this just in---parents, teachers and educators are planning a protest rally tomorrow to speak out against their schoool possibly becoming a charter school. the rally is at jerome mack at 6-45. mack is one of 9 schools on a list that could be run by a private charter school company. now... here's a look at the other top local stories.... we're following right now... i'm david schuman at james gibson elementary in henderson where a book assigned in a third grade class has infuriated some parents. the book uses symbols in place of exclamations that the parents believe are curse words. the author of the book says they're just symbols and can be

it was a party weekend..... in manhattan.... that turned into a gruesome murder! a connecticut family is mourning the loss of joseph comunale..... after he never made it home. and now... police have charged two men.... in connection with his death. abc's.... angelica spanos... has the very latest. [[pkg]] sot - pat comunale, father: "it's a total loss. he touched everybody. everyone he came in contact with loved him. he was one of a kind... crying" joseph comunale's father is inconsolable... shocked by the brutal killing of his 26 year old son. friends saturday for a night out. police say he got separated from his friends at the club, and was last seen entering this luxury apartment building on the upper east side. sot - blonde lady: "they had-you know-all the crime scene people in the white suits, the crime scene unit, down there, investigating through all of our trash." police say they found comunale's bloody clothes inside and more bloody evidence in a garbage bag outside the

because morning lows will be so chilly, checking your 4 ps is a good idea! pipes, pets, plants and people! any exposed outdoor pipes should be wrapped and insulated. outdoor potted plants and pets should be brought inside for warmth. in las vegas we are not going to freeze but elevations above 3,500 feet could and the outlying typical cold areas might by friday morning. by the weekend, high pressure will take over again and mainly sunny skies and light winds will be common. high temperatures look to rise low 70s. monday may bring a small chance for rain with the approach of a new disturbance but models are not all on the same page just yet. but this system will help keep our temperatures in the mid 60s. the holidays can be a lonely
