9:11 am
everything going on. how will he do with other and il malls? >> he will do great with other animals. everybody does better in pairs, so he would be great if you had a dog. if you don't, you can come down and adopt two. >> if you have an older dog at home sometimes getting a he would oner dog that is a companion is just a sweet thing to do. i did that with my jack russell. >> the other thing is older dogs are over the chews phase. they -- he won't tear up your carpet. they're over all of that. and equally as impressive he is potty trained. once you get him home you need to testify him, you can put him on your schedule and teach him where the doors are at, and he would be great with that. >> what was his story? how did you end up getting him? >> he ran out of time at another shelter. they called us up and we

take years off your appearance. it only takes five minutes. if your teeth are yellowing due to coffee, tree, red wine or smoking you need to pay attention. scott defalco is here. help us get a whiter smile, not in hours, not in days, five minutes. >> less than five minutes. >> that's ridiculous. >> ian i had credible.
9:19 am
years. it's been blowing up. it's called powerswabs. this is a revolutionary product proven to whitener teeth two shades in less than five minutes. six shades over seven days. it's changing the way we white enour teeth. >> it's amazing. yellow teeth are like the rings inside a tree. for humans. we can see oh, man. >> i tell people this all the time. i'll take an average looking person, put them screen. even j-lo, and i'll -- yes, on the other side, and if her teeth are yellow or strained the attraction factor goes way down. and your eyes are going to go to that person with the whiter teeth because it doesn't matter what you look like here. if you smile and your teeth are yellow or stained it looks terrible. we did a panel. we took 100 people and showed them the digitally altered
9:20 am
years younger. same person, digitally altered, but look at the girl on the right. she looks like she could take on the world. she looks unhealthy. and that's not the perception you want to give on in this day off age. i have a younger wife who likes to remind me of that daily. >> tell us how this works. >> it's a quick two step process. patented technology. the first step is the stain process. it's saturated with formula, and you rub it for two minutes. what we do over that two minutes, we accomplish two things. number one we actually lift the stains off of our teeth. the other products people use, the strips and trays will whiten the stains but don't remove them. >> you're able to continue talking while putting this on. it's not burning your mouth. >> no, and that's the strips and the trays. and people have big complaints about them. they taste bad and the worst
9:21 am
is. and i get that question all the time, why does that happen? because i use the strips. i can only get through to sessions. they dehydrate your eand in you will. they suck the moisture out of it. this step not only removes the stain but hydrates and moisturizes your enamel. >> with the other ones getting rid of the enamel you can't get enamel back. >> no, you can't. this keeps it moisture -- i liken it to doing your laundry. do you do >> i do. >> you're a liar. well, if you did, if you put your whites in, and say you didn't put your detergent in, you put bleach on your white, what would it do to your whites? >> it would not be good. >> they would dry out and be nasty. that's what you're doing to your teeth. that's why you get the pain in your teeth. that's what you're doing when you get the -- this is your detergent right here.
9:22 am
hydrating the enamel. then we're going to whiten. >> this is white. >> this is the white. and it's only two minutes. you're going to do this. this is your pseudo bleach, and the grade thing about this, shawn, this is like -- this is my per objection identifies in this formula. a much more less harsh peroxide. >> we're taking a look at results right now. you can see the difference. it's incredible. >> that is after one use, which i'm doing right now. that is over the six shades whiter. this is a party, shawn, you're allowed to double dip that. get in there. get out the solution. >> there's plenty to go around. >> i was blessed with white teeth, but i was off color. because of the swab you can focus on that one area to get it to the same shade of white. so that's it.
9:23 am
average two shades whiter, over seven days six shades. results last up to six months. it's unheard of. >> here is the thing. i think people are watching, take a look at the color chart, that looks fantastic. is that what's going to happen for me? >> like anything else, if you're 300 pounds and start working out you'll see bigger results than someone who needs to lose five pounds. i mean, it works on everyone, and another point i want to bring up, another reason why the product has been so it -- lifts the stains off your caps, crowns and veneers. when you get the procedure done, it looks great. >> of course. >> over time people will tell you it's the stain, it gets stained. you're told there is nothing they can do about it unless you want to invest another seven to $10,000. this will restore them to the original color. it's amazing. and people -- a lot of folks i
9:24 am
caps and crowns, and they use this product because they're teeth have gone uneven and they use it to get it back to the original color. >> this is something we all need. great having you. >> thanks for having me. >> great smile. >> there is a special going on for morning blend viewers. everyone one who calls is going to get free shipping plus a free quick stick with their order. just mention "the morning blend," as well, and you'll take advantage of the great buy two, get one free promotion. powerswabs, three quick sticks with that promotion. quick sticks for everybody. call right now. the number is 800-941-3763. check out powerswabs.com as well. here at 13 "action news" we want all kids in las vegas to stay warm this winter. our coats for kids drive is underway. our partner is tropical smoothie cafe. please donate gently new or used

9:28 am
>> it was absolutely wonderful. it was a lot of people in house. it lasted a long time. >> you're 24 hours. >> tell us about what we can expect. i was there prior, and when i walked in beforehand, i'm like you know what, this is like really cl and i'm like this place really would do well if it was one of the sierra gold properties. now it's amazing. what can we expect inside? >> look at that. >> beautiful, right? so it's just as beautiful on the inside. we have artwork. which you can -- the wine list, everything she has. >> it's an amazing place. it's open, not dark. there is windows.
9:29 am

9:30 am
amazing. >> i love it. you have other dishes in front of us. this chicken people need to see this chicken. there is something special about this. >> there is something special. it's my mom's only special recipe. >> this is legit, straight from kendrick's mom. what makes this so special? >> other than chicken? >> i added lonnie to it, which -- >> oh, wow. you went off the reservation. >> i did. i did. i had to make my own. >> we have others here, as well. >> we have buffalo chicken flat bread. you have an italian flat bread and the shrimp scampi. >> this is exactly what my wife would get, the protein with fresh veggies. it's really awesome.
9:31 am
people, especially the ladies, you know. >> i love it. >> little bit of butter. >> you need oil. i love that you put it in almost everything. >> i love sarachi. >> i didn't grow up cooking grits but i love to eat them. can you give me the -- how to cook it? >> wco scratch. we start off with one part grits, two parts water. we bring it to a similar mr., let it cook down. make sure you cook the green out. so you have to make sure it's creamy. so add a little bit of cream. >> it's nice and smooth. and then i add a little bit of light cheddar to bring it altogether, and it comes out.
9:32 am
>> absolutely. >> you're back in the kitchen making it happen at sg. what has been the most popular dish? >> the most popular, we have calamari and clam fry, which is very popular. the flat breads are amazing, very popular. >> this has blue cheese on it. >> yes. and celery for a nice crunch, with a fire roasted >> look how pretty that tastes. this is not your typical bar. i almost feel like the word bar is down playing how amazing it is. >> we -- locals can go down there and lang out versus going on the strip. we want people to come down. let's not go down on the strip let's stop in at sg bar. >> and you -- it's so conveniently located. i'm going to declare another thing i love about las vegas is

9:34 am
9:35 am
one of the nice things about getting older, more comfortable in our skin. but perhaps you wake up with skin just a little tighter. our next guest is going to tell you about a mini facelift and
9:36 am
longevity of your looks. >> here to tell us about the latest on the popular procedure bernie blanks is here. also dr. tracy hankins. a medical supervisor. great having both of you. we're talking about two different procedures today. tell me about the facelift that you offer. >> this is a very common question. there is a lot of confusion in patients. i think one of the things it sounds like it's not going to li called mini. the main difference is that they both address the lower 2/3 of the face from your cheeks down. but there is less in the neck for a facelift. it's less work for the surgeon, less down time for the patient and means it's going to be less money for the patient. >> similar results. >> pretty long lasting results.
9:37 am
usually say about seven to ten years. >> no kidding. incredible. >> this is dr. ink kin's patient from berlin, germany. she -- look at the pictures on the left. these are in profile. look at the laxity around the jaw line, underneath the cheekbone, in the chin, and then after the mini facelift look at that. literally looks 20 years younger. it's incredible. now, dr. hankins is our medical supervisor. so for me, as a needle guy and injectable guy, sometimes i get patients that just have the skin laxity that we saw there. i can't really help them. i'm so happy that we have dr. hankins onboard, i can send that patient to him, he talks to them, discusses with them what they need, and a lot of people don't know that this mini facelift exists. and how the longevity you can get out of it. so she came to dr. hankins 12
9:38 am
i feel -- the skin texture changed, just natural aging. so dr. hankins said why don't we do a laser on you, and that resource fasting the skin and that will kick that facelift right back into gear. >> how are you? >> i'm really good. >> it's great to have you. let's talk about what you did, and we can talk to her and see what we get. >> we might have a picture when she we have all of those within one practice. so whether it's a simple thing, like a botox injection, just getting started or you need something more involved, we're going to try to pick the procedure that's right for you. so when she came back in 2013, whether it was time for another facelift -- which is about
9:39 am
years. if you look on the before the jaw line is great still. the one of the main things that the mini lift addresses she still looks great. if you look closely and see the texture of the skin, that's what was bothering her. instead of doing another facelifting procedure, we did a resurfacing procedure. and it really had amazing results, which is less expensive than minutey facelift. >> a lot less, and no down time. it's not a surgica a procedure. on the last pictures we had up, the before shot was 12 years after her first mini lift. did you see how -- it looks amazing, absolutely gorgeous. >> can we talk to her for a moment? tell us what the procedure was like for you. >> we'll years ago i wanted to do something for myself, and i wanted a facelift. the only one i had the feeling
9:40 am
he said i didn't need a full facelift. he said mini facelift would be good. i had a week down time. >> and it's enkiddible. >> she does not look done. i hope you're comfortable -- you look fantastic. is that something -- a benefit of a mini facelift that you're not doing a ton of things to alter ma your face? >> little bit. but like i tell patients when they come in to discuss the surgery, before and after is for your surgeon to become very important. if you don't want a full look and you see before and afters and showing you full looks probably not good to go with that surgeon. try to pick a surgeon that focuses on the more natural result. >> it's amazing. great look. we have one more picture to pull up. i want you to explain what we are looking at here. what is this?
9:41 am
the important part of the procedure that makes it last is demonstrated by the arrows. those are sutures placed in the fascia layer of the face. so for example, somebody like joan rivers, a classic example, having ten facelifts throughout her light, she might have only needed one or two. she wanted every wrinkle gone. we're not looking to get e little wrinkle gone. and in fact, once we reposition the soft tissue like we seen with her, it might be better to do resurfacing. >> i want to make sure we get the special offer in. >> so if you call advanced aesthetics las vegas, we have the number, dr. hankins is offering a $1,000 discount off the mini facelift. of course, everybody's results are going to be different, but regardless of what your end price is he's going to take a
9:42 am
people can come see you for consultation. >> absolutely. >> great having you. there we go. >> there you go. >> thank you for joining us. you're gorgeous. >> thank you for having me. >> you're gorgeous, girlfriend. >> mention "the morning blend" and receive a $1,000 discount off the mini facelift. you'll get a free consultation if you mention us, as well. getting into a club and saying i know "the morning blend." located on south rainbow boulevard. you can call the number on your screen or visit advanced aesthetics lv.com. do you know somebody who truly makes a difference? recognize them with our gift back award. >> head to vegasmorningblend.com, click on the give back and fill out the form. one lucky person will receive $500 from america first credit union, a proud sponsor of this reward with "the morning blend."

the next time you schedule a doctor's visit it's likely you'll see a registered nurse. are you really getting the care you need? doris savron from university of phoenix college of health professionals is here with a look into the future of health care. great having you. >> great to be here. >> let's talk about the traditional role of health care professionals. is this evolving? >> so there is a tipping point for health care. there is significant changes happening. baby boomer generation is using services more and you have more insured people using health care services. that is putting strain on health care systems who already have tight budget constraints and sometimes there are shortages. as a result our study indicated that about 80% of nurses and health care administrators are
9:46 am
expanding and they're getting more and more involved in the direct care responsibilities, and creating care plans and also supporting patients and their emotional well-being. >> it's really important for these rns to be prepared to fill the gap and be able to be prepared to move forward in their health care career. how do you better prepare to train rns for tomorrow? >> nurses on the study indicated 90% of them want more leadership health care providers and health care institutions work closely with educational institutions to make sure that we're providing the right program that deliver the right competency and skills for those providing care. 68% of the health care administrators on the study indicated they want more technology training. we know that patient records are going into systems and that is being leveraged by multiple medical providers so important to be able to put information in
9:47 am
understand what's happening with the patient so we can continue to provide quality care. >> slowly and surely. so when looking for a health care professional what are the please important questions to ask? >> well, the key piece to remember is patients should be part of the dialogue. they need to feel comfortable asking questions. they should ask if they're getting a treatment whether it's in theed hospital. they need to understand what that treatment is for and why they're doing it, what may be some of the side effects. are there alternative options? and remembering that there is a two way conversation and not just health care provider providing them information one way. so they need to feel comfortable asking questions and taking ownership of their health. >> absolutely. university of phoenix has been preparing nurses and people in the medical profession to further their careers. where can they go for more
9:48 am
at phoenix.edu/chp. the survey results are there, as well as information about the programs we offer. >> i know it's just enormously popular this program, a lot of people entering this field. >> up scaling is important as changes are made, and they can advance in their careers as a result of it. >> absolutely. doris, a pleasure having you. thank you so much. >> thank you. >> the future of health care is in our hands. visit the website phoenix.edu. thanks, shawn. the dirt, the scoop, whatever you call it, here in las vegas, norm clarke has got it. norm clarke is back, and he's brought a friend with him, actually three friends with him today. this is hamrick, the tom jones clone and his wife cheri and his
9:49 am
>> thank you, j.j. good to see you again. >> great to see you. norm, tell me about hamrick and your friendship. >> well, i -- i was interviewing hair make a couple weeks ago and i asked him what part of town he lived in, and he said we're going to move our dog can't make it up the stairs. it's getting older, and can't make it up the stairs, so we're going to move. i've never met anybody that moves to accommodate their and i just think it's such a great story about people that love their animals. >> that touches my heart. i'm a dog lover. before we talk about your beautiful dog, let's talk about you. because you, sir, are a tom jones clone. tell me all about what you do. first of all you look like the man. >> thank you. i've been a tom jones impersonator for nearly 25 years.

town. i had a residency at the four queens about seven years ago. and that's what i do. and the rest of the time i tour the country or the world. >> wow. fantastic. >> i love dogs. >> and your wife accompanies you on those adventures. >> she tries her best, with the kids and the dogs and now i think -- >> now i'm going the raise him? good luck with that. tell us about his >> briefly, junior is a german sheperd, a white german sheperd. white right down to their eyelashes. >> really? >> yes. >> and he is a rescue. so there is so many beautiful pets that you can get from the shelters, without having to purchase one. many people need to take one trip a round and they'll see if there is wonderful animals that
