3 with the late breaking details on the school shooting in south carolina. two students and a teacher are hurt after a 14 year old student ran into an elementary school opening fire. this is happening in townville. the students who were shot are expected to be ok. we -- still don't know how the teacher is doing. police say they do have the shooter in custody and no there's no more threat to others. it's not clear how old the shooter was and no word on the motive. the sheriff's office there is also investigating a homicide and they believe the shooter killed his father before the school shooting. and more breaking news -- agnes nixon -- the creator of 'all my children,' 'one life to live,' has passed away at the age of 93 she will be remembered for her storylines, her contributions, and the enjoyment she brought to millions of television viewers but first we begin with a major story developing as we speak.

pockets.. when he did police say it was an object that he was holding with both hands and he was on a shooting stance. one officer pulled out a taser.. police haven't said what the object was. meanwhile witnesses say the man had mental health problems.. and may have just suffered a seizure.. reports say his sister was nearby and had called 911 to get medical help for her brother.. today people protested and chanted black lives matter outside the el cajon police department, east of san diego. part today because he says he too has a mentally challenged son.. --sot-- bishop cornelius bowser / san diego organizing project: "the bottom line is, as my brother just said, we have a young black man that had some mental challenges, was shot and killed and he was unarmed. and so, we want justice."! el cajon police is promising a thorough investigation to see whether the officer's actions were appropriate.

bill the house just passed requiring the v-a to make sure all calls and text messages the veterans crisis line gets are answered quickly. this comes after the former

revealed the problems he says are happening there. he says more than one-third of calls to the hotline aren't getting answered. and some workers handle fewer than five calls a day and leave before their shift ends. he also says in may for example.. an average of 40-percent of calls went to back up centers where workers have less training to deal with veterans' problems. the v-a says it's working on fixing this. the crisis hotline received more than 500-thousand l that's 50 times the number of calls it received nearly a decade ago when it first started. also new today -- the type of cancer killing kids is changing. the number of young children and teens dying from cancer is going down. it's down 20-percent now from 1999. right now just more than two children out of every 100-thousand will die from cancer. that's compared to close to three out of every 100-thousand around 15 years ago. brain cancer now kills more
