9:04 am
sideburns coming down. and it's just amazing how when he walks out, at the mid show, in the jumpsuit, the audience just gasps. >> they know. >> because of the transformation and boom. >> such a big elvis so integrated into las vegas. >> oh, my goodness. >> he's part of the fabric of this town and the strip. >> what was the moment where you had that connection, the first connection with elvis? >> i was 13 when i the movie jailhouse rock. i just had that connection. when you sing the song, there was something about it. i said that's the man i want. didn't think i would actually be here. but that was the moment. i have been a fan my whole life. >> i got to ask you. people always say which elvis did you like? i liked the early elvis, but then he -- you know, he gained weight, and i'm like you know what? if you love elvis, you love
9:05 am
>> yes. >> like in every era. and every way. >> before i performed as elvis i would have told you i liked a certain era, but you really have a different respect for that era because you are like wow, there is a lot of effort he put into every single era he did. different persona, different outlook. it's real linting when you put on the outfit, you have a completely different persona for that outfit. >> there is a lot of good artists, there has been a lot of great artistsut transcends all of that. >> absolutely. >> a whole different -- arguably the greatest entertainer of all times. to go from the '50s all the way to '70s, and he would probably still be performing today if he had lived. and elvis has more fans around the world than any other single entertainer that's ever performed. you mentioned graceland. thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people

it's a holiday tradition over 50-years-old, and they are back and on sale.
9:14 am
hess toy truck general manager justin mayer. >> it's that time of year, and i'm super excited to be here with the newest hess toy truck. i remember the jingle, it's better than ever, the legacy of the hess toy truck, talk about how this all started many, many moons ago. >> well, many, many moons ago, 52 years, 1964, company founder leon hess thought it would be a great thanks to his station customers to offer for sale the holiday time this hess toy. what was amazing was it was an amazing price point, just over a dollar. it came with batteries included. had working lights, which nothing at the time had. and so it was sort of set the bar for the next 52 years of quality, attention to detail, fun, innovative features, fun to play with and great value.
9:15 am
earlier than ever before, which is remarkable, because there are no more hess gas stations that happened the past few years, but you're selling the toy trucks like hot cakes if i knew how much hot cakes sold for. >> yeah, it's really been amazing, what we found last year. it was aeler sale out, typically sometime between thanksgiving and christmas. but now with the internet everybody can get it we're seeing sales happen earlier than we used to see out happen in the gas stations. and it's easy to get. you sit there on your phone, and you're ordering, shows up a couple days later, free shipping and the batteries are included. >> let's talk about this newest truck. and it's not just a truck, because that would be boring. there is more than just a truck. >> well, you -- you took that serious. the hess truck is back and it's
9:16 am
this year's hess toy truck and dragster we think is better than ever. it's got all the flashing lights, and you would expect from a hess truck product. and it's got four realistic sounds, including cool race sound, and the drag star itself, which is the coolest thing we've done, is 40% bigger than the accompanying vehicle we typically put with the truck. it's quite large. and for first time ever led headlight, which we haven't put in the secondary and my favorite part, it -- if you pull it back, tilt it, let it go it wheelies at crazy speeds across the floor. so much fun to play with. i have a 7-year-old boy and they play witness. >> that's fantastic. they happen to know somebody that can maybe get it a minute or two earlier than the rest. they're very fortunate to you as a dad is what i'm trying to say. >> they have a lot of fun with it. >> what's it like being the general manager of these hess toy trucks?
9:17 am
movie. >> i showed that to myin had. they thought the same thing. it's a bit like being santa claus, because we get to bring the awesome gift that brings so many families together at the holiday time, and something so many people look forward to. and it wouldn't be christmas without it. it wouldn't be thanksgiving i feel honor to havehess truck go on. >> i remember when -- back when i lived in boston the hess stations were everywhere. i remember the first place i got gas was a hess, and it was $1.04 a gallon. and i miss those day. when the hess brand went away i think people were worried are the trucks going to go away? because people have been complecting them for many years. i'm sure you have heard from people that are thrilled that it
9:18 am
years continue to do that. but what we're seeing now for another generation is that this transition is happening to the next generation. many great grand fathers letting grandfather buy the truck. it's quite amazing. it's become -- we obviously think the toy is fantastic but it's not just about the toy, it's about the relationship. the child has with the person in the family who gets the right to give that as the gift, and families tell us that they sort of argue over who gets that right because it's such a >> it wouldn't be the holidays without arguing. justin, great having you my friend. >> same, shawn. look forward to talking to you next time. >> looking forward to it. give the gift of a hess toy this holiday season. they sold out fast last year. get yours quickly at hess toy truck.com. now it's time for your beauty tip of the week sponsored by phase laser med spa.

9:24 am
want the flavor. the walnuts can be so great. i also love a lot of friends that don't eat dairy, and i love the simple almond milk recipe, just two ingredients. cold water and almond, soak them over night. you can do them until they're chunky. and use that, whip that into a gravy or sauce, to add body and thingness or blend it until they're smooth. and use it in place of a potato or little lasagna. my mother used to make had a sanya as a first course for thanksgiving. you can see how i never got out alive and baum a chef. but a great way to get away from really dairy heavy menu, get away from the butter and gravy, the flour, the cornstarch, the milk and certain sauces or heavy cream, and nuts which are so

it's going to be submission only, going to be the -- we call it the super fights, if you will. so we're going to incorporate those in and out of the mma fights, as well. we're really excited about this year's card. >> how do the whole idea start? >> you know, in 2010, basically i was talking to a buddy of mine who was a loan officer, who would send me business, owned my own insurance company, and we deci each other in our garages, and so later that night -- >> it all starts from a fight. >> so later that night, we were going pe and fight each other, and we thought about maybe promote it to a national event and we decided to do it for charity and here we are seven years later. he and i did fight in the first year when it was exhibition, in which randy was kind enough in his team to have us have our event the first year and to years out of his gym.
9:36 am
decided to go to various venues like the one we have this year. so it's amazing how it's grown over the years. and randy and his team has been with us since day one. >> and randy tell us about the foundation and how the proceeds will benefit. >> the foundation, we have been around for eight years. i wore the uniform in the i '80. never had to put my butt on the line, unlike many guys today. many have sacrifices. missing limbs, and dealing with a lot of stress and issues. so i wanted to do something to get back. and we started this foundation, basically started with just the staff and friends volunteering to put on the events. we're happy to be teamed up with people like jeff and vinnie and tough enough the events are getting bigger, getting traction, but every single time that we raise goes into the hands of a soldier and his family that needs help.
