i'm catherine cortez masto and i come from a big family. a whole lot of people. a whole lot of love. and a whole lot of food.
9:20 am
60 years ago they met here in nevada and we grew as a family really grew as a family. dad got his start parking cars at the dunes hotel. but he went on to be the head of tourism for las vegas and helped build the city we know today. dad lived his life following three principles, work hard, be honest and respect everyone, that's what i tried to do as attorney general. catherine took on the big banks when they preyed on homeowners. and forced them to pay one point nine billion dollars to nevadans. in protecting children from sex traffickers. and passed laws to keep seniors safe from crooked scams. i'm catherine cortez masto, i approve this message because i've spent my career solving problems, isn't that something
9:21 am
shawn, how awesome would it be to hang out with health care practitioners and talk about issues that are important to you? it's important to everybody. now you can on a monthly event designed to bring the community together. >> here with all the events and topics covered is dr. rennee coffman. madam >> hello. >> tell us about roseman and how it was started and the history. >> well, roseman started about 17 years ago when dr. harry rosenberg and myself came because there was a huge need for pharmacists. we were both pharmacy educators, and had a ph.d. and so we came here to alleviate that need. and we started just as a college of pharmacy.
9:22 am
so we aren't supported by state tax dollars, and you know, as a not for profit we don't -- we reinvest everything that we have into the new programs. and part of that new programs as we grew over the last 17 years came about because we listened to our community. and we starred with the pharmacy school, as i said, but as the hospital partners engaged with us they talked about how much they needed nurses. and there's still a nursing shortage. added on a health care mba program to help with the business aspects. >> oh, the coding. and recently changed how all the coding is done, right? this is why you're there. >> exactly. and we have an orthodontist residency program. not only do we train new orthodontists but the community can come in and get braces at about half the cost. >> no kidding. >> absolutely.
9:23 am
in 17 years we've grown and expanded because we listened to our community and what our community needs. we focus on health care and health care professionals. that is just -- there's such a tremendous need, particularly as our population is aging, as the state is growing. it's a huge need. we rob able to step in and help fill that void. >> we understand you teach differently at roseman. tell us about the six-point learning >> yes. we felt that it was really important for health care professionals to be highly competent, and we developed a learning model so all of our graduates are highly skilled and the best that they can possibly be in their chosen health profession. it starts with competency based learning. it's hugely important for health care professional. if you go to a traditional school where there is a 90-80 grading system, do you want your
9:24 am
to only know 70% of the material? >> of course, not. >> we focus on competency, and it makes a lot of sense. either you know something or you don't. so our full -- is making sure every graduate has that level of competency. as part of that we built the learning system around that. so including the competency learning, we have an aspect that is revolving around learning assessment, so whe takes a test they don't take it in a vacuum and it's done. they get together and talk about the right answers and wrong answers and the faculty come back and review the right answers and wrong answers. there is active learning components, not somebody just lecturing at you. it's a day where the -- the students are actively engaged as part of the experience. they take one class at a time,
9:25 am
master that material before they move on to something else. they get out into the -- they get in the community early, and the last point is the classroom deseen itself. the class many room is designed as a hexagon with everybody engaged. theater in the round. it helps to engage all the students in the learning process. >> we have 45 seconds left. i want to make sure they hear about the health series. it's been a lot of meaningful moments, laughter, crying. tell us what the event is about. >> the exciting event about the neighborhood health series is that it really engages, not just somebody lecturing at you, not the regular lecture series you see, this is something that really engages the people that attend these many prays. for example, we had a program about caring for your aging parents, and everybody knows today that more and more middle-aged folks are not only having to care for kids but parents, as well.
9:26 am
and the added components to not having a parent that may be ill and may not be, as well as you like, and now you're the caretaker of your mom or dad. having that conversation with an expert, we have over 500 faculty and staff that have expertise, and the top health care professionals, and they're doing it to provide that information to help serve the neighborhood. >> awe many so. >> and you have an upcoming event. tell us about >> we have one of the preeminent cancer researches talking about cancer, because it is -- cancer is interesting. it's really a mire i i had of a bunch of different diseases. we're going to use the expertise that we have at roseman to help i'd kate the community about that. >> excellent. it's great having you. and we're looking forward to seeing people at the event. >> it is free. >> oh. >> and there is food.
9:27 am
there is free cookies afterwards so you can get to know your neighbors and talk to the folks. >> thanks so much. you can call or go online to register for the discussion. it's next week on thursday, september 15th, at 5:30 p.m. there is food. the address is right there on your screen. same for more information, as well. up next, discover the hidden tellents of your favorite personality, the special talent show you don't want to miss. a community event to tell you about, star gaze at star canyon. this saturday night, take a look at the stars, shawn. it's a family friendly event during which you may be able to see saturn's moon and rings through a telescope. plus several other incredible sights. from 7:30 to 9:00 at the sky canyon park.

9:31 am
tv and print. all coming together and showing off talents you never knew they had. like for instance this year we have tyco drums that come out. shawn has seen it before. >> these are incredible. phenomenal. >> and they come out and rock n' roll. we have bagpipers. we have three different bands. i'll be performing, even bette >> what will you be doing? >> there is everything. i'm doing a cool mash up along with kelly, that we're going to pull together a couple rock n' roll tunes that we're going to do together that we've been working on. >> i've been seeing the facebook live rehearsal videos. >> oh, yeah. it's been a work in progress. >> getting to see them do their thing. >> it has been. so we're looking forward to having a really esciting show this year between the bands. we got dancer, a girl coming out doing color guard with all the
9:32 am
>> we got a full trance troupe coming out, and you know, it's -- >> 25 bucks. >> isn't it amazing what talent people pull out when you start to ask? >> of course. >> i feel like glorified karaoke singer. but when i get with the band, i come alive. >> and you're among your friends. >> and the cool thing about the show is 100% of the proceeds go to benefit safe nest. when we started the sw, never had any hard costs. station casinos always donates the rooms, so we're inside santa fe station. on friday. 6:00, doors open. with silent axe. and we got a great silent axe with about -- i think we got about 35 different items from stacations, to a snow board, to a golf we have so much cool stuff. restaurants. just lots of great stuff that
9:33 am
we'll give away a 55-inch 4 k, smart tv. >> wow. >> that will be raffled off during the show. >> awesome. >> tickets are only $25, so it's a night of great entertainment. it's cheap. it's a win-win. and we have no hard costs so every single penny we get-goes directly to safe nest. we don't have to pay for the room, the people, the crew. they do it all. we have great sponsors, like subaru of las vegas was the title sonar s to help us out. >> shannon, tell us about how this will benefit safe nest. >> for those who don't know safe nest is nevada's largest charity fully dedicated to domestic violence. we are -- our programs are for advocacy counseling, prevention and we have the undisclosed shelter location for victims and

many of us seen the befores and afters of people getting rid of eye bags in minutes. we have a guest here to tell us about it. if you ever pondered the idea of injections or surgery you might want to think again. remarkable product called plexaderm works in minutes to reduce the designs of aging. if you have wrinkles or crow feet or under eye bags, get ready to be amazed. scott defalco is here to share
9:38 am
technology. it will change the way you see yourself in the mirror. thank you. >> get ready to be wowed. this is incredible. this product plexaderm has taken the country by storm. >> tell me about it. >> i want to introduce you to my good friend, ritchey. we'll put him up here on the screen. we'll call him ritchey bag. what you're seeing him do is rubbing the plexaderm under his eye bag. this is a product that specializes in under eye bags but will work wrinkles in your forehead. we're going to come back to him. i was actually in the room when we did this, and in three or four minutes it was completely gone. you're going to be shocked. >> i could see he definitely has eye bags. they can be genetic, because of age, and they make you look just tired. >> you know what? gravity sucks. and basically what we're dealing with. gravity takes every where in our body. i'm going to bring up a term
9:39 am
collagen. what cool a january is, it's responsible for the cell structure in our skin. and over time it degrades, and that's why we get the bags, the wrinkles and everything else in our face and people get collagen injections for that, but now they don't have to do that. those can be painful. you and i talked before we started the segment. we hate needles. and they can be expensive, too. it works in less than five minutes, and completely takes it >> this is going to be amazing. >> let's go back to ritchey and see where we are. i know we're doing realtime on him. i was in the room for this. and you can see after two minutes it's already starting to go away. it's about half reduced. everyone is affected differently. some people takes three minutes, some people four minutes shall but takes no longer than ten minutes for it to work. it's really incredible. >> you can really start to see it. >> and for the people that are
9:40 am
of it, i carry this piece of rock with me across the country. this is where it's derived from. >> this is what it's made out of it. >> they go into the formula, so what happens is when you rub it on your under eye bags, or crow feet, people use it for their laugh lines, but the mole kills in the formula, once you rub them in your skin they weave together. they actually make it really taught and make a smooth contour. >> whatever it is, it's working. we saw ritchey. we have before and afters to show. >> basically this is just, you know, before they use the product and after. and like i said each person is different. that one right there is after ten minutes. it will take no longer than ten minutes. this person is -- >> wow. >> this person is three minutes.
9:41 am
it's just incredible. and i want to tell you, j.j., for people that ask me this question all the time, how does it work with make up, because most guys besides myself don't wear make up during the day. so it's hard to cover these things up. and as you know as a woman, women wear make up all the time. and sometimes covering it up with make up makes it worse. >> it really does. you add more layers. >> you can use this with your make up, and like i said it affects guys more than women beus up. you're going to want to put this on a clean, dry face. you clean your face in the morning, put this on, wait ten minutes. then you can use a moisture user and put your make up on. >> okay. so what about the guys now? we had a photo of a guy. he had a great transition. it's amazing. >> people are -- >> there it is. >> look at that. that is completely gone. completely gone. another thing i want to mention, and i have this here, something
9:42 am
call for plexaderm, the reason why we suggest it is that it has an oilless base. we want you to use a moisture icer that does not have oil in it. that counteracts the effectiveness of plexaderm. so you're going to want the clean, dry face. you wait ten minutes, put your oilless moisturizer on, then your make up. >> that was my next question, how long does it last. >> they tell you we only last two the three hou, does that do? this is going to last you all day, six to eight hours, it's going to change your life. >> it really is amazing results. can we check in? >> let me go back to my buddy. >> wow. >> it's almost completely gone, about 80% gone, and believe it or not it was funny when we asked him to do this. we said we're going to ask you to do it. he said really? well, we have this new product ad plexaderm. you would be a great candidate.
9:43 am
smiled after he saw the results. >> i hope you did the other eye for him. >> of course we did. when he looked in the mirror he was amazed. we were all shocked in the room. it was mind-blowing. >> it's an amazing transformation. both you and i shared we have an acting background, and one thing you learned it's all about the eyes. and what a way to just take years off your face. >> and to not look tired and to look fresh. you can gain from this, just from that five minutes at the most, you're going to gain ten to 15 rears on your appearancers because the elasticity in your skip, it degrades over time. this is a way to uncomer the act it. >> like we said, there are no needles involved. and it really does well for order theiry people. >> yes. >> everybody could use a -- >> when you see ritchey, we'll
9:44 am
we were all amazed. here you go. you ready? you talk about looking good. ordinary people can look good. there is a rock star right there. there is a groupy. you want to be a rock star in life, not the groupy. and there are the results. it's just incredible. he got up and smiled. and he was even amazed at the results. >> it's amazing how the small details can make such a difference if someone's appearance. >> 40% off of the product, and you can buy two, get one free. if you call the number we'll put up plexaderm.com, tell them you saw scott on the show with this rock star over here, j.j. welcome to las vegas. >> thank you. thank you. >> but you know, just tell them you saw me on "the morning blend" with you and they'll give you that special and buy two, get one free can't beat it. >> we are blown away with the results. thank you so much. you saw great results this morning. oh, my gosh. for more information about plexaderm, just head to the
