u-n-l-v professor while she was on a jog. suddenly he lunged at her and grabbed her and kind a halfway lifted her up and threw her down students at u-n-l-v tell us it was their professor... leslie griffin who was viciously attacked while on a jog. investigators say mia ground then kicked her several times -- before trying to car jack another woman. at last check police say griffin was unconscious in the hospital with two brain bleeds. new tonight.. we've shown a lot of video like this- burglars.. caught on camera rummaging through people's homes.. and people being attacked and beaten. while violent crime has been a big problem so far in 2016.. the news isn't all bad.

13 action news reporter gina lazara is here with some reasons.. and what it means for you. gina. we're talking about burglaries....larceny ...theft....and auto theft..... these types of non-violent crimes are down seven-percent across all of las vegas which may not seem like a whole lot.... but police say that's huge. this room is full of people who live in south shores in northwest las vegas. george jones, south shores "it feels good to live there because it feels safe" george accroding to the data -- south shores is the second safest neighborhood in all of las vegas. george jones, south shores "i don't care what time of day or night, i'm never afraid to walk" and on a larger scale --- the entire northwest area is improving as far as safety goes too. in fact....in the last year -- their property crime numbers have dropped 10-percent. captain richard fletcher, nw area command "make no mistake, the prop crime numbers look great, but we have not lost our focus on violent crime" let's widen the picture even more....

a home flattened after a massive explosion. let's get right to that video. look at this scene. this is in illinois, just outside of chicago. right now, crews are still trying to figure out exactly what caused the fire and gas explosion. it stems from some kind of gas leak. witnesses say explosion sounded like a bomb and an earthquake. in fact, there's still a smell of gas in the area even this new tonight.. a bad crash at the intersection of torrey pines and tropicana involving an r-t-c bus. the impact caused the front window of the bus to almost completely cave in. no word on how many people were on the bus.. or if anyone was hurt. that intersection was closed for a short time so road crews could clear the scene. this road rage incident here in the valley is on fire tonight across social media. it has more than 760-thousand

witnesses claim it was an intentional attack. police say they have found the driver. a contact-13 consumer alert for parents.. after two women made a disgusting discovery while feeding their young children. "i pick up the bottle and hold it in the light and i see worms like inching up." one woman says she found worms inside a can of nutra-migen. the other says she had a similar experience with similac. worms and i was like oh. that's great." the company that makes similac issued a statement saying it had an insect expert look at the photos.. and said the worms got into the formula after it left the facility and the safety seal was removed. a toxicologist says.. if this happens to you.. call the company and the health department.. then return the formula to the store unless it's needed for

that's where blanca took a small step down, on what appeared to be an unremarkable staircase. blanca 2:21:31 there's a step there. and it's a middle step that you cannot see at all. so when i step on there that's when i went all the way to the floor.
