majority leader mitch mcconnell and an adversary from within the republican party-- speaker of the house paul ryan, who showed him where he will be inaugurated and discuss what they plan to do when that happens. sot ryan: "we are going to hit the ground running to make sure that we can get this country turned around and make america great again." lana zak standup close: "and with a republican majority in both houses of congress the president-elect has greater power to make those changes when he takes the oath new information this afternoon.... according to federal documents -- the b-l-m shredded documents before leaving their camp during the armed standoff with cliven bundy back in 2014 near his bunkerville ranch. officials say this was done to protect sensitive information. officers feared the they would be overrun by bundy supporters and didn't want that information to fall into quote "the hands of persons engaged

not guilty to various charges stemming from the standoff -- that stopped government agents from rounding up cattle on public land. and -- in what seems to be a random deadly attack. a homeless man was shot while lying against a fence... chopper 13 -- fast and first over the scene -- early this morning near las vegas boulevard and owens avenue at the woodlawn cemetery. he was taken to u-m-c trauma -- but later died at the hospital. right now -- no arrest has been a man tried to rob a convenience store in north las vegas -- only to be shot by a customer carrying a gun. 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston walks us through what happened. marissa intro you can see this is a very large scene-- thats because it happened right here-- but the victim was found behind the building-- a couple hundred yards away. take vo police say-- when somebody tried to rob this store-- a customer decided to take action-- shooting and killing the suspect. we talked with people nearby

about an armed citizen stepping in-- some said people should wait for police-- others said you have to take matters into your own hands if its an emergency. take sot ned hinds 08:05:24:11 if you feel you should step up and take matters into your own hands then i think it's alright 08:05:31:26 marissa tag police are still here on scene investigating-- the armed citizen is cooperating with police. theyll now look into his background to make sure he was legally carrying that weapon. mk-- 13an. another shooti fighting for his life. police say the victim was fighting with another person inside a mobile home park near nellis and owens when shots were fired. we're told he was shot twice in the upper body. he was taken to u-m-c and is in critical condition. no arrests have been made. parents are on edge as the state prepares to narrow down a list of public schools that could be taken over by charters. they say they're worried everything will change and today they took their case to the state's board of education

tom george was there all morning and has the latest this is something a lot of parents are passionate about. more than 100 of them showed up all the way out the door - some even taking off work. most were from tom williams elementary some from monaco middle and others that are all on a list of possible schools that could be taken over by the state and turned into charter school under the new achievement district. parents tell us they're happy with the education their kids are getting and too message to the board sot guadalupe gonzalez / tom williams parent i'm very satisfied with their education the school is wonderful great teachers great programs everything is good about it i wouldn't want to change now to narrow it's list of underperforming down to six schools that would actually become charter schools. that decision won't be made until the 15th tom george 13

and sunny trend which allows for high temperatures to remain 5 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of the year. high pressure continues to hang onto the southwest allowing for highs to remain between 75 and 80 degrees valley wide along with a light wind out of the east/northeast. we will slowly see high pressure transition out of the west and weaken throughout southern nevada through the weekend which will allow for mostly sunny to partly sunny in the mid 70s through the weekend. by the next work week though, things start to feel more like

end -- as police try to calm things down. a man barged into the courtroom during a hearing and demanded to speak to the judge. officers told him to leave -- but he refused to cooperate. one of them eventually tackled him to the ground. :05-:10 nats of man being tackled to ground officers say the man had a personal dispute with police

0:08 nats of yelling 0:11 new video this afternoon shows what appears to be a random attack in the middle of a street in miami beach, florida. but the attacker says it wasn't and is defending his violence. he says he knew his victim -- and their issues stem from a heated exchange on social media. (kevin machin/admitted attacker) "he said that he could have my motorcycle stolen and thrown into the miami river." butt with (kevin already told him to come meet me to come fight. he never showed up like a man. so honestly, all i did was ... i was leaving the area. i see him. bada bing, bada boom." the victim claims he never met his attacker until the violent encounter. miami beach detectives are reviewing the footage to determine if any charges will be filed. some tense moments for one woman as she walks into work... only to find a masked man waiting -- armed to the teeth.

this woman -- 56-year-old kelly thorn. she was last seen near owens and marion on november first. suffering from severe emotional distress. right now -- firefighters in new york are continuing to battle a massive fire at an industrial park just outside buffalo. the fire broke out early yesterday morning when a hot light bulb fell onto some cardboard inside a business. witnesses reported hearing several explosions after the fire started. huge plumes of smoke could be seen for miles as the fire

the fire also prompting the evacuation of several nearby schools. a motorcycle chase comes to a dramatic finish in southern california after the suspect crashes then takes off. take a look.. you can see police closing in on the suspect -- he appears to clip that white s-u-v -- then falls to ground. he gets up and takes off running -- throwing off his helmet as police try to corner him. the suspect made it through an alley and over a wall. two officers. no word yet on why the suspect was being chased in the first place. some stunning video out of san diego of a suspected drunk driver -- passed out behind the wheel on a freeway. a highway patrol officer is seen tapping on her window -- trying to wake her up. she eventually wakes up and then begins to drive away. the officer chased her -- and

window. she eventually pulled over -- where she was put in handcuffs. sotvo "i could have been dead. thats what goes through my mind." a restaurant worker is still shaken -- after a frightening incident at work when she walked inside the back door -- she saw this man with a mask and hood over his head standing in the corner. he had a gun in one hand and a knife in the other. "grabbed the gun, his wri grabbed the knife and then we got to tussling," she managed to wrestle him back outside -- where he quickly took off running. despite the terrifying encounter -- she managed to finish her shift. choosing to spend the rest of her day in the comfort of supportive employees. heading overseas now -- where massive flooding from days of heavy rain -- has claimed the lives of 3 people in albania. schools in the area have been

ride-sharing company "lyft" is launching a new service in las vegas. starting today -- people can request rides through "lyft line." it allows passengers to share their ride with others going the same way for a discounted price. the service is launching in 15- cities nationwide.
