appearance at i heart radio. >> i know. which is crazy. that was i heart radio this weekend. you had life is beautiful this weekend. you had conversations with norm this weekend. >> how was that? >> fantastic. >> the holmes. >> and now we have another interesting event tonight. >> yes. >> whoa. >> this is like, you know, this is lee -- >> you ready? >> shawn and j.j., good morning. >> hi. >> first up this morning, tonight marks the first general election presidential debate. which by the way this is 1960 to now, what is that? 45, 46 years? 46 years to the day that it was nixon versus kennedy in the first -- 46 years to the day. >> how interesting. >> unlv is going to be home to the third and final debate of this presidential cycle. that's happening next months. >> it is so exciting that we have this. here with more is jacob thompson, the associate
9:02 am
sanford debate forum. good morning. >> good morning. >> 6:00 o'clock tonight's from hofstra university. lester holt is going to be moderating. why are debates so important to this process? >> well, it's an important moment in america's democratic process. it's a condensation point in the campaign. it's the only chance that we have to see the two candidates standing side by side contesting one another and so it's really a chance for the electorate to compare both candidates on important issues. >> over the years, these debates have kind of morphed in importance, 46 years to the day, 1960 you had john f. kennedy. you had richard nixon. people that heard over the radio thought nixon might have won by a hair. people that saw on television thought kennedy slam dunked it. >> wow. >> it's more than just the words. it's really that the theatrics of it all.
9:03 am
and image played a huge role in the 1960 debate. i've read polls that indicate 6% of voters, 4 million american, made a decision who to vote for on solely watching the debate, which turned into 3 million votes for kennedy. that election was won by just over 112,000 votes. >> to me, it's so interesting to know they've been saying hillary clinton is preparing herself and that trump chose to be more out in public and kind of practicing his voice. you being a debater and being the coach of the debate team at unlv, what do you think about the prep? >> well, i think that success in debate is like success in real estate. location, location, location. i think it's preparation, preparation, preparation. and i think that debaters that do their homework and more prepared are more likely to win. >> we'll see. we'll see. it starts tonight. wraps up here at unlv which is
9:04 am
>> yeah. >> how have you been preparing the students at unlv to take this on? >> well, there have been a lot of on campus activities and things we've been doing. i'm teaching classes, one called presidential debates. the students are really excited. i think all across campus about the opportunities that they have to volunteer, to work at on campus events and to participate in this kind of once in a lifetime process. so it's a really big deal i think for students and faculty at unlv. >> it's great. you must feel the excitement in i mean, are the students debating? are people passionate? >> absolutely. i think there is a lot of passion over this election in particular, opinions are pretty polarized. but i also think that students are genuinely excited for the event itself and to participate in the kind of once in a lifetime educational opportunity. >> really? the fact that unlv had this debate has really opened up a lot of these classes being off the record.
9:05 am
so many classes related to presidential debates is because of the event itself. >> so tonight there is a special screening that is open not only to students, but also to the general public if anyone wants to come down and really feel a part of it. correct? >> yeah. so tonight the debate will start at 6:00 o'clock if folks want toyshop up around 5:30. it will be held in the unlv student union ballroom. there will be free food, which is always -- >> you had burritos at the first rally? >> what? >> oh, love it. >> i don't know if there will be burritos i can't make you promises. >> i'll take tacos. >> we'll have a great debate give aways. it's going to be a really exciting events where people can come together and watch the debate and participate in the democratic conversation. i think we'll emerge around these. >> it will be an incredible time. we're looking forward to tonight. thank you for joining us. >> thank you very much. >> thank you. >> again, if you'd like to take part, the first debate is tonight. but the third and final one set

eir pay during a government shutdown. congressman heck is what's wrong with washington. dscc is responsible for the content of this advertising. everything you can to bring it back? regrow back your own natural hair with no pain and no side effects. it's possible according to our next guest. here with more is lindsay kay from laser med solutions. great having you again. >> thanks for having me. >> so explain laser hair therapy. it sounds like something out of some sort of science fiction novel. but this actually works. >> this actually works. is it is a noninvasive treatment. so there is no pain and absolutely no side effects. and what we're doing is we're using low level laser to
9:09 am
and regrew back your hair. >> how is this working? >> we're applying laser energy to your hair and this stimulates the growth stage. so we are increasing circulation and blood flow back to the scalp and like i said, we're gonna stimulate that growth stage for you. >> i was actually reading up how this is done and how they came about this. they tested it on rats or something like that and realized the rats were growing like afros. how is it possible? >> the nice part about it is i mean, it is you hair. with it you're able to be treated whether you're male or female, it doesn't matter your age. what we check for is actually active hair follicles and a lot of the time when you don't have any visible hair there in that area, you still have an active hair follicle. we can still help. >> so essentially gets rid of whatever the blockage is that has -- to clear what -- >> correct. i mean, everybody's severity will be different. that's something we definitely
9:10 am
evaluation. but you come in, we'll check to see if you still have active hair follicles and we'll let you know how long it will take to you get the best results. >> how long does it take to get those results? >> the laser actually starts to take effect in four to six weeks and typically our patients are seeing that positive cosmetic change in just the first few months. again, it does depend on your severity of hair loss so that's something we could address in clinic with that evaluation for you. >> absolutely. we're taking a look at some before and afters right now. it's pretty remarkable. >> it is. >> one thing especially t one. my goodness. >> of course. that patient right there did get better results than what was even expected, of course, because you can see the severity when he first came in and you would take an initial look and think, wow. we can not help this person. they had no active hair follicles. so sometimes you may think you are too far gone when that's not the case. so the most important part is coming into the clinic so we can address it and see if you have those active hair follicles. >> who is a good candidate for this? when it comes to hair loss, when you see medication, it's
9:11 am
>> yes. this is something where we can treat males, but we can treat females with this, which is really exciting because females don't have a lot of options. it's very traumatic for a female to suffer from hair loss and a lot of the time we are covering up with wigs, extensions, which could be further damaging to the hair. >> of course, yeah. >> so as soon as you notice any type of hair loss or hair fall out, you definitely wants to do something about it because the sooner you catch it, the better of a result we can actually get wi >> so i know that there is no pain. do you feel like a warming sensation or anything? >> there is no heat coming from it. but there is gonna be no pain, no heat. it's nice and easy for you and again, no side effects. so it doesn't really matter your medical history. if you're on certain medications, you have certain health concerns. we can still treat you with this treatment. most people are going to be a good candidate. >> we're taking a look at the machine that you actually use in house.
9:12 am
$700 buy at home yourself situations. >> no. >> this is a legit piece of equipment. >> we have in clinic pieces and in home. and it depends on your lifestyle and what's convenient for you. a lot of patients now adays are doing a laser cap which is a portable cap that they can use in the comfort of their own home and it's nice and simple for them. >> absolutely. so there is really options out there. >> there is options out there. >> if people want to take advantage of this, you have a special offer? >> you need c if you give us a call today, we'll do that evaluation and consultation for free. so you can come in. it takes about half an hour. we'll check to see if you have active hair follicles and if we can treat you and help you with laser hair therapy. >> it's a lot cheaper than getting surgery. >> a lot cheaper, absolutely. >> and a lot less painful. >> there is no pain involved with it and you're not going to cause any side effects. so again, it's pain free for you. come in. we'll see if we can help you.

9:14 am
>> j.j., get ready to be wowed. this is incredible. this product plexaderm has taken the country by storm. >> wow me. all right. tell me all about it. >> first i want to introduce to you my good friend, richie. we'll put him up here on the screen. i call him richie bags. i think you can see why. he's got some issues under those eyes. what you're seeing him do is rubbing the plexaderm under his eye bag. this is a product that specializes in undereye bags but also will work on your crow's feet and wring thes and forehead. we're going to do this in real time. we're going to show him and come back to him. we did this and in three, four minutes, it was completely gone. you're going to be shocked. >> i could see he definitely has eye bags. they can be genetic. they can be because of age and they make you look tired. >> you know what, gravity sucks. that's basically what we're dealing with. over time, gravity takes place everywhere on our bodies. i'm going to bring up a term called collagen. people are familiar with this because a lot of them get collagen injections for this very reason. what collagen is is it's
9:15 am
structure in our skin. over time it degrades. when it degrades, that's why we get the bags, that's why we get the wrinkles and everything else on our face. and people will go and get collagen injections for that. but now they don't have to do that. those can be painful. you and i talked before we started the segment. we hate needles. they can be expensive, too. this is topical. you rub it right on, just like you saw richie do. it works in less than five minutes and completely takes it away. incredible. >> wow. this is going to be amazing. >> yes. let's go back to richie. let's see where we are. i know we're him. this is not altered. like i said, i was in the room for this. you can see after two minutes, it's already starting to go away. it's about a half reduced. everyone is affected differently. some people takes three minutes. some people four. it takes no longer than ten minutes for it to work. it's really incredible. >> oh, my gosh. >> yeah. you can really start to see it there. >> and for the people that are interested in the technicalities of it, most people want to know, does it work? but i carry this piece of shale
9:16 am
country because this is where it's derived from. >> this is what it's made out of. >> yes. there are sill indicates -- silicates that go into the formula. what happens is when you rub it on your undereye bags, again, or crows feet, people also use it for laugh lines. what's going on is the molecules in the formula, once you rub them into your skin, they weave together and as it dries into your skin, they actually make it really taut and make a contour. that's technically what happens when you rub it on in minutes. >> whatever it is, it's working. we also have some before and after clips to show. >> yeah. >> tell us what's going on here. >> this is just before they used the product and after. like i said, each person is different. that one right there is after ten minutes. it will take no longer than ten minutes. this person is up to three minutes. look at that. you look younger. you look better. it's just incredible. and i want to tell you for
9:17 am
all the time, how does it work with make-up because most guys, besides myself, don't wear make-up. usually during the day. it's hard to tover these things up. and as you know as a woman, women wear make-up all the time. ems too trying to cover it up, it makes it worse. >> it does. under the eye, because you add more layers and it just makes the creases look bigger. >> you can use this with your make-up. like i said, it affects guys even more than women because they don't wear the make-up. you'll want to put this on a clean, dry face. clean your face in put this on and wait ten minutes. then you can put on a moisturizer and put your make-up on. >> what about the guys now? we had a photo up of a guy. he had a great transition. it's amazing. >> incredible. >> oh, my goodness. >> and people have -- there it is. look at that. >> wow. >> that's completely gone. another thing i want to mention here, i have this that you can purchase when you call for plexaderm. the reason why we suggest it is
9:18 am
so w moisturize that are does not have oil in it. most do because that actually counteracts the effectiveness of plexaderm. so you're going to want the clean dry face, put the plexaderm on, wait ten minute, put your oilless moisturizer on, then your make-up and you're ready to go. it lasts the whole day. >> does it really? >> the whole day. >> that was my next question is how long does it last? >> there are products that advertised. they tell you we last two to three hours. what good is that? this is going to last six to eight hours. it's going to change your >> it really is amazing. can we check in with richie? >> after five minute. >> wow! >> it's almost completely gone. i'd say it's about 80% gone. and believe it or not, it was funny when we asked him to do this. we said, we're gog ask you to be on tv. he was all excited. i said we have this product called plexaderm. he said great. we brought him in the room. as you can see, he was not happy. but he actually smiled after he saw the results. >> i hope you did the other eye
9:19 am
when he was done and looked in the mirror, he was just amazed. he actually smiled. we were all smocked in -- shocked in the room. >> it's an amazing transformation. we have an acting background, it's all about the eyes and what a way to just take years off your face. >> and to not look tired and to look fresh. you can gain from this, just from that five minutes or ten minutes at the most. you're going to gain maybe ten to 15 years on your appearance you really are because the elasticity in your skin, which has to do with the collagen, over time, there is nothing we can do about it. >> it's so incredible because like we said, there are no needles involved. yes, exactly. and it really does well for ordinary people. >> yes. >> everybody could use a little of that. >> when you see richie, we'll bring him back up on the screen. it's gone. gone. >> yeah. >> absolutely gone. we were all amazed. here you go. you ready?
9:20 am
this is a rock star right there. there is a groupy. want to be a rock star. not the groupy. and there are the results. it's just incredible. he got up. he actually did smile. i swear. and he was even amazed at the results. >> it's amazing how those small details can make such a difference in someone's appearance. you have a special today. >> yes, we do. 40% off of the product. you can buy two, get one free. if you call the 1-800 number on your screen. or go to plexaderm.com. show with this rock star over here. j.j., welcome to las vegas. >> thank you. >> just tell them you saw me on the "morning blend" with you and they'll give that you special and for the buy two, gets one free, you can't beat it. >> we're blown away at these results. thank you so much. you saw a great result this morning. oh, my gosh. for more information about plexaderm, head to the plexaderm.com web site or call 1-800-949-9793. call now and supplies are

look at the culture as a whole. and las vegas has a lot of tremendous things happening as far as sports teams, development, everything from anthem to providence is showing great new home buildings, amazing properties on board. there is numbers that title companies are putting out that there has been a 10.7% across the board in values, which is the leading number in the nation right now. so we were the hardest hit, but we are raising like the and i think the biggest block is, the biggest block is that people are as reluctant to believe that the market is getting better. >> 'cause we've been burned. >> yes. >> 'cause we've been burned. but we've got to put that aside. things are good. >> trust. >> absolutely. >> i think the market overcorrected. >> it went far too low for what the market -- this is an exciting place to live. people are still moving here. it's a great cost of living. it makes sense that the values would be rising.

dr. ford, thank you for joining us. >> pleased to do it. >> all right. so we hear the term rabies all the time. what exactly is it? >> rabies, interestingly, is perhaps something we've all heard of, but we don't always understand it. it is a virus. it is capable of infecting humans and animals and ironically, it can be transmitted from animals to humans. i think we all through the bite wound of an infected animal. so it poses a bit of a risk even today in the world, 60,000 people a year estimated to be infected and die from rabies. i think the statistic that shocks me is that 99% of the deaths from rabies in the world today are transmitted by the domestic dog. >> wow.

rabies in animals and the risk to humans. so the real key message here, i think, the awareness message is that the pet, the dog and the cat serves as a critical link between infected wildlife, which you have in nevada, and humans. so it is important to vaccinate your pet. >> absolutely. so where should pet owner goes to get their dogs dogs and cats vaccinated? launched as we speak by mariel, one of the leading vaccine manufacturers for animals in the united states. and they have started a web site called vaccinate your pet.net. and on that web site is a tremendous amount of information for the pet owner regarding where to have your dog or cat vaccinated, how often it needs
9:53 am
outlines the benefits of vaccination. and it really is, i think, an important responsibility that anybody who owns or cares for a dog or cat to have them vaccinated regularly. >> absolutely. we got about 30 seconds left. any final words of wisdom for our viewers? >> well, if there is anything i could say, shawn, it's just to remind your viewers that these guys are the critical this is the bridge between the infected wildlife and humans. it is very important, we want everybody to take that responsibility to insure that the pets you own or care for are protected and that will protect the population of people as well. >> absolutely. adorable puppy, may i see. dr., great having you. thank you so much. >> thanks, shawn. >> make sure your pets and family are protected.
