at the mccarran airport garage there. you see police on the scene. a massive police presence there. >> reporter: that's right. we did just get an e-mail from police about three minutes ago and they do say this is domestic violence. they do not even mention the word terror believe this is just domestic violence. we're told this happened on the sixth floor. fire officials told me that two people were transported, so some of the information is with them. they say it happened right
6:48 pm
was shot, domestic violence related and they told me that they don't know the condition of the victims, i did ask firefighters here on the scene about the condition of the victims, he told me that both were conscious and both were speaking. i then asked, do you believe the shooter is in custody or are they searching for someone. he told me the information he has, they are looking for the shooter. police have not talked to about 30 passengers, no one hurt or saw anything. quite a ways away from where people are at the ground level here. back in the studio right now. >> thank you. she says she has conflicting reports on the number of people shot as many as two, at least one, we know from the sources that we have gathering. that happened on the sixth floor of the parking garage at the airport. she says
6:49 pm
that she initially has is that this was some sort of domestic violence situation. that's what she's hearing from metro police. obviously if that's the case, that might alleviate some fears about terrorism. that's obviously on everyone's minds right now. numerous investigators there on the scene. they seem to be focused on that suv there on the scene. obviously making things difficult for people who are trying to get their car from the airport. we want that the airport connector is closed temporarily as they continue to investigate the shooting. i'm going to send it over to steve and tricia from what they are seeing from the chopper view. >> you're seeing backup on the right part of your screen. this is a domestic situation, so that's the good thing, it can calm fears. you're looking at a live picture right now, i was doing a little bit of background
6:50 pm
a very safe airport and we never even hear of a domestic situation happening there. we've had different situations, but nothing like this. >> you look at all of the foot traffic. we got word from the police that the connector tunnel has reopened. we'll see the traffic start to move again. we're winding down on rush hour at this point. expect delays if you know anybody going through that area. all things considered, this is a very safe airport. >> last time i checked, mccarran wasn't even tweeting anything about this situation. we're going to keep an eye on this and get the very, very latest as this situation develops more. right now, we want to check in with bryan scofield with the latest on our weather situation out there. >> in the early morning hours, we'll have a chance to throw in a shower or two from a hurricane, of all things, down south, they affect us quite often, as a matter of fact.
6:51 pm
affected the temperatures that much. we managed to push the numbers up to at least 100 degrees. nothing doing for tonight. i don't expect rain for tonight. we would like to give you the first alert forecast. we would alert you if this was going to make it in for tonight. several will push on in and give us increased chances for tomorrow. all because of hurricane kaine down to the south. mostly the heavy stuff not to say we don't have the potential to throw some in. we'll get an opportunity to see rain for tomorrow from it. a quick look. a couple hundred miles off the baja peninsula. what's left of it by wednesday will continue to say down to the south of the valley. that makes a big difference. if we were to see it get drawn up in the flow, there's a good chance very heavy rain off of it. in the next 24
6:52 pm
forecasting some of those bands coming through the valley. by 3:00 a.m., we're seeing some. once again, heavy stuff outside of the valley, to get some showers in the valley that sounds like a bonus to me. we'll have another chance as well. an amazing week, we have so many things going on. before the weekend, we'll stay in the 80s. most of the week, we'll be in the 80s. the big drop comes by friday when we start having colder autumn air come in the picture. shower. we'll watch all of this come together and keep wind in the picture and overnight lows

open. the latest from metro police is that they don't believe the shooter is still at the airport, that they are still searching for the suspect, but they don't believe that shooter is on airport property at this time. that's important to note as well. we have been monitoring social media this evening, we have had people reporting that there's an active shooter situation, that's not the case. this is pretty much contained to mention that the connector tunnel to the airport is back open. traffic is moving in that area. it just looks like some time there. very large airport. this is an international airport. several stories there, tricia and steve, obviously it will take a while to contain that situation to figure out where that suspect may have gone. >> one of the things, and you made a really good point. this is one of those times when a lot
6:57 pm
social media that is not true. we do our level best in situations like this to try to get the information reported firsthand. so, again, and this is worth repeating. this is what police are describing as a domestic situation unfolding in one of the parking structures. they don't even bel gunman is on the airport property any more. >> they were transported to sunrise hospital with unknown injuries. we know for sure that two people were transported from the scene in this domestic situation. our reporter there reported a moment ago that according to her information, the two people who were transported were both conscious as they were taken to the hospital; is that correct?
6:58 pm
asked if it was life-threatening or nonlife-threatening, he wasn't sure, but he could tell me they were conscious and speaking. the fire official said they are still looking for the suspect, we got an update to say that the suspect is not on the property here and that would make sense, when we first arrived, there were so many police vehicles and now you can see that this area is pretty much clear. even when we arrived, the airport wasn't really shutdown, people were just where is that suspect, one of the people transported could potentially be a suspect, but we don't know. this happened on the sixth floor where all of this played out. nobody heard anything because of all of the
6:59 pm
with everybody on scene and nobody saw or heard anything. >> can you giver us an idea idea, do you think that would be more consistent with airport employees because it is not really a -- it wouldn't be that popular for a place for people to park. i'm looking rig there are some empty spots available on other floors. the sign says short term pshg -- parking, so this is short-term parking, there are other parking spots that we have seen open on other levels, that's a great question. it wouldn't be employees. >> this is terminal one, that parking structure right across from terminal one where southwest and all of the other
7:00 pm
one right now, correct? >> that's right. this is where domestic flights come in. there were a lot of passengering right on the ground level. a couple of witnesses told me they did see one person on a stretcher being taken from the elevator all of this together but right now domestic incidents played out on the sixth floor, a lot of people did not hear anything. is the shooter perhaps at the hospital, because the wording of that e-mail from police suggested they are not on
