surprised of the polls taken, and they're not surprised at all. they knew he was going to win, they felt like he was going to win. they're wearing the trump shirts, a lot of people here, to just support donald trump and you can see it as people wait here. they're having a party, they're excited. because they believe their candidate will take it tonight. live, channel 13 action news. >> back in the war room here, and what a word here tonight, i'm here with the republican consultant, and richard brian. former senator and governor. you better be good. senator, we've all been shaking our heads, you're in shock. >> i am. i need a dictionary. i don't know how to describe it.
8:03 pm
unfathomable. >> and we sit here right now, nevada might be important, we don't know yet. pennsylvania and michigan are still out there, and wisconsin. hillary clinton needs to win those, if not the election is probably over. >> you're probably right. the states, michigan and wisconsin, you traditionally get the early votes in the cities, and they trend heavily to demo the rural county votes will come in and they favor trump, and he's already ahead. >> people are probably wondering what's going on in nevada. not many results right now. it's not worth talking about, we're waiting for the clark county numbers. sometimes you see the waves that happen. but occasionally hen hay happen

counters. >> exactly right. nevada is called a winner in every presidential race, other than the carter victory. i think this may be an exception. i think that nevada will go for clinton. at this point, i don't see how she has the path way to get 270 electoral votes, but the way the tide is merging all over the midwest against her. >> we'll talk more of this, and back to you. thank you very much, and of course, senator is a coveted seat here in nevada. >> that race is closely watched by everyone in the country, that could have a huge influence on the power of balance in the senate. >> we have the latest on that. >> yeah, that's right, the balance of power in the senate is 47-45 with the republican.
8:05 pm
yourself from watching that, but the race between cortez, and he can is critical as well. again, the control of the senate is on the line, there's nine close races that we have been monitoring all night. illinois flipped and went to the democrats, the secretary of state still has not released the numbers for other state, but things do look good here for catherine despite what happens with trump and clinton. because of the high minority turnout today, and the early returns, cortez was the grand daughter of a mexican immigrant, and she's tried to go out of her way to link he can with donald trump. hoping the immigrants are offended to drive them to go to the polls, and that's what we're seeing.
8:06 pm

voting results. with tommy chong. you'll hear from him at 11, he's a big proponent. >> it's a bad deal for nevada, public safety issues, super more high drivers on the road, like we've seen in colorado, and fatal accidents. >> now as of a couple of minutes ago, the results of the two votes haven't been reported, but people told me, they expect it to be close. and supporters say it's time to be more open minded, there's a lot of opportunity in marijuana. toward education, nay sayers say the money is only a drop in the bucket for the state's education fund. whatever happens, this is a process that'll take years to play out, and now here, people

8:09 pm
states that were assumed to be safe, lean democratic, are looking to go to donald trump. nevada could decide this election. >> let's talk about down ballot now. the latest polls before election day, especially in the senate race. cortez, and masto. a little lead over heck. how do we analyze this? so many things are turned on their ear in this election night, is there any way to safely predict the senate race? >> absolutely, if i want to use the polls -- >> no election. >> absolutely. so cortez, the masto, hillary clinton leading by small margins in nevada. we have exit polling, again you need to take with a huge grain of salt. showing them leading in the state as polls closed.
8:10 pm
the air. >> we want to point that out, we're just starting to get returns on the race. back to [inaudible]. political analysts john in the war room, we're crunch it go numbers. >> yeah, the clark numbers, the early and mail in votes. hillary clinton has a 64,000 vote lead, remember they have a 73,000 vote firewall built up in clark county. that should be enou wouldn't say it's 100% sure. cortez is ahead of hillary clinton, 66,000, vote lead in clark county. in the contested race for joe heck. jackie rosen, is losing, and 85%
8:11 pm
11 point lead over hardy. that race is closer than they thought it would be. let me check quickly, in the two important state senate races, the democrats are winning both after the early votes. not be a lot. and losing the open seat by three points. if those hold, the democrats will take the state senate this year. those are the big odd number from clark county. >> john, thank you. by the way, we want to remind you you're seeing the l on the screen, these are the latest numbers coming in, keep watching the l. we'll take a quick break and be right back with the latest

8:15 pm
republicans want the hold on -- to hold on with the majority and this will help tern the balance of power, this race is critical to determining that, this is -- i talk with the chairman of the nevada gop earlier, and he believes this will be a close race. right now, heck has a big lead, but a lot of the other precincts have not reported yet, gop here is optimistic, and hope the race will end early, but right down to the wire. it could be a late night, but whoever knows. we're live at the south point. channel 13 action news. we're out here at the democratic watch party, things are quiet, no states called for either candidate here in the

the early voting numbers posted on the secretary of state's website, right now health care partners is showing on the website as leading 52 to a 42ish, last i checked, early voting numbers. still veryhis race, we know nevada is six electoral votes, may be hillary clinton's only path to the wte and the 270 electoral votes at this point. there's some nervous energy in this room, nobody in here, expected this to be going in this direction at this point. they were expecting them more of a celebration when they walked in here this evening. so a little bit of nervous energy, keeping a close eye on the race here, as well as the race in michigan. channel 13 action news.

we'll talk more of the clark county numbers, remember, these are the early and mail vote numbers. they're about 70% of the vote, about half of the vote in the state, and as i told you earlier, hillary clinton, and cortez and masto, big races, both have comfortable leads. i don't want to call either race. let's look at what's going on in the ballot questions in clark county. we have the could butt them up. -- put the them up. question one, that should tell you is winning by that same margin, that's legalizing marijuana. and that's up well above what i thought it would be in clark county. and i think we have -- do we have question three as well? the energy choice initiative. i can find the numbers, looks like the question -- coming up i guess we have the numbers.
8:18 pm
42, the numbers on marijuana, are wrong. that's 54-45 for marijuana, is winning, and it's 76, i don't know where the question three is coming from. i'm sorry about that, but that's 76 to 23. that's going to win easily, and question one, is 58 to 4 # here in clark county. all three of the ballot questions will pass easily. >> thank you. and now live tonight, what's the latest going on for the democrats? >> well, they're continuing to closely watch all of the races, there's four house races, two will be competitive as we're looking at the numbers posted on the nevada secretary of state's site. right now, jackie rosen is ahead
8:19 pm
and keywin is at 52%. against hardy, who's at 42%. we spoke with keywin earlier, and he felt good of the early voting and because of the makeup of the he -- ralston, and this is a really critical race, the race for the senate between coez it's one of the -- actually the most expensive senate race if the state's history. the committee all along is how big of a factor is donald trump going to be in this race and the latest numbers for cortez, with only 1% of precinct reporting right now.
8:20 pm
the numbers are put up behind us, and they're the latest numbers. we'll continue to monitor this closely. back to you. >> thank you. take a minute to run through the late returns now from nevada. as well as clark county. we'll put them on the screen and race through them for you. >> in the united states senate seat. cortez, masto, this is only 1% reporting here, she's leading with 56% to heck's >> they're the numbers that are probably the reason for the cheer at the democratic headquarters tonight. next race, this is the presidential race, this is as far as nevada goes. and again, six -- this is national right now, donald trump 2 percentage points ahead of hillary clinton, and the lower panel, those are the current
8:21 pm
win, as the night goes on, nevada looms larger in terms of nevada could be the state to provide another electoral votes to put one candidate over the top. >> and move on to question two, that's legalizing marijuana here in the state. this has been very controversial. on to question one, wth not to gun purchases. what people thought of question one. this is more gun control. 58%, in clark county say no, and 42% say yes. and the congressional races, we can get through these quick. and put them up for you. this is the incumbent hardy, with keywin, 1%, and keywin has a 12 percentage point lead.
8:22 pm
with 49%. >> and district one, this is incumbent titus in this race. favored in that race and she's running to a 38 percentage point lead right now. >> and we'll remind you as you're watching your screen, we have an l shape here, and you can see the latest results on the screen tonight. >> we'll take a quick break, and

that we have first, u.s. senate the big race, we have captain cortez, by nine points, that's a big lead. it says 2%, there's rural counties that have come in, but they're relatively insignificant. let's look at the presidential race now, this is nationally 49 to 47, donald trump is winning in the solidly than that. hillary clinton could win the popular vote and lose the electoral college. and question two, legalizing marijuana. guess what, you'll light them up anywhere you want pretty soon in nevada. eight points. and gun control, the background checks, it'll pass easily. 16 points. the 0 there, these are early and
8:26 pm
but remember, that's two-thirds of the votes already in. congressional district four, hardy built up the big upset two years ago, doesn't look like he'll get as lucky this year. 1% reporting part of the rural nevada is in, not enough votes for hardy to catch up. and district three, rosen, nobody heard of until six months ago is winning, and still to wait, but that's a substantial lead, about 11,000 votes there. and a race that was never in doubt. titus will be reelected. quickly, the take on the numbers. anything surprise you in. >> no -- >> you can say that -- >> i'm not surprised, they banked numbers like i've never seen before. >> the democrats. >> democrats did, and it's the
8:27 pm
history. >> donald trump, running much stronger, nevada looks like in the top two races, so far may have held up against the wave. >> this is a legacy, the ground game he put together after the near miss is rolling out the big preelection night votes, and i think it'll carry the democrats to victory in nevada. >> 1998, remember that? >> do i. >> lost by 400 votes. and we're still waiting for that county. do you think the candidates will run strong enough to hold on to these leads? >> i think so. there are a lot of moderate republican voters i think will side with the democratic candidates. >> back now to the anchors, and we'll talk more with more
