presidential debates of all time.. and it didn't disappoint. millions of people who watched the first debate between donald trump and hillary clinton.. and engaged on social media. abc's maggie rulli has the full recap. donald trump and hillary clinton sharing the stage side by side for the first time last night... as the first presidential debate turned into more of a back yard brawl challenges against each other's character... sotr holier than thou it really doesn't work personal attacks... sot-clinton: he started his business with $14 million, borrowed from his father and almost non-stop interruptions... sot clinton: "donald i know you live in your own reality but that is not a fact sot trump: you have no plan.. sot clinton: oh but i do trump started out strong... putting clinton on the defensive donald trump, (r) presidential nominee: let me tell you, let me tell you. hillary has experience, but it's bad experience.

the president says the bill would hurt national security interests. if congress succeeds, it would be the first time in obama's presidency that one of his vetoes will be overturned. a heartbreaking tragedy is unfolding right now in indiana.. where two missing children have been found dead. authorities in fort wayne issued an amber alert yesterday.. saying the 7 year old girl and 6 year old boy were likely kidnapped by their mother.. who did not have custody. investigators say the woman drove to their police station and told an off their bodies in the back seat. she's now being charged with their murders. right now, investigators are looking for answers after this explosion in the bronx killed a firefighter this morning. he was hit by flying debris from the blast. upwards of 20 people were hurt, including other firefighters and police officers. crews were responding to reports of a gas leak in the two- story home... but then found evidence of a

houston man who wounded 9 people during a shooting rampage at a strip mall before he was shot and killed by police. nats of gunfire witnesses say the gunman was armed with a laser-sighted rifle and firing at the windshields of passing cars early yesterday morning. one woman said she was on the phone with her husband when a bullet grazed his face. "he's screaming on the phone saying i'm hit jen, i'm hit." (butted with) "the shooter was truly trying to kill." still in the hospital. two are in good condition.. one in serious. investigators say they found guns and 26-hundred rounds of ammunition along with nazi materials. they believe the shooter was a disgruntled lawyer who had fallen on hard times. a texas police officer quits his job-- after this video is released-- but his problems aren't over. here you see the former officer hitting the man repeatedly with his baton. the officers say it started

already asked him to several times to leave. you see him get up and go towards the cop-- and that's when the officer starts hitting him. (darrell giles, struck by metro officer) "he hit me so hard, he knocked me to the ground so the first couple licks he knocked me to the ground." after 19 seconds, his partner intervenes. the former officer is now under investigation by the district attorney for excessive force. the prosecution is expected to rest its case in the trial supporters.. who took over a wildlife refuge in portland. they're trying ton convince the jury the armed standoff was not a peaceful protest. yesterday.. jurors watched a video of the men firing at a boat launch with assault rifles. more than a thousand shell casings were recovered but no one was hit by the gunfire. bundy's defense team will take over tomorrow. the trial is expected to last a few more weeks. money is headed here to nevada to help pay for more body

awarded 20-million dollars for body camera programs to more than 1-hundred law enforcement agencies across the country. state, city, local and tribal departments can use the money to establish new or enhance existing body camera probrams. the d-o-j hopes the move with foster cooperation between communities and police. victims of the june terror attack at the pulse nightclub are now recieving payments from the 'one orlando' fund. $29.5 million was donated to fund in the weeks after omar rampage inside the club. fund managers approved the allocation of payments to 299 claimants in four categories.. deceased.. injured with hospitalization.. injured with outpatient treatment.. and present inside pulse. all of the payments will be issued by friday.. the washington monument is now closed indefinitely. the national park service says the elevator that takes you to
