jon. ---chances are that you don't know much about mike pence or tim kaine. don't feel bad. almost nobody does. the indiana governor and virginia senator were brought on as steady, bland counterparts to two presidential nominees who are disliked by a majority of americans. ---vice presidential debates, like vice presidents, usually aren't that important in a presidential race. people vote for president, not vice president. ----will this year be different? in o and kaine are the least important running mates in history. they are so boring that there is no chance they will take away from the focus on their all-too-well-known running mates. but what about people who can't make up their minds, who are looking for a reason to vote for hillary clinton or donald trump and know the top of the ticket will not change their minds? might they be looking for some comfort in the number two, some relief that even if they don't like the person they vote for, he or she will be balanced by a steady hand?
