area to save 400 people stranded by the rising water and landslides. right now, parts of florida and hawaii are bracing for possible hurricanes and tropical storms. the governor of florida declaring a state of hurricane bears down on the bigh island of hawaii. abc's lauren lyster has the latest. hawaii saying aloha to the threat of major storms... this mcdonald's boarded up...businesses getting prepared - covering their windows, too as not one but two hurricanes are barelling towards the island chain the big island under a hurricane warning "i know businesses have been
