a one-year-old boy. this is 23-year-old amonte taylor. he's been booked into the clark county detention center, charged with one count of child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm. investigators say officers were called to a home where taylor and the child were last week. the report says officers found the child with serious burns to his hand and wrist--so serious they required surgery. taylor told police he was babysitting the boy while the child's mother was out. investigators said they do not believe the burns wer accidental. a despicable crime of animal cruelty!!!! a report details... how suspect..... de-shaun lewis claimed the boy..... slipped in the bathtub. 13 action news reporter..... bryan callahan has more.... on the crime... and... the man's relationship.... with the boy. tricia, according to this report -- lewis told police he was not the boy's father... but had custody for one month prior to his arrest through an injuries the boy came in with... police say lewis told them he hurt his leg playing socccer... and cut his chin after slipping in the bathtub. nurses also internal injuries as well. police say when questioned further... lewis said the boy got "whoopings" when he misbehaved. lewis reportedly said that included being hit with a belt. take reporter the boy's mother told 13 action news... lewis has been watching her son... because she had been really sick. we are told the boy is expected to survive. bryan callahan, 13 action news. north las vegas police have arrested a suspect in an arson fire last night. tony fernandez has been booked
